Patricia

FERGUSON

AGE 78 - PLAINWELL MI

Patricia Ferguson, lovingly known as Pat, Patty, Mom or Grandma passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, surrounded by the family she adored more than anything in this world Born in Kalamazoo to Carl and Doris Watts on June 10, 1947, Pat spent her life building exactly what mattered most to her a close-knit family filled with love laughter, traditions, and probably enough handmade crafts to supply an entire county Pat met the love of her life Jim Ferguson on a blind date proof that sometimes the best things in life happen when you least expect them The two married in January of 1969 and built a beautiful life together filled with adventure, and just enough sarcasm to keep things interesting for over five decades Together they raised two children, Jeff Ferguson and Amy Hamilton, and Pat made motherhood look effortless though her family knows it was fueled by equal parts love, determination, tea, and patience, lots of patience Every summer meant trips to Pine Lake, where memories were made year after year Whether she was behind a camera capturing moments on film, tending to her flowers and garden beds, cooking for a crowd, or riding on the back of Jim’s motorcycle for long scenic drives, Pat had a gift for finding joy in simple moments and making them unforgettable Pat’s creativity knew no limits If there was a school play, Halloween costume, holiday gathering, or grandchild in need of something special, she was already three steps ahead with fabric, glue guns, yarn, and a plan Her charitable heart led her to lovingly handcraft mittens and hats for local schools, quietly helping others the same way she lived her life generously and without needing recognition Family functions were her favorite sport, and she proudly served as organizer coordinator encourager and sometimes referee She was fiercely loyal, deeply loving, and armed with a sarcastic sense of humor sharpened over years of keeping up with her husband and children Pat leaves behind her devoted husband, Jim Ferguson; her son, Jeff Ferguson; her daughter, Amy Hamilton (Kevin Callahan); grandchildren, Jimmy Hamilton (Megan Hamilton), Davy Hamilton, Tanner Callahan (Alexis Bucher), and Keira Callahan; and great-grandson Tucker Callahan along with extended family and friends Her family finds comfort knowing she is likely somewhere beautiful right now camera in hand, flowers blooming nearby, probably reminding everyone how she would have organized things a little differently In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory may be made to Christian Neighbors Pat’s love stitched itself into generations, and her family will carry that warmth with them forever Visit with family and friends on Tuesday, May 26 from 4:00 p m to 7:00 p m at the funeral home in Plainwell A memorial service will be held on May 27, 2026 at 11:00 a m at the same location Pastor and dear friend Jim Dyke will officiate the service Pat will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later day

The family is being cared for by Avink, McCowen, Secord Funeral Home

“THE BIRTHDAY OF THE CHURCH”

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place ” Acts 2:1 By Rev Dan Minor - revdm nor1945@gma l com

On Sunday May 24 2026 Chr istians throughout the wor ld celebrate a most impor tant event on the church calendar – the bir thday of the Church The word Pentecost literally means “50th” or the 50th day after Easter which commemorates the coming of the Holy Spir it It was a day when a fearful group of disciples were transfor med into bold apostles for Jesus Chr ist Red is the liturgical color which symbolizes zeal and enthusiasm

Before He left this ear th Jesus promised His disciples that the Holy Spir it would come to take His place The mighty Person of the Holy Spir it would fill them, teach them, empower them and help them to be founders of the Church of Jesus Chr ist on ear th

The amazing thing about Pentecost is that, for the first time, all languages of the ear th heard the gospel in their own native language Even more amazing is how the church grew rapidly throughout Europe On that histor ic day, three thousand souls believed, repented of their sins and were baptized with water The coming of the Holy Spir it at Pe

ascension of Jesus, fulfilled His promise and inaugurated a new age in the histor y of the church known as the age of the Spir it We are still living in the age of the Holy Spir it

How can we best celebrate the bir thday of the church?

1 By showing up for worship in person or on line

2 By repenting of our sins

3 By being baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spir it

4 B

5 By witnessing to others our love for Jesus by our love, our words and our actions

6 By offer ing ourselves in ser vice to Jesus Chr ist

7 By glor ifying God in ever ything we say and do
