The word grace has been defined as the ultimate expression of the love of God Throughout our lives, God has been at wor k to br ing us into God’s likeness (Romans 8:29) This may be broken down as follows:

SAVING GRACE

At some point we become aware that we have sinned and are in need of God’s saving grace In Ephesians 2:5 we read, “By grace we are saved ” Personal salvation has also been called new bir th (John 3:3) and becoming children of God (John 1:12)

GROWING IN GRACE

The Bible talks about “growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Chr ist” (2 Peter 3:18) Avenues of growth include such spir itual disciplines as prayer, reading the Bible, worship and being in fellowship with other believers (Acts 2:42)

SUSTAINING GRACE

ULTIMATE GRACE

Daniel Kenneth KIRBY AGE 78 - ALLEGAN MI

Daniel Kenneth Kirby passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on June 12 2025 with family by his side at home Daniel was born on September 13, 1946, to his parents Kenneth and Wilma (Curtis) Kirby in Paw Paw, Michigan Daniel met the love of his life Loretta (Martin) Kirby and shared over 49 years of marriage together Dan was a devoted man of God serving in many capacities at church by playing guitar as Worship Leader, Youth Leader, and as an Elder He was also an excellent fisherman and knew how to catch the best fish at all the local fishing spots When he wasn’t fishing or serving at church, he loved eating tacos, spending valuable time with his family and newest great-grandchildren, but most of all he never wanted people to leave Dan worked as a Chef in many restaurants and eventually retired from Johnson Controls out of Holland Dan is missed and leaves a legacy of love and commitment behind him Daniel is survived by his wife Loretta (Martin) Kirby; children Kenneth (Tammy) Kirby, Martin (Deborah) Johnson, and Jeremy (Heather) Kirby; siblings Kay Wing, Judith Stuart and Kenny (Rock) Kirby; he was also blessed with multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren Preceded in his death are his parents Kenneth and Wilma (Curtis) Kirby; stepdad Howard Perring; children Melissa Sutton and Laurie Johnson Daniel's Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, June 18 at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel 528 Trowbridge Street, Allegan, MI 49010 A graveside service followed at Miner Cemetery in Watson Township Memorial donations may be made payable to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and mail to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105

Why do so many people seem so angry? According to a 2024 poll, 84% of Americans believe we are an angrier country today than we’ve ever been You’ve seen the videos of fights breaking out on airplanes, customers throwing punches at fast food employees, teachers and students going at it in the hallway, and townhall meetings gone wild! Road rage related shootings doubled with 70 incidents in 2018 and 141 in 2022 In 2024, there were 114 road rage shooting deaths and 362 injuries reported 92% of people in a 2023 survey witnessed a road rage incident Why are we so angry?

I confess to getting angry at the smallest things When I try to pass someone driving slow in the passing lane and they speed up to keep me from passing, that ticks me off When I hold a door open for someone and they walk pass without a smile, nod, or “thank you,” that really frosts my flakes! When I cook a meal and do the dishes after the meal, and not one of my three kids offers to help, my blood starts to boil

Thankfully, the Bible offers a battle plan for anger First, hit the PAUSE button James 1:19 states, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry ” Adopt the 24 hour rule When someone makes you angry, and they will, don’t respond to them until after a 24 hour pause Next, PRAY As you pause, don’t watch revenge movies on Netflix That will only fuel your anger Pause and pray Talk to God about your anger and invite him to decrease it As you PAUSE and PRAY, try to PROCESS the triggers that made you angry Be sure to also process Bible verses that can diminish your anger such as Proverbs 15:1, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger ” As you PAUSE, PRAY, and PROCESS, be willing to pursue PEACE with the person or people who made you angry Romans 12:18 states, “As far as it depends on you, live at peace with all people ” Did you know that anger can significantly increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke? Did you know that 19% of American adults experience sleep disturbances caused by unresolved anger? Do yourself a favor and apply the battle plan above to beat anger You’ll be glad you did! Gordon Wayne SQUIRES AGE 86 - RICHLAND, MI

Gordon Wayne Squires, age 86 of Richland passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025 He was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 21, 1939, the son of Wayne and Geraldine (Carpenter) Squires Gordon graduated from Dearborn High School and continued his education at Western Michigan University, where he received a BA & MS in Aviation Engineering Technology Gordon faithfully served as a medivac helicopter pilot with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam and also served with the United States Army and Michigan Army National Guard, retiring in 1991 with the rank of Major after more than 29 years of faithful service He also retired in 2001 from the FAA Battle Creek Inspection Field Ofﬁce after more than 23 years as an Airspace System Inspection Pilot and Procedures Specialist Gordon married the “Love of His Life”, Suann Kay “Sue” Guenther at the St Monica Catholic Church on December 30, 1972; she survives He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Margene Squires of Delton; his brother, John Squires; sisters-in-law, Janae (Martin) Niecko, Pamala (Thomas) Hamilton, Amy (Dan) Wytko; and several nieces & nephews Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Gordon was a founding shareholder and Secretary of the Board of Directors for Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo and was a Charter Member of the Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame He was always very active in his community and was also a member of the Plainwell VFW, the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, Plainwell Music Society, and was recognized as the “Volunteer of the Year” by the Otsego Public Schools The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p m , Monday, June 23, 2025 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Ave (M-89) Richland A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a m , Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the St Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery In lieu of ﬂowers, memorials may be directed to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund www vvmf org or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation www parkinsonsmi org

Ronald Tutewiler passed away, June 3, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida He is now in Heaven breathing freely and taking long walks on the beach with his many relatives and 4 golden retrievers that have preceded him Ron was born May 6, 1937, in Battle Creek, MI, the son of George “Jack” and Thela Tutewiler He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1955 where he played the trombone in the band and jazz band As a young man Ron enjoyed driving stock cars at Galesburg Speedway Ron worked at Michigan Bell Telephone for 34 ½ years, taking an early retirement in 1990 After a couple years of ﬁnishing projects at the house on Crooked Lake, he worked part-time at Barry County Telephone for a few years Ron married Gail Foster in 1980 at Richland Covenant Church in Richland,
