As many as 80 local residents will benefit from the work of a projected 350 adult and teenage volunteers at TeenServe, a work camp coming to Plainwell, MI July 5th-11th of 2020. Repairs offered through the work camp include interior and exterior painting, weatherization, and wheelchair ramp construction. Homeowners with physical and financial needs are urged to apply to be a worksite. TeenServe will complete work on homes within a 25 mile radius of the school. AGE 49 - ALLEGAN, MI Kevin Keyzer passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 15, 2020. He was born on April 20, 1970 in Plainwell, the son of Robin Keyzer. Kevin liked being outdoors, fishing and 2 tracking. He enjoyed listening to his music and playing the Wii. He is survived by his mother Robin Keyzer of Allegan, daughters Desiree Keyzer (Anthony Seekman), Kelsey Keyzer and Emily Keyzer, stepdaughters Tera Randall (Brandon Randall) and Catie Lapham (Aaron Lapham) and his grandchildren, Lily, Colton, Alexis and Remington. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bart and Joyce Service. Friends may visit with Kevin’s family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the memorial celebration at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego Celebrant Bill Rose officiating. Zale passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan. He was born March 25, 1954 in Kalamazoo, the son of Charles and Shirley (Snow) Large. Zale enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends, also his dog Myra. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Zaro Large. Zale is survived by his sister Zena (Jim) Anderson; nephews David (Lori London) Sherwood and Victor Sherwood; nieces Gwen Moon and Keara Mayer, nephew Corby (Dakota) Frisbie; nephew Matthew Sherwood; niece Courtney Anderson, great-niece Briahnna Bunker; nephew Jeb Large, niece Marray Large; great-nieces Luna Sherwood and Cora Frisbie, and great-nephew Corby D. Frisbie, Jr. According to Zale's wishes, his body was donated to science (Wayne State University). There will be no memorial celebration. We would like to thank Wings of Hope in Allegan for their special service and kindness through this difficult time. Their staff and volunteers were all very helpful.

AGE 82 - PLAINWELL, MI Yvonne Earle passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at her home. Yvonne was born April 13, 1937 at the family home in Richland, the daughter of Louis and Evelyn (Burchett) Gay. She was very talented and had enjoyed oil painting, china painting and making quilts for many family members. She had a green thumb and could grow anything, but especially loved growing roses. Yvonne was an active member of Trowbridge Community Church for many years. She loved her family deeply and was happiest spending time with them. On December 27, 1975 she married David Earle who preceded her in 2003. Surviving are her sons, Jim (Chris) McNutt of Allegan and Jeff (Lisa Williams) McNutt of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren, Adam (Missy) Cobb, Jenni (Corby) Callaway and Jimmy McNutt; 10 great grandchildren; several step children; many step grandchildren; many step great grandchildren; her siblings, Diane Kloth, Duane Gay, and Craig Gay; step brother Steve Luedenking and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Julianne Louden, Gilbert Gay, Dolores Galloway and Rick Gay. Gregory A. Jorgensen passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 16, 2020. He was born on August 25, 1956 in Allegan, the son of George and Joyce (Posthumus) Jorgensen. He attended Allegan High School. On August 11, 2012 Greg married Tracy Burkwalt in Albion, Michigan. He was employed as a machinist at Parker Hannifin in Otsego and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Greg always had a positive disposition, even during his illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Tracy; son Eric (Cassy) Jorgensen of Plainwell; daughter, Erin Jorgensen (Dave Wilkes) of Arlington, Texas; step daughters, Candice Dishman (Jesse Chapman) of Battle Creek and Brianna Hollister (Austin Potter) of Marshall; grandchildren, Dane, Abel, Judd, Kailey, Charlize, Cecelia, Carter, Savannah, Jackson, Oliver and Aurora; his mother Joyce Jorgensen; brother Jerry Jorgensen; sister Grace Smith and his nieces. He was preceded in death by his father. Friends may visit with Greg’s family on Saturday, February 29, 2020 beginning at 10:00 am until the Memorial Service at 11:00 am at Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego Pastor Steve Smail from the Lighthouse Baptist Church will officiate. AGE 65 - PLAINWELL, MI Arthur Steinman Jr. passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born March 18, 1954 in Allegan, Michigan to Arthur and Marian (Pennell) Steinman Sr. He lived his entire life in the area and attended Gobles High School. On April 13, 1983 he married Terry Smalley in Las Vegas. He was employed at Parker Aerospace in Kalamazoo. Arthur enjoyed woodworking in his work shop, hunting deer and turkey, and goofing around with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Terry, children, James LoBretto (Violet Glas) of Plainwell, Nicholas Steinman of Plainwell and Allison Steinman (Brenton Reichenbach) of Plainwell; grandchildren, Ashley, Hailey, Brody, Charlie and Eli; great grandchildren, Aubree and Arlo; his mother, Marian Robinson of Kalamazoo; father Arthur L. Steinman Sr (Violet Steinman) of Allegan; sister Diana Rankin of Gobles and brother Gary (Barb) Steinman of Bloomingdale. He was preceded in death by his sister Kelli Roberts. “FINAL EXAM”

For a student, the final exam may be in the form of a written test on material covered in class. For a long distance runner, the final exam is when one crosses the finish line. For a musician, the final exam takes place at the Festival Concert. For the politician, the final exam is at the ballot box.

The Bible says on an appointed day we will all give an account of our lives to God (Hebrews 9:27), a final exam. Among other things, the season of Lent is a time of self-examination. It is a time when we take a closer look at our relationship with God.

While this holy season is based on the 40 days of our Lord’s temptation in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11), there is another scene from the New Testament which is a watershed moment in the history of redemption. The significance is that from that point on Jesus would begin preparing His disciples for His coming suffering, death and resurrection (Matthew 16:21). It happened at a place called Caesarea Philippi (northern part of Israel). It was there Jesus gave His disciples, what some have called a final exam.

There were two questions on the exam:

1) Who do people say that I am? (Matthew 16:13) 2) Who do you say that I am? (Matthew 16:15)

That was when Peter gave the first recorded confession of faith “You are the Christ, Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:16). His answer was inspired by the living God (Matthew 16:17).

It is a question all of us must answer. Of course He is more than that. Jesus is The Lamb of God (John 1:29); The Light of the World (John 8:12); The Good Shepherd (John 10:11); The Bread of Life (John 6:35); The Vine (John 15:5); The Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) and more.

This question followed Jesus throughout His ministry. When Jesus calmed the sea, the disciples were so afraid they asked, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (Mark 4:41). Here is another example from Palm Sunday: “When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” (Matthew 21:10).

Thus, it is a recurring question: Who do you say that He is?
