Welcome to Your Place, your newsletter about Place Shaping on Shadsworth.
What is Place Shaping?
Place Shaping is all about investing in the future of your community. We’re doing this by building modern homes, futureproofing your place, and regenerating new leisure spaces and facilities.
Place Shaping Update
Our contractors, Casey Group Ltd (Casey’s) and Seddon Construction (Seddon’s), have made great progress so far in Shadsworth. Demolition of all sites has been completed, the new Shadsworth Youth Hub and community park are now complete, and work has started, or is due to begin, on several sites across the estate.
Shadsworth Youth and Community Park
Shadsworth’s new Youth Hub and community park officially opened in August, with a wonderful family fun day to mark the occasion. A DJ, food stalls and games marked the official opening of this vital space young people can call their own and where they can connect and thrive.
Young voices had a huge influence on what the hub and park should offer. Newground Together worked with Place Shaping teams to gather the ideas of local young people to design a centre and park they truly wanted.

Both spaces will support Shadsworth’s young people in coming together to enjoy physical and creative group activities, and broaden their social network.
Incidents of Vandalism on the Park
The park is a space for everyone in our community, and it’s been wonderful to see so many enjoying it since it reopened in the summer. It has quickly become a safe and welcoming place where families, friends, and neighbours can relax, play and spend time together.
Unfortunately, there have been 29 incidents of vandalism on the park since it opened, which have damaged this incredible new space that belongs to the community. If you witness an act of vandalism or have any concerns we ask that you contact us straight away on 0300 555 5560.
We kindly ask everyone to respect the park and help us look after it, so it remains a safe and enjoyable place for all.

And the Winner is…
A huge thank you to all residents who completed our recent Shad Being Heard survey about their satisfaction, concerns and suggestions regarding the Place Shaping at Shadsworth.
We’re delighted to announce the survey feedback competition winner of £100 in vouchers is Amanda.

Amanda told us: “I was glad to have a voice, if we want things to be different, we need to speak up. Anyone who might be thinking about giving their feedback, they should, this gets them involved in the community which is really important in life and can make a real difference to their wellbeing and how they feel. I was so happy to get the call I won, and just before Christmas as well, so perfect timing!”
