Check out what’s at Rolling Hills 2018-2019
Students at Rolling Hills had the opportunity to meet their new principal, Mrs. Santarpia. Not only is Mrs. Santarpia seen at arrival and dismissal on a daily basis, but she made a point to visit every classroom multiple times over the past few weeks. Mrs. Santarpia took the time to read the special story You, written by Sandra Magsamen, to each class. She presented each class a copy of the book for their classroom library.
Rolling Hill Students wore read white and blue to celebrate Constitution Day. Mrs. Gandolfi’s class discussed a code of conduct and each student signed their “Classroom Constitution”. One of the first units in Social Studies for First Graders is Citizenship. Students discussed what it means to be a good citizen and why they have rules and laws. Mrs. Carillo’s class created patriotic hearts and signed their own “Classroom Constitution”.
Playdoh can be used for many things. Kindergartners in Mrs, Gandolfi’s class are seen working on fine motor skills. Creativity has them using the playdoh containers to create cakes with playdoh as icing for decorations. Mrs. Vinciguerra’s First Grade students use playdoh to practice spelling words.
Twister with a phonics twist. Mrs. Carillo used Twister in her First grade classroom as a fun way to practice digraphs. Students had to read words with consonant digraph when they landed on a dot!
