The Piriformis Stretch Muscles in the hips and glutes can become tight, especially if you spend much of your day in a seated position. Try this simple stretching technique for the piriformis muscle to loosen your hips and help prevent or alleviate glute (buttock), lower back or sciatica pain.

1.

While seated, place right ankle over left knee, and sit up straight. Relax for a few moments while holding this position.

2. Gently lean forward, keeping your chest up. You should feel the stretch in the back of the hip of the top leg.

Once you feel the stretch, hold it there. Avoid increasing intensity.

3.

Press down gently against the inside of the right knee to deepen the stretch. Hold for 30 seconds.

Repeat the same exercise with your left ankle over the right knee.

As with most flexibility exercises, performing the piriformis stretch is more effective while muscles are warm. Therefore I recommend this stretch after a walk or workout.

If you feel pain beyond a healthy stretch, stop immediately and consult a physician.

Summer Linking our v Table to Yours Grilled Chicken and Corn Salad Chicken About 1.5 lbs. thinly sliced or pounded boneless skinless chicken breasts 1/3 cup lime juice 1/3 cup honey 1/3 cup olive oil 2 tsp. kosher salt, or to taste 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper, or to taste Corn 5 ears fresh sweet corn, husks and silks removed 1/4 cup olive oil 1/4 cup unsalted margarine Salad 2 medium avocados, diced 1 large red bell pepper, diced 1 cup grape tomatoes 1/4 to 1/3 cup fresh lime juice, or to taste 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, finely minced, or to taste 1 to 2 tsp. kosher salt, or to taste 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper, or to taste 2 to 3 Tbsp. olive oil, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

Chicken Place all contents in a large ziptop plastic bag, seal and coat evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight. Grill on a medium-high heat grill. Flip the chicken once midway through cooking.

Corn Evenly drizzle the corn with the olive oil and rub it in evenly over the corn.

Place on a medium-high heat grill for about 7 to 9 minutes, turning the ears every couple minutes by one-quarter turn, or as needed so that corn is cooking evenly but isn't burning.

After corn is cooked, cut the corn off the ears with a sharp knife, place into a large bowl, top with the margarine, and stir to combine until the margarine melts.

Salad Dice the chicken into bite-sized pieces and add to the bowl with the corn.

Add all remaining salad ingredients except the olive oil, stir to combine, and taste. If desired, add additional salt, pepper, etc.; or add a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat. Serve salad immediately.
