SHILOH is starting to come out of her shell and showing her silly & sweet personality
Poor, sweet Shiloh has a sad stor y She was brought to the Allegan County Animal Shelter as a surrender by a landlord after she was abandoned in her previous owner’s apar tment It’s unknown how long she was there alone, but she was skinny and scared when she first came in The shelter’s medical team estimates she’s about 5 years old Shiloh is star ting to come out of her shell and showing her silly & sweet personality is just as beautiful as her looks! She is so cute and little and has the coolest coloring gray eyes and fur with blonde patches In the shelter environment, Shiloh seems to be a low-energy dog who just wants a human friend by her side (at all times, if possible) Shiloh could join a home that includes other dogs, cats, and/or older, respectful children Shiloh would love to have a doggie sibling as she gets along with most dogs! If there is another dog in the home, a meet and greet will be scheduled to ensure they’re a good match Shiloh showed no interest in the cat during her assessment, but slow introductions are recommended between new dogs and cats At this time, she would do best in a home with respectful kids 12 years and older, but she could potentially do younger with the right kids In addition to leaving her behind, Shiloh’s previous owner failed to give her hear twor m prevention so she tested positive for hear twor m She is currently undergoing treatment using the slow-kill method, which is noninvasive and inexpensive Her adopter will be responsible for continuing her treatment with their vet Apply to foster or adopt sweet Shiloh here: https://wishbonepetrescue org

Thomas Eugene Ball, a beloved husband father grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on March 20, 2024, at the age of 76, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew him Thomas was bor n on June 25, 1947, in Plainwell, Michigan, to Eugene and Martha Ball He was raised in Martin, Michigan, and is survived by his siblings Judith BardenNash, Ted and Linda Clark, and Kathryn and Eugene Meert His brother Robert Clark preceded him in death Thomas was the loving husband and soulmate of Cheryl (Lana) Ball for 55 wonderful years Together, they raised a beautiful family and created countless memories with their children: Steven Thomas Ball and Kimber Johns, Brian Patrick Ball, and Darin Curtis Ball Thomas was a devoted grandfather to Steven Tagg, Maddison (Derek) Lafountain, Adam (Ciara) Ball-Blais, Lindsay “Lindsay-Kate” Ball, Kaitlyn Ball, Lana Ball, Anthony “AJ” Ball, Christian Ball, and Charlotte Ball After graduating from Plainwell High School in 1965, Thomas served his country with honor in the Army before retiring from General Motors of Grand Rapids, MI He was a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers, always cheering on his favorite teams Thomas had a passion for building scale model RC airplanes and loved flying them for his children and grandchildren He spent many seasons as a baseball coach for Pinery Park Little League, coaching teams for his sons as well as many other young athletes in Wyoming, Michigan He cherished time spent with his family on the water, creating lasting memories on their boat during summer days A true family man, Thomas and his wife welcomed family and friends into their home with an open-door policy: hosting card parties, movie nights, and gatherings for loved ones to come together and share laughter and joy A funeral service took place Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 1:00 p m and Tom was laid to rest at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego, MI following the service In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan You can give online at specrumhealthfoundation org/tributegiving Thomas will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his unwavering love, infectious smile, and his dedication to making others happy May he rest in peace, knowing he was cherished by many and that he will be forever loved

Susan Kahler-LaCoss, 71, of Plainwell MI passed away in Kalamazoo on March 18th, 2024 Susan was born in Muskegon, Michigan on December 8th 1952 to Josephine and Paul Kahler Susan attended Mona Shores High School and graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing She married Dale LaCoss on September 18th 1982 and together they had one child Kimberly LaCoss Susan worked as an alternative education teacher in Otsego Michigan and during her retirement she worked at the local greenhouse She enjoyed participating and volunteering at the local Ransom District Library She also volunteered with the Cooper Horse 4-H club She enjoyed knitting and sewing, managing her family’s farm caring for her beloved animals, canning and freezing produce from her gardens, camping and she loved researching genealogy Susan is survived by her husband Dale, daughter Kimberly, many in-laws and several nieces and nephews She was predeceased by her brother Robert, and her mother and father: Josephine and Paul, as well as her aunts and uncles Memorial services will be held at Centre Avenue Church of God 1917 E Centre Ave, Portage Michigan 49002 on Friday, April 12th, 2024 Visit with family and friends from 10am to 11am A memorial service will begin at 11am at the same location Memorial donations may be made in Susan's name to Ransom District Library or the local 4-H club While visiting Susan’s webpage at www amsfuneralhomes com please sign the guestbook and/or share a memory with the family

Steve passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at his home in Shelbyville He was born May 21, 1948, in Kalamazoo, the son of Paul and Mary (Dommanschet) Chappell For over 35 years he worked at Parker Hannifin and did taxes for many people in the area Steve was a kid at heart and enjoyed joking around and making others laugh He liked being outdoors, hunting, fishing, especially for salmon on Lake Michigan, traveling out west and sailing He was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music and playing on his computer He was a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited and St Margaret Catholic Church in Otsego Most of all Steve loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren On March 31, 1972, in Kalamazoo, he married Neta White, and they spent 52 wonderful years together Also surviving are his children, Nate (Debby) Chappell of Allegan and Christine Garvin of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Ethan Kelly Chappell, Emily Marie Chappell, Haydanne Christian Garvin and Brennan Steven Garvin; great-grandchild, Ty Emelander with another due soon; sisters, Denny McPherson, Terry Sapinski, Laurie Holewa along with several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Bruce According to his wishes cremation has taken place Friends may visit with Steve’s family from noon-3:00 P M , Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 A M , Wednesday, April 3, 2024, with celebrant Nyla Merrill officiating In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Steve may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association

One of the amazing things about the resurrection of Jesus Christ is how fast word spread from person to person Remember this was in B C (Before computers!) Our living Lord appeared first to Mar y Magdalene as she stood weeping outside the empty tomb (John 20:11) Mar y told the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!” (John 20:18) The other women “hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples” (Matthew 28:8) John outran Peter to the tomb (John 20:3-4) On Easter afternoon Jesus appeared to Cleopas and another disciple on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:33-35) Later in the evening Jesus appeared to the Eleven who were meeting behind closed doors (John 20:1929)
Then in Galilee (Matthew 28:16-20), where He gave the Great Commission Then to the disciples while they were fishing (John 21:4-14) Then to more than five hundred, including James and all the apostles and to Apostle Paul (I Corinthians 15:3-7) The point is they all saw Him Pastors have the blessing of following persons from the cradle to the grave and all points in between I have seen Him in worship I have seen Him at the altar of baptism, Holy Communion and Christian marriage I have seen Him whenever people gave their lives to Christ I have seen Him in nursing homes, hospitals and at the open grave
There are many ways of seeing the Lord such as in nature, the Holy Scriptures, worship and life events Last summer we saw the Lord when our sweet granddaughter, Ella Grace Minor, crossed the stage to receive her high school diploma A week later we saw the Lord when our grandson, Jacob Starr, was united in marriage to the former Lexi Burnham Last fall we saw the Lord ever y time our grandson, Jack Minor, took the field in football We see the Lord working in the lives of our children and all our grandchildren A recent joy is the announced engagement of our grandson, Justin Starr, to Ashleigh Walters
Jesus, speaking to His disciples, said, “Blessed are your eyes because they see ” (Matthew 13:16) The only way to see God is through the eyes of faith

Patricia J Hoff, of Plainwell, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo The daughter of Joseph and Etta Barbour was born on February 6, 1937 in Cedar Springs She attended Kalamazoo Schools and married her husband James Hoff in 1957 Pat and her husband Jim owned and operated Parchment Service Center for 30 years Prior to, Pat worked as an usher at the Kalamazoo State Theater, a receptionist at WKLZ Radio Station, an associate at Kalamazoo Laundry, and worked the elections for many years Pat was a dedicated wife, devoted mother, and a warmhearted Nama She was committed to her family wholeheartedly in all of their endeavors Pat also cherished time spent camping with family and friends, being a past-president of the Lady Elks of Otsego Lodge 1711, part of the Black River Yacht Club, collecting Precious Moments, and of course watching QVC Pat had a joy for the holidays and family gatherings, where her endless love created a warm and welcoming space where laughter filled the air and memories were made She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Joshua Hoff Surviving are her husband, James Hoff of 66 years; her children, Keith (Gina) Hoff, Kenneth (Leslie) Hoff, and Kathy (Steve) Penny; her grandchildren, Samuel (Rungnapha) Hoff, Jamie Penny, Krista Hoff, Joseph (Shaylee) Penny, and Jennaleigh Penny; and her great-grandchild Bentley Penny A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time

When my wife, Amy, and I had been dating for about 10 months, I found myself in a bit of a pickle! Her birthday was coming up and I wanted to give her a gift she had never received before, but affordable for a college student like me at the time I decided to (wait for it) take Amy to a professional hockey game, the Sabres vs the Penguins When she opened the card and saw the tickets, she tried her best not to cry or say something mean like “You got tickets to a hockey game for MY birthday?” I could tell she was extremely disappointed Clearly, I did not meet her birthday expectations
The people of Jesus’ day can relate Some of the same people who shouted about Jesus “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” on Palm Sunday shout about Jesus “Crucify Him!” on Good Friday, just a few days later What happened??? Clearly, Jesus did not meet their expectations They wanted a warrior Messiah who would flex his muscles and put the Jewish people back on top politically, militarily, and economically Instead, they got a suffering Messiah who came to give life to all, not take life from any Amy and I went to the hockey game To her surprise, she loved it She loved the atmosphere, the food, the speed of the skating and the puck, even the hard checking! The game went into double overtime and still she was sad to see it end My birthday plans didn’t meet her expectations; they exceeded her expectations! Jesus does the same People were expecting Jesus to be a Messiah who would give them power, possessions, and prestige But instead, he offered them and us better gifts- peace, contentment, joy, and eternal life Jesus didn’t meet their Palm Sunday expectations, but he exceeded them on Easter Sunday by conquering death and despair!
