SINGLE-LEG ROMANIAN DEADLIFT By Sharon Green, CPT The single-leg Romanian deadlift builds strength in the legs and hips. This exercise also improves balance and stability throughout the core.

Here's how: Stand on one leg holding a dumbell or weighted object (one weight in both hands for beginners, progress to single hand, progress henceforth to one weight in each hand).

With your arms straight, slightly bend your standing knee as you hinge your hips, pushing your hips backwards, lowering your torso towards the ground as your rear leg trails behind you to help with balance. Push your chest out, only going as low as you can without your back rounding. Pause in balanced position before returning to starting position.

This is a low-repetition exercise that should be performed slowly and deliberately: Tip: Avoid letting the weight(s) move too far out in front of your legs. Keep them close to your body at all times.

Ingredients:

* 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water * 1 tsp sherry wine * 3 tsp soy sauce * 3 cups cole slaw mix * 1 inch piece of ginger, shredded * 2 green onions, for serving * egg roll wrappers

Directions:

1. Heat up the pan with some oil then stir in the cole slaw mix.

Add sherry and soy sauce and combine. Add cornstarch mixture and stir together. Add ginger and combine together.

2. Using a mason jar cut out circles in egg roll wrappers (1 egg roll wrapper yields 4 circles).

Place a teaspoon of batter in the center of the circle then using water, wet the corners and pinch together creating a triangle hamantaschen shape.

3. Place on a grease baking sheet. Cook on 350* for about 12 minutes until crispy. Garnish with green onions. Serve with sweet chili sauce or duck sauce.

Optional: add cooked chicken or beef to the cole slaw mixture before filling up the center of each hamantaschen.
