Jonathon C. “Jon” BLOWERS AGE 41 - KALAMAZOO, MI
Jonathon C. Blowers passed away peacefully at his home on December 17, 2025, at the age of 41. Born on February 1, 1984, in Kalamazoo to Peter and Dawn (Moore) Blowers. Jon was a proud graduate of Otsego High School, where he completed his education in 2002 before earning a Master’s degree in accounting from Western Michigan University. Professionally, Jon dedicated his talents and expertise as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), working in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. He had a love for fishing, golf and enjoyed spending quality time outdoors. An avid gamer, he found joy in playing Warhammer. Jon was a loyal supporter of the Detroit Tigers and the Pistons. His musical talent shone through as he played the trombone during his high school years and continued to share his love of music in community band performances. He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Hannah; his parents, Pete and Dawn Blowers; his sister, Becky Minser; and his brother, Tom Blowers. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Coleen Blowers and Mari Keiser, and his grandfather, Charlie Moore, along with several nieces and nephews. Jon is preceded in death by his grandfather, Michael Blowers. Friends may visit with Jon’s family starting at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the burial at 3:00 P.M., at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego. Jack PATRICK
AGE 87 - OTSEGO, MI Jack Patrick passed away peacefully at his home in Otsego on December 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 29, 1938, in McGuffey, Ohio, Jack was the son of Role and Roxie (Hall) Patrick. Jack dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career at Reed Manufacturing, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1983. Jack loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, but his true passion was working on cars. On May 27, 1967, at the First Church of God in Allegan, he married Kay Griffith who passed away in 2000. Surviving are his three children: Scott Patrick from Grand Rapids, Todd Patrick from Otsego, and Roxanne Caswell from Kalamazoo. His grandchildren, Brian, Danny, Samantha (Tom), and Brooke; great-grandchild Harlee along with several nieces and nephews. Jack is preceded in death by his beloved wife; his daughter, Lisa Montague; as well as his brothers, Danny Fisher, Garlon and Jimmy Patrick, and his sister, Sharron Owens. Friends may visit with Jack’s family starting at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Winkel Funeral Home, until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with celebrant Nyla Merrill officiating. Lorrie L. Jamieson, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 16, 2025, at Beacon Hospital in Kalamazoo. Born on November 27, 1971, in Kalamazoo, Lorrie was the beloved daughter of Henry Jr. and Betty (Jonas) Root. Lorrie was a graduate of Allegan High School, class of 1989, and later attended Davenport University. She dedicated many years to her career, having worked for several companies including JBS, Premier Food Services at Hayworth, Enviro-Clean, and most recently, Safari Circuits. Lorrie enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected her vibrant and adventurous spirit. She found joy in collecting rocks, coloring, being active outdoors, maintaining a beautiful lawn, camping, kayaking and enjoying campfires under the stars. Lorrie also cherished her time spent at Silver Lake and took great delight in making salads and fruit bowls for family events. Music was also a passion for her, and she loved listening to it at full volume, adding to the lively atmosphere wherever she was. Most importantly, Lorrie cherished the time spent with her family. She was immensely proud of her children: Amanda (Jeremie Collins) Zeran of Allendale, Lance Zeran of Allegan, Garret (Aubrey) Zeran of Ubly, Adam Zeran of Allegan, and Aaron Jamieson of Allegan. Her grandchildren, Paul, Emma, Laura, and Kennedy, who brought her immeasurable joy; her fiancé, Buck Washtoak, of Allegan; her mother, Betty Root of Allegan; her father, Henry Jr. (Linda) Esman of Gobles; and her siblings, Lisa (Brian) Kempkers of Hamilton, Rebecca (Jason) Bohl of Otsego, Stephanie Esman of Kalamazoo, and Kristy MacDonald of Plainwell. Lorrie also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Lorrie was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ray Root; siblings, Steven and Codie Esman; and her niece, Raisa Bohl. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with Lorrie’s family starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Winkel Funeral Home, until the time of the memorial service at noon, with celebrant Nyla Merrill officiating. Deborah J. SYLVESTER AGE 71 - OTSEGO, MI
Deborah J. Sylvester, affectionately known as Debi, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born on August 5, 1954, in Swindon, England, to Jack and Doreen (Williams) Sausaman, who precede her in death. Debi graduated from Plainwell High School in 1973 and from Davenport College. She dedicated 28 years of her career to working for Dr. Schultz in Kalamazoo. Additionally, she shared her knowledge and passion for the medical field by teaching medical assistants at Everest Institute and Career Quest. She found joy in reading and camping. However, her greatest love was for her family. Debi cherished spending time with her grandchildren and found fulfillment in teaching Bible study. Debi is survived by her devoted husband, Walter "Ed" Sylvester, with whom she celebrated 48 years of marriage. She leaves behind three loving children: Michael (Mindy) Sylvester of Colorado, Jeffrey Sylvester of Otsego, and Andrew (Renee) Sylvester of Colorado; seven adoring grandchildren, Allison (Dillon), Makenzie (Marcos), Zachary, Sarah, Braeden, Ryan, and Jordan and four great-grandchildren. Debi is also remembered by her siblings, Linda (Gary) Hilliard of Tennessee and Gary (Joy) Sausaman of Plainwell, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rev. Stephen "Steve" Wayne TUCKER AGE 89 - SALINE, MI
Stephen "Steve" Wayne Tucker passed away Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, at his home in Saline, MI. He was born April 30th, 1936, in West Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Stephen and Margaret (Downes) Tucker. Steve received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY, in 1958. On November 21, 1959, in Griswold, Connecticut, he married Marie E. Tucker. They then moved to Virginia where Tammy was born and then to Wyoming where Steve was born. While in Wyoming, he was licensed as a Professional Engineer of the state in 1962. In 1968, they moved to Massachusetts where he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 1971. After graduating, they moved to Saugatuck, MI, where he was ordained at the First Congregational Church of Saugatuck in 1971 and Christina was born. After serving there for four years, they moved to Colorado where he planted the Mountain View Congregational Church in Littleton, CO. After seven years, they returned to Michigan in 1982 where he was the pastor at the First Congregational Church in Otsego until his retirement in 2001. They moved to Kalamazoo, MI, in 1996 prior to his retirement. Steve had a great passion for history, particularly US history, and passed that along to his children. He collected stamps and enjoyed photography. He had an enthusiasm for playing cards (especially cribbage!), board games, and tennis – he passed this along to his family as well. Steve was a man of strong faith and had a deep abiding love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He served in many community organizations through the years. While in Otsego, he served as president and treasurer of Lions Clubs International and served as a chaplain for local hospitals. As pastor, he presided over 100s of weddings and funerals, and he collaborated with other community pastors for special services. Following retirement, he led several Sunday School classes and Bible studies at Calvary Bible Church in Kalamazoo, MI. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling and took many family trips to numerous locations. He especially enjoyed spending the winters in Kauai and Kona, Hawaii with Marie. Steve is survived by his three children, Tammy (Brian “Terry”) Walker of Saline, Steve (Christy) Tucker of Indiana and Christina (Andrew) Dalby of Colorado; grandchildren, James, Donna, Kevin, Nate, Jon, Alyssa and Maggie; great-grandchildren, Deacon, Tommy and Audrey; sister Margaret, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marie. A Memorial Service will take place at the First Congregational Church of Otsego, 120 West Morrell St, Otsego, Michigan on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026. Back in 1899, Edwin Markham, wrote a poem which became a Christmas classic entitled, “How the Great Guest Came.” It is a story about a man named Conrad the cobbler. One morning he told his friends the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “I am coming your Guest to be.” So he got busy washing the walls, shining his shelves and strewing the floor with branches of fir. He even prepared a table spread with milk, honey and bread. He kept waiting for his Guest to come. As he watched and waited a beggar with bruised feet came to his door. He gave him shoes to wear and sent him on his way. A wrinkled and stooped older woman came. He gave her some food and she went away. A little girl came to his door who was lost and afraid. He fed her and took her home to her mother’s waiting arms. The poem ends with the following words: “Why is it Lord that your feet delay? Did you forget that this was the day? Then soft in the silence a Voice was heard. ‘Lift up your heart for I kept my word. Three times I came to your friendly door; Three times my shadow was on your floor. I was the beggar with bruised feet; I was the woman you gave to eat; I was the child on the homeless street!” The point is the Lord comes to us in different ways. It is so easy to get caught up with the busyness of the season that we miss the presence of the One whose birth we celebrate. The good news is that Jesus is always standing at the door of our hearts waiting for us to invite Him in. Christmas happens when Jesus is reborn in our hearts by faith.
