Stephen "Steve" Wayne Tucker passed away Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, at his home in Saline, MI. He was born April 30th, 1936, in West Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Stephen and Margaret (Downes) Tucker. Steve received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY, in 1958. On November 21, 1959, in Griswold, Connecticut, he married Marie E. Tucker. They then moved to Virginia where Tammy was born and then to Wyoming where Steve was born. While in Wyoming, he was licensed as a Professional Engineer of the state in 1962. In 1968, they moved to Massachusetts where he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 1971. After graduating, they moved to Saugatuck, MI, where he was ordained at the First Congregational Church of Saugatuck in 1971 and Christina was born. After serving there for four years, they moved to Colorado where he planted the Mountain View Congregational Church in Littleton, CO. After seven years, they returned to Michigan in 1982 where he was the pastor at the First Congregational Church in Otsego until his retirement in 2001. They moved to Kalamazoo, MI, in 1996 prior to his retirement. Steve had a great passion for history, particularly US history, and passed that along to his children. He collected stamps and enjoyed photography. He had an enthusiasm for playing cards (especially cribbage!), board games, and tennis – he passed this along to his family as well. Steve was a man of strong faith and had a deep abiding love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He served in many community organizations through the years. While in Otsego, he served as president and treasurer of Lions Clubs International and served as a chaplain for local hospitals. As pastor, he presided over 100s of weddings and funerals, and he collaborated with other community pastors for special services. Following retirement, he led several Sunday School classes and Bible studies at Calvary Bible Church in Kalamazoo, MI. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling and took many family trips to numerous locations. He especially enjoyed spending the winters in Kauai and Kona, Hawaii with Marie. Steve is survived by his three children, Tammy (Brian “Terry”) Walker of Saline, Steve (Christy) Tucker of Indiana and Christina (Andrew) Dalby of Colorado; grandchildren, James, Donna, Kevin, Nate, Jon, Alyssa and Maggie; great-grandchildren, Deacon, Tommy and Audrey; sister Margaret, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marie. A Memorial Service will take place at the First Congregational Church of Otsego, 120 West Morrell St, Otsego, Michigan on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026. Friends may visit with Steve's family starting at Noon, until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:00 P.M. Pastor Lenny Luchetti to officiate. There will always be a Christmas because… 1. GOD IS TIMELESS. God never grows old. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). His living presence is always with us. He is knowable, approachable and reachable. In the realm of faith, there is no such thing as shelf life. There is no expiration date on grace. When we stumble and fall, spiritually, He is always there to lift us up. We measure time in terms of length. God measures time in terms of eternity. Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega … who is, and who was, and who is to come.” (Revelation 1:8). Every time we sing praises to God and glorify His holy name, we are celebrating Christmas. 2. THE WORLD NEEDS CHRISTMAS. In a world of darkness, Jesus is light. In a world of sin, Jesus is salvation. In a world of pessimism, Jesus is hope. In a world of despair, Jesus is joy. In a world of conflict, Jesus is peace. In a world of hate, Jesus is love. In a world of untruths, Jesus is the truth. The essence of Christianity can be found in one verse: “For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Christmas comes around once a year to remind us of our need for our Savior who is Christ the Lord. 3. WE NEED CHRISTMAS. The Lord said to the prophet Isaiah, who foretold the coming of Jesus, “Comfort, comfort my people says the Lord” (Isaiah 40:1). When I look back over 55 years of being a pastor, I believe my main ministry has been a ministry of comfort and encouragement. This is something all of us can do. Every time we pass along Christ’s love to others, Christmas comes again. Why would we settle for anything less than God’s love for us?

Janis K. Sisco passed away on December 21, 2025, at the Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. She was born on November 25, 1946, in Detroit to Burdette and Caroline (Sproul) Kozin. In her early years, Jan enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and canning. As time went on, she found delight in feeding and watching the birds. Jan had a heart for giving to family and friends and those in need. Surviving are her daughters, Julie (Parry) Miller and April (Storm) Hiscock; grandchildren, Chelsea (Kyle) and Erika, great-grandchildren Kira and Leo; siblings, David (Linda) Kozin, Jonathan (Karen) Kozin, and Susan (Reed) Mosier; niece and nephews, Jonathan, Joel (Brenda), David Jr. (Missy) and Natalie (Lou), as well as her great nieces and nephews, Aubree, Austin, Auria, William, Annalise (Steven), Merritt, Mae, Rosemary, and Noah and close friends, Kerry Albertson and Cindy Waletzko. She was preceded in death by her parents and love of her life, Michael. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later time. Contributions in memory of Jan may be directed to Centrica Care Navigators or Friendship Wesleyan Church of Plainwell.
