HOW TO PREPARE YOUR CAR FOR WINTER

is during the daytime The difficulty of driving at night is even more significant when wiper blades are not up to the task of keeping rain and snow off drivers’ windshields Prior to winter, inspect wiper blades and upgrade them, if necessary Streaks left on a windshield are a telltale sign that blades need to be replaced

• Purchase winter tires Winter tires may not be necessary in regions with relatively mild winters However, drivers accustomed to winters marked by heavy snowfall and/or icy roads should consider replacing their existing tires with winter tires Many newer vehicles are now equipped with all-season tires, which the tire experts at Bridgestone note provide great performance but are not designed to handle extreme winter conditions like snow and ice. Winter tires are specially designed to handle such conditions, making them a wor thy investment for drivers who live in regions where it’s not unusual to encounter snow and ice throughout the winter

• Study up on your engine oil Some vehicle manufacturers recommend different grades of oil depending on the range of temperatures a car or truck will be driven in The owner’s manual will likely indicate if the manufacturer recommends using a different type of engine oil in especially cold temperatures Even if the manual does not include such a suggestion, drivers can seek the advice of a local mechanic

• Schedule a pre-winter tuneup. Even if a vehicle is not due for a tuneup, it can be wise to have it looked over by a local mechanic before the arrival of harsh winter weather A mechanic can check the radiator, hoses and other components that could be affected by especially cold weather in the months to come. If any issues are found, address them immediately. After all, it’s better to be proactive than leave yourself vulnerable to breakdowns or other issues once the mercury drops

As fall gives way to winter, drivers can take steps to keep their cars running strong and safe in the months ahead TF22A401

Christmas Catch Phrases

Have you ever played the game, Catch Phrase? The Luchetti family plays it often, especially during Christmas break when the kids are home from college It’s not always a picture of peace My kids are very competitive They get it from their mom and maybe just a smidge from me Playing Catch Phrase feels like a WrestleMania Steel Cage Match Let’s just say, all is not calm or bright at all times when we play Catch Phrase, or any game really

There are all sorts of catch phrases we hear during the Christmas season We say, “season’s greetings,” “merry Christmas,” “happy holidays,” and, if we’re feeling a bit Grinchy, “bah humbug ” The biblical Christmas story has some easily overlooked but deeply meaningful phrases If we catch these phrases, we just might experience the hope, peace, joy, and love that comes with the Christ of Christmas So join us every Sunday in Advent at 10:40, beginning November 30, as we explore the reason for the season through these Christmas catch phrases We’ll save a seat for you! You are loved, Pastor Lenny Luchetti

COME WORSHIP JESUS WITH US THIS SUNDAY AT 10:40AM

We are a fr iendly, but not smother ing, growing congregation on mission to love and ser ve our community Our worship ser vices are shor t but impactful We also have a fun-filled and safe program for kids ages 0-10

“ARE WE READY?”

“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him ” Matthew 24:44

- revdminor1945@gmail com

The most common conversation star ter dur ing the Chr istmas season is, “Are you ready for Chr istmas? I suppose this means is our house decorated? Is our Chr istmas shopping finished?

Most of our lives are spent getting ready for something We get ready for wor k, for school, for a musical concer t an athletic event for church and many other things

The season of Advent (“Coming”) is all about being ready Many were woefully unprepared for His first advent and many will not be prepared for His second coming In the 24th chapter of Matthew Jesus war ns us to be ready for His coming

He talks about the signs of the times These signs include such things as the appearance of false Chr ists and false prophets, wars and r umors of wars, nations r ising against nations, famines, ear thquakes many will tur n away from the faith even the faithful will betray and hate each other, and there will be an increase in wickedness

Drawing from the Old Testament book of Ezekiel, “the sun will be dar kened the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken” (Ezekiel 32:7; Matthew 24:29) The point is Jesus is coming again and we all need to be ready

For believers in the living Chr ist, this is a day to be anticipated As Max Lucado wr ites in his recent helpful book “What Happens Next” “God wants us to be prepared, not scared ” The best way to celebrate our Lord’s first Advent is to be ready for His second advent

A m o n g o t h e r t h i n g s, t h i s m ay b e d o n e by spending time in prayers to God reading God’s Word, leading a life of faithfulness to God and shar ing the good news with others The surest sign of Chr ist’s bir th is when Chr ist is bor n in our hear ts by faith (John 3:3)

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to be prepared for Your coming In Your strong name Amen
