HOW DOES DECOMPRESSION WORK? Non-surgical Spinal Decompression is a pain free procedure designed to relieve pressure that builds up on the discs and nerves. As pressure builds inside the disc it causes bulging of the gelatinous material inside the disc. This jellylike tissue can be placed under so much pressure that it can cause the annulus, or outer band of the disc, to rupture. When the disc has ruptured or ‘herniated’, it may create pressure against one or more of the spinal nerves which can cause pain, weakness or numbness in the neck or back that can radiate into the legs or arms. Non-surgical Decompression creates negative pressure within the disc, causing the herniation to be drawn slowly back into the disc space, thus relieving the pressure, as it rehydrates the disc. Midway through the treatment protocol, the formation of Collagen begins to take place in and around the disc. These ‘sticky’ cells have the ability to form other cells including chondroblasts or baby cartilage cells. These cells help the disc to heal.

WHAT ARE PATIENTS SAYING? I am a senior citizen who likes to stay active, but last summer I fell and ran my head into a steel garage door and received severe neck pain. I had an MRI taken and they found several damaged discs in my neck. I have also had trouble with lower back pain and numbness in my toes for the past several years and an MRI of that area showed multiple damaged discs in my low back as well. I went to several Dr.’s and specialists with each of them taking weeks or months to schedule me and then even longer to get any results and none of them had any answers for my pain. They just talked and talked. I then went to Laser and Spine Institute in Cleveland and had appointments scheduled to have laser spine surgery for both my neck and low back which was going to cost me well over $25,000 out of pocket. That’s when my daughter asked me why I didn’t see a chiropractor that went to her church. I said I didn’t believe in Chiropractors. She said what would it hurt to just go talk to him at least? I agreed to try it. I decided to make an appointment with Albrecht Chiropractic Office PC and got in within a matter of days. After talking to them and having x-rays taken, they found one leg to be shorter than the other and we decided to try a treatment. After that first treatment my feet were better. Then they told me about spinal decompression as an alternative to the surgery for both my neck and low back. It was only a fraction of the cost so I decided to try it. Now I am 100% pain free in both my back and neck. I feel the best that I have in years. I don’t like to eat my words, but I am now a firm believer of chiropractic and Dr. Darl and Dr. Seth Albrecht. Jeffery T. JOHNSON AGE 42 - OTSEGO, MI

Jeff passed away at home on October 3, 2026. Born in Kalamazoo, to parents, Deb and John Johnson, on April 10, 1984, Jeff was a 2002 graduate of Otsego High School. Throughout his life Jeff worked various jobs, including the First Baptist Church of Plainwell, Chicken Coop, and Meijer. Jeff’s biggest passion was cooking, and he was very adept at making meals that tasted good and were healthy, this allowed him to drop weight whenever he needed. Jeff is survived by his parents, siblings; Anthony (Amber) Johnson, Derick (Melissa) Johnson, nieces and nephews; Trenton, Trevor, Tyler, Adeline, Juliet, Edward, Johnny, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents. A Memorial Visitation was held Thursday, October 8, from 5pm-7pm. A private burial at Alamo Center Cemetery has taken place. Patti (Patricia) Ann Hux, 61, of Otsego, Michigan, unexpectedly began her peaceful journey to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at her home. Born August 30, 1965, in West Allis, Wisconsin, to Bob and Janet (Gould) Arrowood, Patti spent her younger years in Wisconsin before moving to Otsego, Michigan, at the age of 14 and graduating from Otsego High School in 1983. She married James Campbell in 1984, and together they welcomed the greatest gifts of her life—her two children, Amanda and Jim. She later married Ed Hux on June 3, 2000, in a small ceremony in his parents’ backyard in Richland, Michigan. Patti worked at McPherson Plastics Inc. for many years before transitioning to providing cleaning services for many beloved clients. She had a passion for hunting, fishing, music, watching football, feeding and watching birds, tending to her yard, taking scenic rides, and spending time in nature - especially at her and Ed’s cabin in Bitely, which she proudly referred to as her “happy place.” Her family shares that to know Patti was to love her, unless you were a deer, red squirrel, or chipmunk - then you were likely in her crosshairs. She was lovingly known for her thoughtfulness, her passion for caring for others, and her willingness to help in any way she could. Her family and friends will fondly remember her bright and wild spirit, the way she showed her love through food and acts of kindness, her meticulously clean and tidy home, and the way she would be overcome by music, never missing an opportunity to dance. Eddie lovingly shares about Patti, “You could take the girl out of Wisconsin, but you couldn’t take Wisconsin out of the girl.” Patti is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of 35 years, Ed; daughter, Amanda (Alisha) Campbell; son, Jim (Lauren) Campbell; brother, Rob (June) Arrowood; niece, Jenna (Chris) Luna; nephew, Robbie Arrowood; bonus son, Travis (Amber) Campbell; and many other cherished family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Janet Arrowood, and sister, Shellie Arrowood. Following Patti’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life “Party” will take place Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 3pm-7pm at the Hux home on Wilmott Street in Otsego, Michigan. Patti’s legacy will live on through her family and friends, and, in keeping with her generous and caring spirit, Patti gave the gift of life through organ donation. In lieu of flowers, the family is humbly accepting donations toward funeral expenses during this unexpected time of loss.

What If God Was One of Us Is it too early to start talking about Christmas? Christmas is all about the doctrine of the incarnation when God became one of us in Jesus Christ. The eternal stepped into the temporal. The Creator stepped into creation. Divinity stepped into humanity. As the apostle John puts it, “the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us” (John 1:14). It’s so hard to capture with words the leap the eternal Son of God took when He became human. Imagine Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla, willfully giving up his wealth to become the janitor at the Tesla plant. Imagine Jared Goff, quarterback for the Detroit Lions, choosing to serve as the team’s water boy. These examples don’t even cut it. The leap of God in becoming a man is, I suppose, like a person becoming a piece of lint. The enormity of God’s sacrifice in stepping into time and space, into flesh, blood and bone is astounding. This is why I get a bit peeved when some well‐meaning person says something like “all religions are basically the same.” Nope. Not true. With all due respect, no other religion features a God who became human in order to redeem humanity by dying a brutally painful and humiliating death on a Roman cross. Confucious, Muhammad, Moses, and Buddha were not divine and did not suffer to save you and me. Jesus of Nazareth did. If I am going to give my life to anyone, it’s going to be to the eternal God who chose to suffer with and for me to save me because he loves. The Word who became flesh is my God!
