Thank you to those of you who have submitted to “the Future Sub-Committee” Update from President David Newman
Your input as members is very important towards our possible future; all as reported at the EGM on 25 February 2024.
The Future Sub-Committee is working through all submissions. They shall be reported to Ex Committee soon.
From that hopefully some direction of what and where, we should be focussing our investigations on, shall emerge. Then it will be reported back to all members as promised at another EGM within 3 months” of the one in February.
At that point we shall get a good steer I hope, from those attending; as where to focus our future on.
We have an Ex Committee meeting on 29 April and at that meeting I will be asking for the Committee to set the date of this next EGM, sometime in May 2024.
The bottom line of all this consultation, is that we as a Committee must involve members. The reason why, and I have said many times now; we must start to make a profit, like all businesses do, to survive.
Our RSA has not made a profit for 14 years or more. Always paying for losses from cash reserves. This cannot and must not continue. As a Committee, it has been assessed that “at
On Kay Chilman’s lawn in preparation for ANZAC day
current annual deficit rates (or losses) if they continue, then we have about five to eight years at best of life left’’.
No private business could survive like this. You do not run a business to not make a profit and we are running a business.
On the brighter side of things, thanks yet again to all our volunteers. Especially after our first and successful Market Day. Thanks especially to Operations and the volunteers on the day.
I unfortunately I ended up in hospital late on Easter weekend and came out just before the day.
We are looking for Poppy Day collection volunteers, for Friday 19 April. If you can help please speak up.
ANZAC day is looming, planning well under control, and the day shall run smoothly.
Also; please note, Covid is amongst us. if you feel “sick with flu like symptoms” then test, test and test. Just out of consideration for your fellow members and inadvertently
Covid.
David Newman President
