Widows, orphans, and poor families have serious hang-ups about Purim. Everyone around them is getting ready to celebrate, but they’re afraid they won’t be part of the fun. Many will spend the day hashing and rehashing memories of Purims past, when husbands and fathers were at their joyous, most delightful best. Now they’re left with huge, aching gaps –in their fridges, around their tables, and in their broken hearts.

BIRD-DOG POSE BIRD-DOG POSE

Thebird-dog (or "quadruped arm-opposite-leg raise") is a safe and simple core exercise that improves stability, encourages a neutral spine, and helps relieve low back pain. This classic pose uses the whole body to target and strengthen your core, hips, and back muscles. It also promotes good posture.

How to perfom the bird-dog: On all fours with hands directly below shoulders and knees directly below hips, extend a leg behind you and the opposite arm straight ahead in front of you. Keep head in line with spine by looking at the floor. Breathe normally. Hold 5 seconds. Reverse. Repeat 10 times. Don't be discouraged if you wobble and find it hard to stay still at first. With practice you will quickly gain strength and control.

As with all exercise, consult a physician if there is a concern.

New DR PEPPER STRAWBERRIES & CREAM SODA is Kosher even without any Kashrus symbol, in both regular and Zero Sugar.

MILANO BAKERY BREAD and ROLLS, K-COR certified, are currently NOT Pas Yisroel. An update will be issued when their Pas Yisroel status resumes.

GREENFIELD NOODLE CO has exhausted its stock of Yoshon flour. New product will use Chodosh flour and will not state “Yoshon” next to the expiration date. Product that still states Yoshon is Yoshon.

TUMS CHEWY DELIGHTS CORRECTION: The 2/2/23 KosherGram stated that this product is marked as Star-D Dairy. Actually, it bears a Diamond-K-D Dairy symbol, and is Kosher dairy.

ICEBERG LETTUCE SALAD and COLESLAW produced by DOLE under the Dole brand name and under various private labels [store brands] normally bear the OK symbol, except when there is an issue of infestation. These labels include KROGER Brand, LITTLE SALAD BAR [Aldi], MARKETSIDE [Walmart] and others.

Currently, due to a printing issue, many of these products temporarily do not bear the OK symbol. To determine whether or not a particular bag produced by Dole without the OK symbol is in fact OK approved, consumers can send a picture of the product, plus a close-up of the Best If Used By date and lot number, to kashrusalerts@gmail.com , and we will forward the information to the OK office for their determination.

Please note that the above list of private labels refers to product produced for them by Dole. However, these labels are sometimes also produced by different companies that are not OK certified. Product produced by Dole can be identified by the lot code under the Best If Used By date. The code will begin with the letter B, N or W, followed by 5 or 6 numbers.

SUN-MAID VANILLA YOGURT COVERED RAISINS MINI-SNACKS (5 oz. bag containing 10 - .5 oz. mini boxes) mistakenly bears an OK-P symbol on the boxes. This product is certified Kosher and Dairy, but is not certified for Pesach. The outer bag correctly states OK-D.

WELLSLEY FARMS GARLIC BUTTER & HERBS SEASONING: This dairy seasoning, sold at BJ’s, bears an unauthorized OU symbol.

Chocolate Chip Cookies Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 cups almond flour

½ tsp baking powder

¼ cup melted butter or margarine

¼ cup maple syrup

3 tbsp brown sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

½-⅔ cup chocolate chips sprinkle salt

Yields 12Cookie

Preheat oven to 350º. Mix ingredients in a large bowl. (Don't over mix otherwise your cookies will end up dense & tough.) Cover and place in the fridge for at least 1 hr. (Overnight is ideal!)

Scoop 2 tbsp and roll into balls. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet.

Bake for 13-15 minutes.

Remove the cookies from the oven. Press on each cookie lightly with the back of a spatula to flatten a bit. Sprinkle with salt, and cool for 2-3 minutes before eating.
