Let us turn our attention to the 40 day period between our Lord’s resurrection and ascension.

“After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God” (Acts l: 3).

During that interlude our Lord appeared to many, including His disciples, for the purpose of reassuring them, re-empowering them and recommissioning them for the ongoing work of discipleship (Matthew 28:19,20).

Our present day Post-Easter instructions are the same as those early followers of Christ.

1. To Re-Group.

John 20:l9 says that on Easter evening “they gathered together.” That is a good place to begin.

Now is a good time to re-group with our church… to re-connect with the living Christ…to reexamine our motives and move forward with faith.

2. To Re-Focus.

John 20:20 says “The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.” Does this describe our experience?

Back in the l960s, when we were involved in the space race with Russia, a Russian cosmonaut returned from his flight in outer space and arrogantly remarked, “Didn’t see God up there anywhere.” One of our astronauts, John Glenn said, “I saw God everywhere I looked.” The only way to bear fruit for Christ is to re-focus on His living presence.

Thus, we are people on a mission for God. There is no greater calling than the privilege of sharing Christ with others. I am reminded of an old Greek proverb, “Those who carry the torch must pass on the light.”

MARTY PRICE passed away Sunday, March 27th, after a long illness. He was married to Jo Warner for 26 years; they were together for 35 years. He was stepfather to Sonia (Hendrixson) Kling and Nikki (Hendrixson) Worline; grandfather to Samantha, Brandon, Jared, Zackary and Courtney. His buddy (dog) Grizz will miss him. By his request he was cremated.

We will miss him deeply.

OBITUARIES Alice MCGOLDRICK AGE 78 – KALAMAZOO, MI

Alice passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at Alamo Nursing Home. She was born September 28, 1937 in Kalamazoo to Jay and Daisy (Ross) Bullis. Alice was a member of the Oak Grove Bible Church in Kalamazoo and enjoyed dancing, music, celebrating the holidays and spending time with her family. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Alamo Nursing Home for several years. In 1971 she married Harold McGoldrick who survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Betty (John) Letts of Otsego, Deborah Pequeno and Destiny (Mark) Paull both of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and sisters, Janet Paull and Dorothy Paull. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra Branch; son-in-law, Jose Pequeno and brother, Don. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego Pastor David Ives officiated. Burial followed at Alamo Center Cemetery, Alamo Township.

Harold Zeigler Plainwell has an excellent opportunity for an Administrative Coordinator/Customer Service Specialist within our Factory Service Plans Department.

This role will work one on one with our customers via email and over the phone assisting in the purchase of Factory Service Plans from our website. This position requires extreme flexibility for scheduling purposes. As a part of a 4 person team; the ideal candidate will be covering as needed for the other team members whose hours rotate from Monday thru Friday 8am-7pm and Saturday 11am-3pm. This position’s “normal” hours will be Mon.-Fri. 3pm-7pm and Saturday 11am-3pm when not required for other team member coverage.
