“Hope on Wheels” Transport VAn FOR GUATEMALA

CRITICAL TRANSPORTATION NEED FOR STUDENTS, FAMILIES & STAFF Getting from point A to point B is important! Our students and families often rely on Common Hope transportation to get to appointments at the computer lab and homework centers or when referred to health care specialists. Our staff, especially the social workers, need reliable transportation to families’ homes and to the communities we work in.

From supply delivery to appointments and everything in between, this van is literally “hope on wheels.” Common Hope has a critical need for a new van this year and we need your help to make this possible. Please consider bidding on this item to provide the funding the Operations team needs to purchase it!

The winning bidder(s) will receive recognition that could include but is not limited to; a magnet on the door, a decal inside the cab, or a plaque in its parking spot with the name(s) of your choice.

A CuLTUrAL ADVEntURE in GuateMala VIP TEAM BUILDER EXPERIENCE

AN IMMERSIVE ADVENTURE FOR A TEAM, LEADERSHIP GROUP, OR FAMILY You and your work team, leadership group, or family and friends will enjoy a customized, immersive VIP trip to Antigua, Guatemala where you will build camaraderie through a unique cultural experience.

THIS EXPERIENCE IS FOR 6-8 PEOPLE! CAROL MILLER JOINS US FROM KURT JOHNSON AUCTIONEERING Award winning professional auctioneer Carol Miller specializes in benefit auctions and fundraising. Carol’s customized mission-driven approach and engaging dynamic auctioneering style have raised millions of dollars for nonprofits and charitable organizations for over two decades.

A committed educator, mentor and advocate for the auction industry, Ms. Miller is an active leader in the National Auctioneers Association. She has served as president of the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association. Carol was inducted into the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame in 2015.

She was a finalist in the International Auctioneers Championship in 2013 and won the Wisconsin State Auctioneering Championship in 2010.

Carol is has achieved the prestigious Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation, which is the highest level of educational designation for auctioneers, only three percent of auctioneers nationwide hold this professional designation. Carol has also earned the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) designation; only 250 auctioneers worldwide have achieved this honor. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse.

18 YEARS IN SERVICE TO COMMON HOPE FAMILIES Common Hope is thrilled to welcome Lesbia Isabel Norling as tonight’s keynote speaker. Lesbia was a Common Hope social worker for 18 years. In her role, she worked alongside hundreds of families.

Perhaps most significantly, Lesbia helped identify a new community where Common Hope could make an impact. That community is San Rafael el Arado. She spent much of her time leading the programming in that community, building relationships with the students and families there. With her “magic backpack” in tow, Lesbia made deep, lasting connections with the students and left a profound mark on the community, one that is still seen and felt today when one visits San Rafael.

This dynamic duo has a long history and passionate connection to Guatemala, which they express through their enduring commitment to Common Hope students and families.

Both serve on the Noche de Colores event committee. Katie is a current Executive Board Member and Tom served on the Executive Board from 2012-2020. Both were former long-term volunteers in Guatemala and have continued to stay deeply involved in the mission.

For 30 years she and Greg returned every year, often with family in tow, helping both their social justice workmates and the organization grow. Linda sponsored many children during that time, including Rosa and Karla today. She is dearly missed here tonight and will be, always.
