The Moyer Family On October 1, 2020 the Moyer Family suffered a horrible tragedy when their home burned, due to a gas explosion. The Moyer’s lost everything in their home. All that remains are the walls of their garage. Gerald & Laura Moyer were home at the time along with two of their children. Laura Moyer and their son Cooper have been admitted into Bronson’s Burn Unit, and in stable condition. They both have multiple burns and will need to be in the hospital for serveral days to weeks. Any and all support is greatly appreciated. The Moyer’s will have to purchase clothes, shoes and the rest of life’s necessities, while they await any reimbursement from the insurance company.

Chad passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, October 10, 2020 at his home in Kalamazoo. He was born April 25, 1979 in Kalamazoo, the son of Dennis and Barbara (Ahlberg) DeLorenzo. Chad worked as a carpenter. In his spare time he loved being outdoors, kayaking, fishing, camping, riding ATV’s, playing disc golf, gardening and looking for treasures in unexpected places. Surviving are his children, Jade, Briana and Tyler all of Kalamazoo; mother, Barbara Scarbrough of Kalamazoo, father, Dennis DeLorenzo of Indiana; siblings, Scott Harmon, Todd Harmon and Shelli (Mike) Brugh all of Kalamazoo and his fiancée, Sandra VeenKant and her children, Ronald and Destiny Drijkoningen. He was preceded in death by his step-father, William Scarbrough. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Contributions in memory of Chad may be made to his family for his children. AGE 49 • PLAINWELL, MI I hope you can rejoice and be glad for me today, for I'm WALKING with my Jesus. I have never felt this way. Embraced by Heaven's glory and the power of His grace, I'm walking with my Jesus. We are STANDING face to face. Chad is now standing face to face with his Lord. He entered into his eternal home on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Chad was born on Thursday, March 25, 1971 to Fredrick and Kathleen (Brown) Wendt. He graduated from Loy Norrix High School in 1992. He attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Chad worked for WaY FM Christian radio station in Kalamazoo until the station closed. He absolutely loved his position as a Donor Support Specialist and enjoyed working with his wonderful coworkers who became his friends. Chad had a big infectious smile and an even bigger heart. He absolutely loved to laugh! He enjoyed life to the fullest and never met a person he didn't like. He enjoyed being on the computer and Facebook. He liked watching old classics on TV and following politics. He was a member of Alamo Community Congregational Church. Chad leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his parents Earl and Kathleen Atkins; his beloved grandparents, Robert (Fran) Brown of Delton and Barbara (Jack) Shoemaker of Plainwell; his step-siblings, Rodney Atkins and Wanda Lohrenz. He also leaves behind his loving aunts and uncles, his cousins who he loved so very much, many wonderful lifelong friends, and two furry friends, Annie and Lucy. He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick D. Wendt, in 1991 and his paternal grandparents, Herbert J. Wendt in 1980 and Beatrice R. (Walker) Wendt in 2012, his step-brother, Jeffrey S. Atkins in 2014 and his beloved Aunt Jo (Barb Sanford) in 2020. Chad was looking forward to celebrating his 50th birthday on March 25, 2021. A Celebration of Life party will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Due to Covid-19 final details are forthcoming. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell. Memorial contributions may be sent to the ASPCA (American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in tribute to his beloved furry sisters, Sophie, Lily and Molly or to the Alamo Community Congregational Church. We pray that those who knew Chad can say that their lives are better for having been a part of his journey.
Pauline passed away peacefully in her sleep, October 6, 2020, in the comfort of her own home. Pauline was born on September 14, 1943 in Luce County, Newberry, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late John H. and Hilda (Goldthorpe) Zellar. She graduated from Manistique High School in 1961. Pauline grew up on her parents’ farm with her 7 brothers and 3 sisters in a 3 bedroom house. They all worked on the farm growing up. Pauline watched a lot of the kids in her neighborhood and worked at Applewood Manor, the local coffee shop in Germfask. On December 24, 1968, she married the love of her life, Walter F. Schutz and started their family in Plainwell. Pauline watched her grandkids along with lots of other kids which she loved doing. She then went to work for Burchette Manufacturing for years, than went back to watching her second set of grandkids. Later she worked at Harding’s Market in Plainwell in the deli department. She loved to cook and wait on her customers. She always enjoyed herself. She was even Employee of the Month a few times. She retired on April 27, 2015. In her free time she loved to garden, cook, read, crochet and be with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids, they were her life. Everyone just loved her, she had a way about her that you didn’t have to wonder if she liked you or not. That’s what people will remember about her along with her huge loving heart for everyone. She is survived by her loving family which includes daughters, Laurie (the late Ron) Rice of Plainwell and Julie (Jim) Cochran of Germfask; sons, Frank (Ola) Schutz of Gun Lake and Larry (Marilyn) Schutz of Kalamazoo; brothers, John (Barbara) Zellar of Germfask, Lawrence (Rose) Zellar of Germfask, Louie (Rose) Zellar of Flint, Stan (the late JoAnne) of Gulliver, Steven (Marilyn) Zellar of Germfask; sisters, Lucille (Bill) Nyman of Grand Marais and Laurie (Mike) Tansy of Germfask; sisters-in-law, Debbie (the late Kenneth) Zellar of Curtis and Debra (the late Wayne) Zellar of Germfask; grandchildren, Kodi (Marya) Cochran, Katie (Dale Jr.) Mattson of Germfask, Matthew Fales of Southfield, Shannon Green of TN, Jeff Schutz of AK, Missy Schutz of SC, Carrie (Jake) Vanmantgem of Delton, Becky Schutz of Galesburg, Amanda (Kevin) Washburn of Gwinn, Bobby Schutz of Gun Lake, Jason (Jada) Christensen of Bitely, Anne (Thia) Farnsworth, Jessica (Mark) Martin and Tonya Mason all of Kalamazoo; 24 beautiful great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brothers, Wayne Zellar and Kenneth Zellar; sister, Mabel Armstrong; brother-in-law, John Armstrong; sister-in-law, Joanne Zeller; son-in-law, Ronald Rice and grandson, Johnny Christensen. AGE 82 • OTSEGO, MI Gloria passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at her home in Otsego. She was born May 11, 1938 in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Margaret (VanderVoort) Esmay. Gloria spent the last few years caring for her husband, Harold who passed away in November 2019. She then reached out to others in her church family and in the community. Gloria was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Otsego for many years and was active in the choir, Ladies Guild and with other senior members. She was a volunteer for the National Park Service for 15 years serving in Yellowstone National Park, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shoreline and Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida. She also volunteered at the Allegan Youth Home and at Gryphon Place in Kalamazoo. On June 19, 1960 in Three Rivers she married Harold Osgood. Surviving are her children, Esther (Walter) Clark, Phillip (Julie) Osgood and Kathy (Joe) Kokmeyer; grandchildren, Amber (Ron), Nate (Jennifer), Max (Danielle) and Victor; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Blake, Cody, Paul and George and siblings, Paulette (Robert) Merz, John Esmay, Elizabeth (Michael) Keech, Alice Howe and Rick (Andie) Judson. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at a later time at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, where she will join her husband in eternity.
