Prep Pointers for the Upcoming Hunting Season Hunting Season Is On The Horizon, Prepare Now For The Few Weeks of Sport To Come.
Hunting is a popular hobby and sport enjoyed by millions of people across North America. Over the last 10 years, data from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service indicates that more and more females are taking up hunting.
Hunting seasons vary depending on where you live. Regulations designed by local conservation, game, fish, and wildlife departments often dictate the start and end of hunting season. Although the licensing, seasons, limits, and fees for hunting may differ geographically, the preparation that goes into getting ready for hunting season is similar regardless of geography. Many seasoned hunters realize hunting season does not begin on "opening day." Rather, it can take weeks or months to get ready for a successful season. Considering hunting seasons can be brief, preparation helps hunters make the most of their time spent in the field. • Purchase your license, tag or stamp. Many wildlife departments require hunters register in advance of the season, and this registration includes securing a hunting license. Because there is a
limit to how many animals each hunter can hunt, tags for the animals they're hunting also will be issued. Hunters planning on going out for the season should stay apprised of when licensing and registration begins and ends so they can hunt legally.
• Scout areas. The landscape can change from year to year depending on a host of factors, including construction, commercialization and weather. Areas once open to hunting may now be restricted lands. Map out your potential hunting location and be aware of any new landmarks or changes.
• Check and replenish gear. Inspect weaponry, field-dressing supplies, clothing, and other supplies for wear and tear. Address any issues that need to be fixed, or replace items as necessary. If a rifle, bow or shotgun hasn't been fired in a while, take it to a range to verify accuracy and sighting. If you hunt out of a tree stand or blind, make sure it is sturdy and in good condition prior to use. • Get in shape. Hunting often requires hiking in and out of the great outdoors in various terrain. It's helpful to increase physical activity leading up to the hunt to
prepare your body for the physical demands of hunting. • Organize and pack gear. Ensure your equipment is clean, in working order and packed away in your travel bags. Establish a system of organization and a checklist so you're certain you will have what you need. Don't forget to bring along your hunting license and animal
tags; otherwise, you may be levied with costly fines.
• Always hunt safely. It is quite easy to get swept up in the moment when tracking game. Don't let overzealousness cloud rational judgement and safety precautions. Otherwise an injury or even death can occur. TF149505

Mix together 3 Tbsp. parmesan cheese with 1 cup bread crumbs. In bowl, beat 2 eggs, salt and pepper to taste. Dip venison in eggs, then bread crumbs. Heat 6 Tbsp. olive oil in skillet till hot. Fry venison 5 mins. each side till brown. Then place venison on a cookie sheet, spoon spaghetti sauce over venison and bake in 325 degree oven till tender, I usually bake 15 or 20 mins. Then add mozzeralla cheese and bake till cheese melts.

Lois M. NEWTON AGE 92 - OTSEGO, MI
Lois passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at Alamo Nursing Home. She was born October 26, 1923 in Allegan the daughter of Thomas and Helen (McKee) Mellon. Lois was a lifelong resident of the area and had worked at Kal-Equip for many years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and doing arts and crafts. On October 19, 1941 she married James Newton who passed away in 1989. Hugh passed away on October 26, 2016 at his home in Gun Plain Township. He was born January 14, 1927 son of Bernard and Louella Sutherland. He leaves his son Kim (Rose) Sutherland, daughter Debra Sutherland, granddaughter Amanda (Chad) Mulder, grandsons Mark Sutherland, Dion Buchino, Nathan Buchino, Brandon Buchino, Damon Kahlmorgan and Tim Kahlmorgan as well as several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Judy Kahlmorgan, his brothers Robert, Warren, Bernard and sister Renabel Crowell. He was a farmer all his life. He loved fishing and hunting. Rebecca went home to be with her beloved husband, Oscar, on Friday, October 21, 2016. They were married for 56 years on earth and are now together for eternity. Mrs. Dalrymple was born in Allegan, Michigan on July 29, 1925, the daughter of the late David and Phoebe (Calloway) Kaylor. She enjoyed flower gardening, doing crafts, playing cards, fishing and spending time with her family. Rebecca is survived by her 3 children: Pauline (Dick) Northrop, David Dalrymple, and Roger (Dixie) Dalrymple; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Oakley Kaylor; and her brother-in-law, Morry Wuis. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ted Thompson; brother, David; and 2 sisters, Rosa and Virginia. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 5-7pm at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel where a memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10am, Pastor James Collison officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego, Michigan.
