Duration: Four years.

Staff: Graphic designer Hannah Fishman and me . StudioFem is a new and growing freelancebased company, which offers services including illustration, fine art, graphic design and Web design (www.studiofem .com ).

Education: I received my B.F.A. with honors in Graphic Communication from the College for Creative Studies, Detroit.

Cultural Influences: Living in Detroit certainly influences my work in many ways. It is such an industrial city, full of texture and history. My surrounding environment motivates and inspires me constantly. The music, landscape, architecture and people around me all contribute to my evolving body of work. There is a certain intensity about living right in the heart of a city like Detroit. My work is almost always figurative in some way.

Each of my paintings and il lustrations has a distinct personality and attitude, which derive directly from my subjects . These elements infiltrate my work both subconsciously and consciously.

Environment: StudioFem is located in a historic building built in the early 1900s, right in the heart of Detroit's cultural center.

Philosophy: I am one of those people who loves to experiment and invent different methods of working. I do this with art forms and materials, and intertwine two distinct areas of illustration digital imaging and traditional illustration. I think there is complexity and depth in the combination of technology and paint. Problem solving and finding alternative solutions are part of my artistic process. My work usually begins with a digital composition and then translates in traditional mediums. Graphic communication is such an amazing field of work, because we have the power to reach and influence people on a visual level. I pursue freedom , don't always listen to my critics and live a passionate life.
