Every year, Common Hope is fortunate to have generous volunteers who bring education, opportunity, and hope to thousands of eager, committed hearts. In all, more than 1,000 volunteers will bring gifts of expertise, hard work, encouragement, and more to the families that partner with Common Hope. From volunteers in Guatemala building homes to volunteers in St. Paul, MN wrapping birthday gifts— there is no shortage of HOPE being shared and celebrated across the miles. In a world filled with so many wonderful opportunities to do good, Common Hope is on a mission to ensure that every child knows that they are worthy and valued, regardless of socioeconomic status or culture. The Gift Hope Project reinforces the core belief that every child has potential for greatness and can create a better future! The Gift Hope Project sends birthday cards, motivational messages, and birthday gifts to more than 3,000 children living in poverty in Guatemala through the generosity of over 300 volunteers each year. Volunteer with The Gift Hope Project and deliver a birthday gift unique and special like each child!
THE EXPERIENCE Volunteer experiences last 2-4 hours depending on your group’s scheduled activity. You will come to Common Hope’s St. Paul office where you will assemble birthday cards and birthday gifts—one fun gift and one educational gift.
Aligned with Common Hope’s mission, these gifts of hope are designed with three objectives:

Provide a fun opportunity for a child in poverty to experience a new gift and celebrate their special day.

Continue to promote and foster education and educational resources for children in poverty.

Support and encourage an ongoing commitment of education and celebrate staying in school.
Your two hours will produce COUNTLESS smiles, memories, and an immeasurable number of feelings of support.

WHAT TO EXPECT You can expect to wrap some gifts, enjoy some cultural context on Guatemala and the people of this beautiful country and MAKE AN IMPACT ON THE LIFE OF A CHILD!
SA M P L E E X PERI EN C E: Each volunteer experience includes hands-on volunteering along with opportunities for learning and reflection. Build cultural awareness that lasts beyond the two-hour experience by stepping into the shoes of a child living in poverty.
