Sometimes, forgiveness is easy. It was for Christina Reitz, from Tacoma, Washington. She found a hand-written letter stuck to her door with a $5 bill inside, from a young boy named Jake. In it, he apologized that his sister stole one of Reitz’ butterfly windchimes; it reminded the girl of her mother, who had recently passed away. “I’m sorry," Jake wrote. "This is the only money I have. Please do not be mad.” Mad? Not at all! Christina took to Facebook, in order to find Jake and return the $5, as well as offer the kids an identical windchime Usually, it is more difficult to forgive than this! Getting started might mean excavating deep emotional pain. Courage is needed to face anger, shame, and guilt. We may have survived through denial, suppression of painful thoughts, or displacement, where our resentment towards the unforgiven splashes out and sears innocent bystanders. Still, we realize that what we’ve been doing isn’t working. Forgiveness is necessary to restore joy and peace. Jesus’ teaching on forgiveness is challenging! In Matthew 6:14-15, Christ explains that when we forgive others, God forgives us. Conversely, when we withhold this gift, we do not receive God’s forgiveness. Since Paul teaches that we are forgiven by faith alone, without condition, it must be that the forgiveness God withholds here does not involves salvation but unfettered access to our friendship with Him. It is impossible to have a close, personal relationship with God, in which we discern His will, encounter His presence, and commune with Him in prayer, unless we release our resentment and forgive others. Forgiveness is difficult, but necessary for restoring our joy, maintaining healthy relationships, and building a strong friendship with God. Begin the journey today!

Together they have three sons, Corey (25), Brandon (22) and Ian (20). Born in Pottsville, Pa., Bro. Don spent twenty-four years on active duty in the United States Naval Submarine Force retiring in April, 2006 as a Lieutenant Commander. In May, 2010, Bro. Don graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary with a Masters in Divinity.

We see and hear a lot these days about the crowds. Crowds can be peaceful, but they can also be angry, disrespectful and even dangerous. During his ministry on earth Jesus enjoyed enormous popularity among the people. Mark, the gospel author, writes “At the beginning of his ministry his fame spread everywhere” (Mark l: 28).
Whenever he preached, great crowds gathered to hear him (Mark 2:2). He had compassion for them. He taught them, fed them, healed their sick, cast out demons and blessed their children. The crowds on Palm Sunday were exuberant (Matthew 21:l0). His great popularity created a serious problem for him. His popularity among the mass prompted His accusers to capture Him in the absence of the people (Mark 12:12). Of course a crowd was present when Jesus appeared before Pilate and Herod (Luke 22:6671; 23:6-12). As He was led to be crucified, “A large number of people followed him …” (Luke 23:27).
His last week on earth was marked by controversy, confrontation, rejection, betrayal, denial, persecution and death. Yet He loved them to the end, offering forgiveness for his executioners. How do we explain it?
While He ministered to the crowds He did not allow them to distract Him from His mission. They once wanted “to take Him by force, to make Him King” (John 6:l5). But Jesus made it clear His kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36). He refused to play to the crowds. One day “every knee will bow and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10-11).

AGE 91 - PLAINWELL, MI Joe went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2017 at his home. Joe was born on November 10, 1925 to Dennis & Emma (Smith) Dorgan. Joe served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. Joe’s family includes his wife of 61 years, Doris; his children: Rosemary Harvey, Joel (Kimberly) Dorgan, Daniel Dorgan, Craig (Margaret) Dorgan and Keith (Holly) Dorgan; his sister Mary Sondheimer; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son: Kelly; his siblings: Julia, Jack, Dennis. A visitation and rosary was held on Sunday, March 12 at the Life Story Funeral Home, Plainwell. A funeral mass took place at St. Margaret’s Church in Otsego. Memorial donations can be made to the Wings of Hope Hospice or St. Margaret’s School. Charles “Chuck” KELLY AGE 75 - PLAINWELL, MI
Chuck died at home on Sunday March 12, 2017. He was born January 9, 1942 in Texas Corners, Michigan. He is the son of William and Myrtle Kelly. Chuck’s family includes his partner of 28 years Rebecca A. Coak; a daughter Tanya Kelly (fiancée’ Jacob Jackson), and many siblings. Chuck served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. Chuck enjoyed working on anything mechanical and spent his working days as a diesel mechanic. He liked to go on long rides in the country with his family to see deer and turkey, go camping, and spend long days at Gun Lake watching his daughter, nephew, and family kayak and swim. He was particularly fond of family trips to Mooville for ice cream, and loved to stop along the way and get a Milky Way and a root beer. Chuck enjoyed being on the move all the time; from spontaneous trips to Michigan’s upper peninsula, rides over to see the sunset and ‘pirate ship’ at Lake Michigan, and even watching the train go past his backyard. Despite all his 75 years Chuck was very much still a child at heart. He loved to help anyone who needed help, had a famous sense of humor, and will be missed by all those around him. The family would like to thank special friend Haywood Beazley and family for all of the help they have provided through the years. The family asks that if you have any pictures of Chuck please contact us so we can make copies for a memorial.

Richard R. “Dick” UECK Sr. AGE 81 - PLAINWELL, MI
Dick passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at his home in Plainwell. He was born December 21, 1935 in Benton Harbor, MI, the son of Arthur and Cecelia (Miller) Ueck. Dick served his country in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. For many years he had worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in the Parks and Waterways Divisions until his retirement in 1992. In his spare time Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to his cabin up north. He was a member of Gun River Skeet & Trap Club and Grouse Tales. On January 7, 1956 in Benton Harbor he married Margaret “Jeanne” Bacon who survives. Also surviving are his children, Patricia Ueck and Richard Jr. (Dawn) Ueck; grandchildren, Arthur Ueck and Hillary Ueck; brother-in-law, Robert Bacon; sister-in-law, Betsy Bacon; cousin, Josie Taube, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; cousin, Tom Taube and special uncle, Wilbur Ueck. A private family service will be held with burial at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Ike passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at Alamo Nursing Home. He was born July 26, 1934 in Albion, Indiana, the son of Ray and Fern (Irwin) Enos. Ike served his country in the US Army’s 5th Air Division during the Korean War. He had owned and operated A & I Ceramics and the Slot Car Track in Alamo and had retired from the Eaton Corporation. Ike was a 32nd Degree Mason. He also served as a manager with Alamo Little League and had taken care of the flower gardens at Alamo Nursing Home. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting antiques and riding snowmobiles. Surviving are his children, Terry Enos of Wyoming, MI, Kevin (Mera) Enos of Skandia, MI and Sharon Enos of Jasper, IN; grandchildren, Jason, Doug, Andy, Zachary, Ashley, Josh and Sara; 8 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and nephew, Pat and Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Enos; grandson, Michael Enos and siblings, Perry, Katie and Mary Lou. Friends may visit with Ike’s family starting at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 P.M with celebrant, Bill Rose officiating. Cremation will follow. Burial of ashes will take place with Military Honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta at a later time. Trudy passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at her home in Kalamazoo. She was born March 18, 1934 in Menominee, MI, the daughter of Samuel and Gertrude (Jenkins) Martell. Trudy was a part of the Yaya Sisters and enjoyed playing cards and taking trips to the casino. She was also a member of the Workers of Mary and St. Margaret Catholic Church. Trudy was a great cook and loved spending time with her grandchildren. On October 8, 1955 in Menominee she married George Rohr who survives. Also surviving are her children, Linda (C.A.) Bowen of AL, William (Kim) Rohr of Otsego, John (Marcia) Rohr of Paw Paw, Edward Rohr of Alamo, Adam (Kim) Rohr of Kalamazoo and Laura (Gerard) Moyer of Kalamazoo; 18 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren and brother, Loren Martell. She was preceded in death by sisters, Charlotte Friedman and Laura Clumpner and brothers, Sam and Pete Martell. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A scripture service was held at Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego Sunday, March 19th followed by a memorial service on Monday, March 20, 2017 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Otsego, with Father Ben Huynh officiating. Burial of ashes will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta at a later time. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Trudy may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Ministry. 7/9/79 - 3/24/07 Year after year…. the years just keep going by. It has been a very long ten years. The Bible says a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is as a day. By God’s time you have been gone only for a moment in time. Over the years, people have asked me, "Are you mad at God for taking your son?" With pride and praise, I tell them that God did not take my son or anyone else's. I tell them to read John 10:10, the thief (the devil) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am (Jesus) come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Over the years I have had people ask me if you were my son. Then, they would tell me how you had helped them in their time of trouble by telling them about Jesus. From time to time someone will ask me how I know you are in heaven. I will tell them because you were born again, Spirit filled, and washed in the blood of Jesus. The Bible says when you come to Jesus, old things are washed away, and all things become new. Praise God for that, and I have the word of God to stand on. Not only that, but I have a secret that I have not told. The Bible says you will know the truth by two or three witnesses. One night the Lord gave me a dream. As I was working in the backyard, someone said to me, "What are you doing young man?" As I stood up and looked there was my father, your grandfather, looking like the young man I remembered. As we talked I said, “Dad, we lost Charlie Keith.” He said to me, “I know he is with us in glory and he is alright.” As I gave him a hug and opened my eyes, he was gone. There was someone you and I knew- a good, godly man. We will just call him "Dick". Well, not long after Dick passed away, I had a dream. As Dick and I talked, I said, “We have lost Charlie Keith” and he said to me, “I know it. He is with us in glory and he is alright”. This time I instantly woke up and knew that God had just given me my two witnesses. With all of this I think to myself every day how sad it is that someone can lose a child or loved one, and not know if they are in heaven. If you say, "I do not know where I will spend eternity", you need to open the Bible, the Word of God. Read the third chapter of John. There you will find your way to Jesus, for without Jesus Christ, there is no hope. If you are a mother or a father and you are looking at your child and say you don’t know, with love, take your child by the hand and as a family read that same Word of God, and don’t stop there. Remember you or your child may not have tomorrow. Thank you, heavenly Father, that our son is a part of the bride of Christ. We love you and we miss you.
