Henry “Bud” Stancliff JUNKER, Jr. AGE 81 - OTSEGO, MI
Henry “Bud” Stancliff Junker, Jr. passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. Born on September 10, 1944, Bud was the son of Henry and Frieda (Rheynard) Junker. He grew up in Otsego and graduated from Otsego High School in 1962. A hardworking and determined man, Bud owned and operated Bud’s Delivery Service for many years before retiring from Haworth. Retirement didn’t slow him down; he soon returned to the road he loved, driving trucks for Harding’s Market and enjoying the familiar rhythm of the work. In his younger years, Bud found excitement on the flat tracks, racing his 250 Harley Sprint. He excelled in the sport and carried that passion for motorcycles throughout his life. Beyond racing, Bud enjoyed the outdoors—fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. He also loved settling in to watch NASCAR races, always cheering on his favorites. Bud is survived by his children Henry (Barry) S. Junker III, Bart Junker, Marnie Junker, and Mary Beth Denton of Indiana; his sister Darlene Hampton; his brothers Jeff and Jay Junker; many nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Carol Junker; and his sister, Jayne JunkerStannard. Cremation has taken place according to Bud’s wishes. A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made in Bud’s name to Wings of Hope Hospice or the Otsego VFW Dad’s Club. David Albert RANKINS AGE 56 - CERESCO, MI
David Albert Rankins, 56, of Ceresco, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Beacon Kalamazoo. He was born on March 11, 1969, the son of Charles David Rankins and Marietta Louise (Smith) Stoughton. David drove several years for Veteran Truck Lines and was very proud and well-known by all his customers. David married the love of his life, Angela on December 13, 2020, but the two were together for many years before their union. He was also a member of Pheasants Forever, Inc. David is survived by his wife, Angela LappRankins; son, Noah Postma; daughter, Amie Rankins; step-son, Andy (Raquel) Lapp; stepdaughter, Lisa (Taylor) Lapp; grandchildren, Cameron, Seth, Talon, Maleah, Weston, Adrianna (Eli); great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Carter; and brother, John Rankins. He was preceded in death by his parents. David was an avid hunter and could spend hours in his blind observing. He loved to fish, restore anything he could get his hands on, was a master of cooking and grilling, and a beloved animal enthusiast, especially his Rottweiler, Abby. David was a simple man, but would give everything he had to those in need. He never met a stranger and when he did he could hold a conversation about anything. David loved his family, his children and grandchildren were his world and he loved to spend time with them. David Roy Gerlofs, age 71, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 25, 2025, following natural causes. David was born on May 17, 1954, in Kalamazoo, the son of Clayton and Margaret (Smith) Gerlofs. He was a proud graduate of Parchment High School, where he played saxophone in the school band, an early reflection of his appreciation for rhythm, sound, and self-expression. On May 18, 1984, David married the love of his life, Roxie Jacobs, at the Kalamazoo County Courthouse. Together they built a life rooted in devotion to family, hard work, and shared experiences. David dedicated thirtyfive years of service to the State of Michigan, earning the respect of his colleagues through his reliability and strong work ethic. Following his retirement, he worked for Rowerdink Inc. in Kalamazoo for several years, simply to stay active and fill his time. David truly loved the open road. Riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle was more than a hobby—it was a passion that brought him peace, freedom, and joy. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, working outdoors, watching motorsport racing of all kinds, and spending meaningful time with friends and family. David is survived by his children, Dustin (Kelsey) Gerlofs and Lori (Matt) Drainer; his grandchildren, Peyton Way, Jaxson Nufer, Easton Ridgley, and Clayton Gerlofs; his great-grandchild, Braxton Laster; his siblings, Barb DeKam and Gwen (Lonnie) Gerlofs; and many nieces and nephews, including Kim (Robert) Hatfield, Mindy Davis, Rhoda Fessler, Sara (Dan) DeHaan, Angel (Christopher) Larsson, Katlyn (Anthony) Fessler, Josh (Kaitlyn) Hatfield, Corby (Veronica) Sherman, Areell Middleton, Emma DeHaan, and Dylan DeKam. In accordance with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a time of sharing at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to continue celebrating David’s life with food and spirits at Main Street Pub, 4514 W. AGE 47 - HICKORY CORNERS, MI Erin Nicole (Lewis) Regis, age 47 of Hickory Corners, passed away at her home on Friday, January 9, 2026, after several years of battling cancer - not once giving up the fight. Erin was the kind of person who made life feel lighter just by being present. She had a radiant smile that lit up any room, an easy laugh, and a way of showing up for people that made them feel seen and valued. No matter how busy life became, Erin always found time for others. Erin graduated from Delton Kellogg High School (1996) and Western Michigan University (2004), with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She had a deep love for movement and expression. She spent years dancing—tap, jazz, lyrical, and more—through Shari Rarick’s School of Dance in Battle Creek and Expressions Dance Center in Hastings, and later found joy in running, completing several 5K and 10K races. She was known for embracing life’s moments with enthusiasm and positivity. Erin was employed at Jason M. Corradini, DDS, in Richland. Faith was important to Erin. She regularly volunteered at the Radiant Church Bookstore and carried her faith into her everyday life through kindness, compassion, and service to others. Above all else, Erin loved her family fiercely. She was a proud and devoted mother who created lasting memories with her children through laughter, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her children were her greatest joy. She was a devoted soccer mom, cheering loudly from the sidelines and always made time to attend her children’s numerous sports events, band, and color-guard performances. Erin is survived by her husband, Tommy Regis; her children, Khries Regis, Zachary Regis, Kami Regis, and Zander Regis; her mother and stepfather, Diana and Gary Robinson; her stepmother, Wendy Lewis; her siblings, Eric (Kelly) Lewis and Karen (Sam) Hastings; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and many dear friends who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Greg Lewis. Those who knew Erin will remember her as strong, loving, beautiful inside and out, and a sexy badass who loved big dorky guys. Her laughter was contagious, her presence comforting, and her spirit unforgettable. A memorial service will be held at a later date. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Jean (Jeanne) Lewis. Our beloved Jeanne was born on October 24, 1956, to her loving parents Richard and Bernice (Kavanaugh) Merrill. Jeanne spent her childhood being raised in a small two-bedroom house with her parents, three brothers and four sisters who all fondly called her Bug. She spent many years sharing one bedroom with all her sisters. It is in that bedroom where these sisters would build a neverending bond which would later in life become their own little adventure group with their many travels in the “Sistermobile”, Jeanne’s favorite destination being Shipshewana, IN. She would spend many summers as a child working hard on the Kovach blueberry farm where she would learn a good work ethic and how to make work fun. In 1974 Jeanne graduated from Otsego High School and still has many dear classmate friends. That year she would start working at McDonald’s Corporation where she would continue to work for the next 16 years. It was at McDonald’s that Jeanne would meet the love of her life, Kevin Lewis. On August 21, 1981, Jeanne and Kevin were married. After Kevin joined the U.S. Army, they found themselves living in beautiful Washington state where they started their family with daughters Kasie and Kelli. In 2010 she and Kevin would complete their family with the adoption of their daughter, Mackenna, who is currently a sophomore at Holland Christian High School. Jeanne continued to work for McDonald’s in Tacoma and worked her way up to the position of Area Supervisor before leaving the company to concentrate on being a wonderful mom, which was the role she cherished most. A generous spirit led Jeanne to leading many young girls as a Girl Scout Leader for several years where she organized fantastic adventures for all her scouts. Her devotion would continue to manifest itself through her commitment to her daughters in band and swimming. She spent countless hours on the deck of swimming pools, volunteering along with Kevin as timers for swim meets which she loved every minute of timing meets right up to a few short weeks ago. As a wife, daughter, sister and mother of military veterans Jeanne generously cooked and served breakfast regularly for members of the Otsego American Legion and was active in the Blue Star Moms organization for many years. Jeanne loved to travel and explore, especially National Parks, which she was blessed to be able to do with Kevin and her girls throughout her adult life. When Jeanne had spare time, she loved to spend countless hours walking the beaches of Lake Michigan searching for beach glass and Petoskey stones which she had a knack for finding. A similar knack she had was for finding four-leaf clovers, cherishing one that was passed along to her by our Irish mother. Jeanne loved being Irish, so this was the perfect gift for her to have. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Richard and Patrick and her favorite brother-in-law Gary Chase. She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin, three daughters, Kasie Lewis of Windsor, CO, Kelli (David) Miscisin of Chandler, AZ and Mackenna of Otsego; cherished grandchildren Otis and Amira Jean Miscisin, along with siblings Joy Chase and Cheryl (Rick) VanderVeen of Galesburg, Tim (Sharon) Merrill, Sally (Dan) Perrin and Tammy (Bob) Bailey, all of Kalamazoo, sisters-in law Nyla Merrill and Linda Merrill, as well as mother-in-law Jeannette Freeman, father-in-law Donald (Sandy) Lewis, and brothers-inlaw Craig (Waneta) Lewis, Bryan (Linda) Lewis and Scott (Angie) Lewis. She will also be terribly missed by many, many nieces and nephews and extended family who will never forget the fun family times at their home and in their pool, huge family 4th of July’s with fish fry’s and fireworks and of course, the Merrill Family Christmas parties. I would be remiss if I failed to mention her best friend Kyu (Chris) Jodon and their children Sylvia and Brandon who she loved as her own. Friends may visit Jeanne’s family from 47PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Otsego United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dan Minor officiating. A luncheon at the church will follow. A short service will be held for family members only at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Jeanne will be cremated and at some point, her ashes spread on Mt. Rainier, WA by her daughters and I on a trail to her favorite spot from the aptly named Paradise Visitors Center. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations in her name to The Otsego American Legion, Blue Star Moms or the Allegan County Animal shelter with the family’s gratitude.

Moreover, God will not speak to us if we are not listening. We must have a desire to listen in order for God to speak to us. In Deuteronomy 4:29 we read, “… if you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
The takeaway here is to say with Samuel, “Speak to me, your servant is listening” (I Samuel 3:10).

In the third place, God does not always speak in dramatic ways. For example, Elijah the prophet had an encounter with God but God did not speak in an earthquake or fire but in “the still small voice” (I Kings 19:13).
The prophet Samuel teaches us how to listen to God. After several attempts to speak to Samuel, the prophet was advised to let God know he was ready to listen.

Serve Others – Do an anonymous act of kindness for someone out of love for Jesus. 4. Fellowship – Spend time with people who live and love like Jesus and make you want to live and love like Jesus. 5. Practice Gratitude – Thank Jesus for specific moments, people, or small joys throughout the day; gratitude deepens awareness of His presence. 6. Artistic Expression – Draw, paint, write poetry, or create music inspired by Jesus or a Scripture that moves you. 7. Scripture Memorization – Hold one short verse about Jesus in your heart and repeat it throughout the day. 8. Fast from Distractions – Take a break from noise (phone, music, social media) to make space to notice and hear from Jesus. 9. Pray the Lord’s Prayer Repeatedly – Say it one line at a time, pausing to reflect on each phrase throughout the day. 10.
