Obituaries James (Dan) STOUT BORN DECEMBER 2, 1956 DIED FEBRUARY 4, 2013

Dan was born in Corona, California and was dealt a better hand than most: his brilliant mind was recognized by family, teachers, friends and anyone else who interacted with him for more than five minutes. He enjoyed reading great books, playing chess, gambling, pool, camping, winter hiking, golf and solitary reflection. He excelled at everything he put his mind to. Although he could have been successful at any elite college or university, that was not the path Dan chose.

Instead, he focused on running a small business and his avocations. The image of Dan one family member remembers best occurred upon his return from an extended trip to Joshua Tree National Park in California; he came marching down Franklin Street, strong, tan, with backpack and sleeping bag hoisted upon his shoulders. What tales he had to tell his young sisters!

Pauline J. MCINTOSH BORN 5-26-1922 – DIED 2-16-2013 Opus is a lovable Husky mix. He's small enough, weighing in at just 28 pounds, to easily fit into any home. With his winning personality, Opus gets along great with both people and other dogs. This little sweet-heart will make a great companion and would love to have a home to call his own.

Pauline passed away peacefully at Borgess Hospital on Saturday, February 16, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lurline Barton and her sister, Elsie. Surviving are her son, Harold E. Immekus Jr., Otsego, and daughter, Victoria Buel, Plainwell, six grandchildren, and many great-grand children and one great-great-grandson. Pauline enjoyed playing golf and pool with her many friends at the Otsego VFW Post 3030. Cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. The family thanks Otsego Fire & Rescue and Borgess Medical Staff for their help and kindness.

Raymond E. BEERY AGE 85 - KALAMAZOO

Raymond passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Raymond was born June 30, 1927 in Otsego, the son of Clyde Cortland and Lillie Marie (Harper) Beery. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Navy.

He was a member and Past Master of Anchor Masonic Lodge #22, Scottish Rite, Saladin Temple (Shriners) and was a Shrine clown.

He had also been a member of American Legion #36, Kalamazoo 40/8 Voiture #161 and a Past Patron of Otsego Eastern Star Chapter #497. Ray enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and reading. His work history includes: Beery’s Grocery in Otsego, CocaCola, Cadillac Overall Linen Supply, Campbell Fuller Weaver Insurance Agency, 2 Cities Motel, WMU as a groundskeeper and the KVCC Bookstore. On July 23, 1949 in Kalamazoo, he married Rosemary Blanchard, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Michael (April) Beery of Lawton, Bruce (Diane) Beery of Plainwell, Brian Beery of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; one special aunt Beulah; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Harold Beery. Funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego with the Masonic Lodge and Hospice Chaplain Brendan McGroarty officiating.

Cremation will follow the service with interment of ashes at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego with private services in the spring. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, the Parkinson’s Foundation or to the GreatLakesHospiceFoundation.org.

James Patrick Kelley, age 78, died Monday, February 10, 2013 at his home in Overton, Nevada.

He was born September 16, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana to George Edward and Margaret Kip Kelley. In 1964 he married Mary Lou Warner Kelley.

James grew up and attended grade school in Elkhart, Indiana, Los Alamos, New Mexico and Colon, Michigan. He graduated from high school in Otsego, Michigan. James joined the Army in Detroit, Michigan. He served from 1955 to 1956. He worked for 10 years at Valley Metal in Plainwell, Michigan and 25 years at Kimberly Clark in Fullerton, California. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. He put 10,000 miles on motorcycles, riding throughout California. James then went back to playing old country and bluegrass music on his guitar. He and Mary retired to Overton in 1991.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Bill) Harper, Peggy Thompson both of Otsego, MI and one brother, John (Shirley) Kelley of Plainwell, MI and four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou on November 30, 2004, son, David, one brother, David and one grandson, Billy.

Private family services will be held.

Richard Lee King, 71, of Otsego, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, February 16th, 2013 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 9th, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son on Lyle and Vera (Grable) King. He is survived by his wife Roberta (Quiring) King and children, Katherine (Jeff) Tippett and Amy (David) Nguyen along with 4 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Ruth Baures and Joyce Henderson, and a brother, Robert (Judy) King and several nieces and nephews. Rich was self-employed for 36 years as a psychologist. He loved Michigan football, hiking in the mountains of Montana and Wyoming and motorcycle trips. He played guitar and loved bluegrass music. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a beloved friend to many. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 24th at Otsego United Methodist Church in Otsego, Michigan at 2:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in Rich’s name may be made to Christian Neighbors.
