Multi Surface Deep Clean

Code: CLO155 SchoolCare® Deep Clean is a fast-acting, citrus based cleaner and degreaser. It rejuvenates tired looking floors with its unique deep cleaning action and is especially good at removing high traffic stains. Bringing floors and hard surfaces back to their original colour, this chemical can be used in many different ways. Deep Clean can be successfully utilised on applications such as deep cleaning plastic chairs that have become grubby over time, removing ball point pen marks from most hard surfaces, or renewing the look of tile grout in walls and floors. Multi Surface Bactericidal Deodoriser

Code: CLO151 SchoolCare® Bactericidal Deodoriser kills 99.999% of bacteria and passes BS EN 1276 at a dilution rate of 1:30. It is an effective and extremely economical daily cleaner disinfectant with a fresh lemon fragrance.

This product is ideal for washrooms, toilets and urinals because of its unique ability to eradicate the cause of unpleasant odours.

Infection Control

Coping With Sickness Outbreaks The Health Protection Agency advises theat the four most important actions during a sickness outbreak are: • • • •

Effective handwashing with soap and water Prompt isolation and exclusion of affected staff and children Enhanced cleaning of the environment and equipment Control of the source (food/water).

Effective hand hygiene (i.e. handwashing) is vital to prevent transmission of infection. During an outbreak, hands should be washed thoroughly and frequently with soap and water. Some germs causing diarrhoea and vomiting (e.g. norovirus) have been shown to survive well in the environment. It is essential that there is a robust decontamination (cleaning and disinfection) regime within the institution. Cleaning and disinfection should be done twice daily as a minimum ( plus as necessary) during the outbreak.

SchoolCare Bactericidal Deodoriser Versan

Infection Control Versan Code:CLO036 SchoolCare Versan is a broad spectrum surface disinfectant for disease control. It is designed to stop the winter vomiting bug from spreading through your building, and can also be used after body spillages, such as vomiting. Versan should be applied after the spill has been cleaned up, to treat the affected area and ensure that any remaining germs/viral spores are completely neutralised.

SchoolCare® Versan is made of an aqueous solution of 2% sodium hypochlorite and 16.5% sodium chloride. Although it smells like bleach, it is a much safer, and more effective product.

Hypochlorites are known to be unstable. Is Versan any different? “Yes” The purification process during the manufacture of Versan ensures complete removal of all heavy metal ions, which normally act as a catalyst to chemically break down hypochlorites, hence causing instability. Since Versan removes these, accurate levels of chlorine can be safely obtained.

Passes

Hypochlorite is bleach, which is toxic. Is Versan also toxic? “No”.

As stated above, toxicity in hypochlorites is due to the by-product of their decomposition, sodium chlorate. With the heavy ions removed, Versan decomposes into water and a small amount of sodium chloride (salt).

Will Versan have the same damaging effect as bleach on a work surface? “No”.

Bleaches are usually concentrated to between 5 and 10% and can contain thick detergents to withstand rinsing and flushing. They are dangerous to handle at this concentration and will leave chemicals behind on the surface which will chemically contaminate and taint food. The bleach may also harm the work surface. Although Versan is less concentrated, it will have the same germ-killing effect as bleach while being less dangerous to handle.

Kills 99.999% of bacteria at a dilution of 1:24 (Passes BS EN 13704 and BS EN 1276).

Cleaning Up Body Spills Safely

Put on personal protective equipment.

Unroll the required lengths of 2 ply white couch roll, then gently lower onto the body spill ensuring that the paper lies at least 40cm past the last trace of body fluid.

Liberally apply the disinfectant to the paper, (until the paper is socked) layout at least 30cm past the speck of body fluid to inshore best passable bug kill. Leave for minimum of five minutes and clean up.

Place all paper a remaining debris in a plastic waste sack.

Knot the sack and dispose of.

Reapply disinfectant to the affected area.

Remove all personal protective equipment and place into a waste sack (apart from the goggles making sure that they have been washed thoroughly after use). The last item to remove should be your gloves.

CLP Hazard Symbols CLP Hazard Pictograms Explained Hazard pictograms alert us to the presence of a hazardous chemical. The pictograms help us to know that the chemicals we are using might cause harm to people of the environment. The CLP hazard pictograms appear in the shape of a diamond with a distinctive red border and white background.

One or more pictograms might appear on the labelling of a single chemical. When a chemical is diluted correctly the hazards are reduced, and in many cases a ready-touse product that has already been diluted will no longer need CLP pictograms on the label.
