Does Treatment for Neuropathy Pain Have to Involve Prescription Drugs?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Treating a problem by masking the symptoms has never been a viable long term solution. Previous treatment options for peripheral neuropathy have been a small handful of medications. This type of pain relief is temporary. Often these treatments lead to even more health problems, or worse yet— addiction. So many people innocently fall into abusing prescription pain pills while initially using them to alleviate the pain. Many patients have been frustrated by traditional care, only to find their symptoms getting worse. It is time to look into a solution to your pain that does not involve medication.
Peripheral Neuropathy Explained
Peripheral Neuropathy occurs when nerves in the extremities are damaged or destroyed. Like static on a telephone line, this interrupts the normal communication between the brain and the skin, muscles and other parts of the body. This condition predominantly affects the peripheral limbs (legs, feet, arms, and hands).
Diabetes is one potential cause of peripheral neuropathy, as uncontrolled sugar levels can damage your nerves. Some other causes of neuropathy may include: reduced blood flow, hereditary disorders, inflammation, vitamin deficiencies, and certain medications.
There are many symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, which is essentially damage to the peripheral nerve system. Some neuropathy sufferers describe it as wearing an invisible sock, pins and needles, burning pain, or extreme electric-like sensitivity to touch. Others report the sensation of walking on broken glass or thumbtacks.
Neuropathy May Contribute to Emotional Stress and Depression.
Many people suffering with pain don’t realize that the symptoms could be due to peripheral neuropathy. It is a condition that can be misdiagnosed or ignored until it is unbearable. This can affect all aspects of your life and may even cause emotional stress or depression.
NEUROPATHY FACTS
•More than 100 types of peripheral neuropathy have been identified, each with its own symptoms and prognosis.
•Peripheral neuropathy may be either inherited or acquired through disease processes or trauma. In many cases, however, a specific cause cannot be identified.
•Peripheral nerves have the ability to regenerate axons, as long as the nerve cell itself has not died.

The Solution: Non-Surgical, Lasting Neuropathy Pain Treatment
At Albrecht Chiropractic and West Michigan Spinal Decompression we have developed a drug-free program utilizing multiple therapies to relieve your symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. The foundation of this highly successful treatment regimen is Light therapy called HealthLight. The HealthLight device consists of boot and calf pads that contain more than 250 red and infrared diodes. Light energy from the diodes increases circulation, speeds up cellular energy production, and draws water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area. Treatments are painless and gentle as the light is absorbed by the cells beneath the skin. This creates an optimal environment that helps reduce pain, inflammation, burning, tingling and numbness, and actually improves the ability to feel sensations.
The Whole Program
In addition to the HealthLight, our program also incorporates several other modalities to improve nerve function, some of which include vibration therapy, balance training, and soft tissue mobilization. We also utilize nutritional support, when necessary, to help address vitamin deficiencies and improve circulation. With this multi faceted approach, we are able to customize the program to your individual needs and achieve the most effective results in relieving your symptoms of peripheral neuropathy.
Not All Neuropathy Treatments Are Created Equal.
There are many types of neuropathy treatments available today. Do not confuse this treatment with a common TENS device that is designed to temporarily block nerve signals. In fact, it is just the opposite – it works to improve nerve function.
Are You a Candidate for our Peripheral Neuropathy Program?
Patients come to us with all types of peripheral neuropathy. The potential causes are many and sometimes there is no clear risk factor for neuropathy. Regardless, our first step is to evaluate your specific case to determine if it is a type of peripheral neuropathy we can help. If so, the prognosis is generally favorable and treatment time is predictable. Your neuropathy pain may be significantly reduced or possibly eliminated without serious side effects or potential dependency on medication in as little as six weeks.

Betty fell in love again, marrying David Mudget in the year 2001. Dave and Betty loved adventure, finding joy in refurbishing the houses they lived in and meticulously arranging their flower beds. They enjoyed 16 years together, loving on their two basset hounds, Cleo and Daisy, and many other dogs, before Dave’s passing in 2017. Betty was a lifelong dog lover, always having a companion at her side, whether it be a Chihuahua or a Norwegian Elkhound. She never liked to stay in one place and was always filled with a zest for life. Betty enjoyed wrestling matches, lightsaber duels, and slip’n’slides with her grandkids, who called her “Grandma Boop.” She was the life of the party, a passionate cook, and always had the bestlooking garden on the street. She loved Lake Michigan and spent many summers visiting South Haven to spend time on the beach. Betty is survived by her two children: Jennifer Gradwell (Michael) of Plainwell, MI; John Clemmons (Gina) of Evergreen, CO; her brother and sister: Bill and Janie; her six grandchildren: Meighan, Kyle, Tori, Thomas, Lyra, and Axel; and her two great-grandchildren: Ellerie and Junie. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Dave Mudget; her first husband, Thomas “Eddie” Clemmons; and her parents William and Martha Cramer. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of a memorial service, Betty’s close family will be having a private gathering in South Haven to spread her ashes in a place she loved. Contributions in memory of Betty can be made to your local food bank, or Toys for Tots, where help is needed the most this time of year. She was also notably grateful to the Animal Rescue Project, from where she adopted her last dog, Daisy.

“WHEN WE FEEL LIKE GIVING UP”
“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” ~2 Corinthians 4:16-17
By Rev. Dan Minor - revdminor1945@gmail.com
When situations seem to be more than we can handle, we may feel like giving up. We have a choice. We can give up, or we can move forward trusting God to help us.
Times of adversity test our faith. The supreme example of not giving up is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The shadow of death followed Him throughout His days on earth. Near the end of his life, He was tried under false charges and sentenced to death on a cross. His closest friends deserted Him. In the words of the Apostles’ Creed, “He was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He rose from the dead…” He never gave up. The only thing He gave up was His life on a cross where He died for our sins.
The Apostle Paul was another example of perseverance. He experienced extreme pain and suffering, poor health and imprisonment for his beliefs. Yet, in his letter to the Corinthians (sited above) he never lost heart and encouraged believers to do the same. Although the body eventually wastes away, our spirits are being renewed day by day. Our trials and sufferings are momentary, and cannot possibly be compared to the glory that shall be revealed to us some day.
One of the things we enjoy as great grandparents is watching our one year old great-grandson perform before us. He stands up and falls down but always with a smile on his face. When he falls down, he stands up and keeps on going.
That is what God wants us to do when we experience the challenges of life. We must never give up on God or ourselves. If we will take God’s hand, God will lead us in the ways He wants us to go.
Prayer: Dear Lord, when we feel like giving up, we will turn to You for encouragement and hope. In Your strong name. Amen.
When my oldest son, Zach, was 16 and gearing up for his driver’s license, he needed 50 hours of practice with a licensed adult driver. During those 50 hours my gray hairs increased and lifespan, likely, decreased. Zach was driving my family of five on some unfamiliar back roads on our way to some place I can’t recall. The GPS was directing us, but we came across a road blocked by a police car. Because we didn’t know where we were and because there was room to go around the police car, I directed Zach to drive past the roadblock. When we came to a second police car, the officer told us that some power lines were down and we couldn’t continue on that road.
As we headed back to where the first police car tried to block the way, the officer was pretty upset. He came to our car and started the interrogation. “Do you know what to do when you see a cop car with lights blocking a road? I’ll tell you, you’re not supposed to go down that road. Do you want to put your family in harm’s way? I can suspend your licenses and fine you $500. Step out of the car.” While Zach and I stepped out of the car to be chewed out by the officer, Amy and my two other kids began praying. The officer got so close to me and Zach we could smell the coffee on his breath. (Starbucks I think it was). He said, “I’ve been out here for hours and have seen about 1000 cars pass. You are the only one who tried to go past my roadblock.” That stung!
In the Bible, 2 Chronicles 26, we meet King Uzziah. Early on he was faithful to God and God gave him incredible success. But the success went to his head. One day he overstepped the bounds of his role as king and took on a task that could only be done by a priest. He went into the temple and started to burn incense at the altar. God sent a grace-filled roadblock. Azariah, a priest, with 80 other priests, courageously confronted King Uzziah, trying to stop him from going down a dangerous road. The king had a chance to heed the roadblock of rebuke and do the right thing. But instead of humbling down he powered up, driving defiantly past the roadblock. As a result, the hideous skin disease called leprosy spread all over his forehead. King Uzziah ran from the temple in fear. This very successful, famous, and once faithful king, spent his final years alone and dejected. Being unreceptive to the roadblock led him to have not only leprous skin but a leprous heart which isolated him from God and people.
God loves us. When He sees us being led by our lust, pride, anger, or ego down a road that can cause us or others harm, He will provide a gracious roadblock, an Azariah. The roadblock can be a spouse, friend, stranger or enemy, a song, sermon, or situation. If we ignore the divine roadblock of grace, it will do damage to our relationship with God and people. The next time God graciously puts up a roadblock designed to help you turn around and get back on the path that leads to life, don’t drive around it. Receive the roadblock of rebuke. Trust me—You’ll be glad you did.
You are loved, Pastor Lenny Luchetti
