Chicago American Poster '64, the annual national poster competition sponsored by the Art Directors Club of Chicago, was selected from 622 entries. A highly selective jury singled out only 54 posters from the entire field, while commenting on the noticeably high caliber of the entries.

For the first time the jury elected not to give either awards or special mention to any particular poster, feeling that those accepted were of equal excellence. A representative selection is shown here.

The jury: jack Roberts, Carson/ Roberts/ Inc.; Nicholas Sidjakov, designer / illustrator; Helmut Krone, art director, Doyle Dane Bern bach, Inc.; Bernie Fuchs, illustrator; Walter Allner, editorial art director, Fortune Magazine; George Guido, art director, Needham, Louis & Brorby; Art Shipman, art director, Neiman-Marcus.

Bernard Roer was exhibition chairman.

Club News (continued) New Je rsey The 3rd Annual Exhibition of the Art Directors Club of New J ersey was recently di splayed at the Public Service Auditori um in N ewark. Awards of Excellence were given to 125 of the 1800 entries submitted. A representative selection is shown here. The exhibition committee, with the consent of the jury, chose an additional 125 pieces to hang in the show; these pieces received an Award of M erit.

Ju rors were: Mildred Constantine, Associate Curator, Department of Architecture and Design, Museum of Modern Art ; Freeman Craw, Vice President and Art Director of Tri-Arts Press; Steve Frankfurt, Vice President, Executive Director of Art, Young and Rubicam; Paul Rand, designer.

Exhibition Chairman was Alvin Beckerman .
