Worthington Market Day Supplement | Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017

ThisWeekNews.com

Residents, visitors enjoy a tapestry of experiences at Market Day 2017 A colorful array of arts and crafts, food and farm products, community group fundraisers and family fun awaits residents and visitors who will celebrate Market Day 2017 on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Old Worthington. Each fall, the streets of downtown Worthington come alive when more than 15,000 eventgoers gather to enjoy this community tradition, presented by the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce with the partnership of organizations throughout Worthington. Much like the patchwork quilts and leather goods you may find

at Market Day, the fun-filled day offers a variety of experiences, such as these: • Browse and buy! Stroll among 200 booths offering handcrafted goods, foods and local fundraising efforts from arts and crafts exhibitors, food vendors and community groups. You’ll find them along High Street (US 23), from State Route 161 south to the intersection of High and South streets, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. • Shop local! Many of Old Worthington’s distinctive shops offer special sales or seasonal merchandise for Market Day shoppers. Look for sidewalk sales

and specials, and enjoy activities organized by the Old Worthington Partnership. • Chow down! Several of Worthington’s popular downtown restaurants will have Market Day food booths on the street, as well as full-menu, sit-down service at their establishments. Market Day food concessions are located primarily near the south end of the event area, and a host of caterers, sandwich shops and other food providers are sprinkled along the event route. • Enjoy family entertainment and giveaways throughout the day at community group and sponsor booths offering children’s

and family activities, product demonstrations, giveaways and information. • Take a break! Put your feet up on the complimentary shuttles offering transportation to the event area from the parking lot at Thomas Worthington High School. Relax during your shopping; bring your lunch or snacks, or meet your friends, at the canopied rest area, the AAA Hospitality Center on W. New England Avenue and High Street. Stop at the chamber event headquarters in booth #236, at the corner of High Street and W. New England Avenue, where you’ll find event directories,

bottled water and soft drinks, and refreshment for pets. • Hunt for bargains, books and antiques at community partner activities. On the southeast Village Green, the Worthington Historical Society will conduct its popular annual flea market. At Old Worthington Library, 820 High St., a book sale from the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries will be under way from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. • Stay another day. Visiting the area? Extend your stay! Stop at the Chamber booth, #236, to learn about overnight discounts from the Holiday Inn Worthington for Market Day visitors.

Use the existing equity in your “nest to help you with life’s big expenses!

Worthington Market Day Supplement | Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017

A toast to Fall in Worthington …

Shop, sip and stroll in Old Worthington While enjoying Market Day crafts, food and community vendors, take time to patronize the charming shops and restaurants in Old Worthington and to enjoy special activities, sales and menus for Market Day visitors, including … • House Wine (644 High St.) will host a tailgate party in the parking lot at The Quarter (corner of High Street and E. New England Ave.), featuring beers from Land-Grant Brewing, food from Junior’s Tacos, and a big screen television so Market Day visitors can watch the OSU/UNLV game with family and friends. The festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. The party site will include information and activities from the Old Worthington Partnership, whose mission is “to advance the Old Worthington experience.”

• At Igloo Letterpress and Swoonful Gifts (661-B High St.), you can have a hands-on craft experience as you create a Market Day While-You-Wait Make-and-Take Poster for $25. Choose from several backgrounds and personalize your very own 8-by-10-inch letterpress poster. Select antique wood or metal type to display a last name, monogram, date, child’s name, address or inspirational word. Elaine from Branchline Leather Company will display quality leather tote bags during a Market day trunk show, along with other locally sourced, handmade goods. • AR Workshop (695 High St.) will be opening on Sept. 28, but Market Day visitors can get a sneak peek of the space, while enjoying acoustic guitar music and entering

a raffle to win a complimentary class. • Balance Beauty Spa (in the Snow House, 41 W. New England), invites you to stop by for samples and one-day-only sales on natural and organic beauty. • Fritzy Jacobs has three Market Day booths, sidewalk sales and instore delights at 635 High St. • Dewey’s Pizza, The Worthington Inn and Harold’s American Grille will have Market Day food booths, as well as in-restaurant treats. Old Bag of Nails will offer all-you-can-eat fish and chips for $9.99. • Birch (689 High St.) will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a sidewalk sale. • Worthington Jewelers (692 High St.) will offer a “gem” of a sale on Market Day.

Relax at the AAA Hospitality Center Rest your feet, enjoy a snack or beverage, or arrange to meet family members and friends at a mutually convenient spot – the AAA Hospitality Center at the corner of W. New England Avenue and High Street. For the sixth year, AAA Ohio Auto Club, a presenting sponsor of Market Day, is offering a pleasant spot to relax and refresh in between visits to Market Day vendors. At the rest area, you can sign up to be an AAA member, view the AAA Bike Breakdown rescue van that is on display, and learn more about travel, motorist assistance, insurance and other AAA benefits.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Market Day, you can enjoy your favorite libations while shopping under the regulations of the “DORA.” DORA, the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, allows festival visitors who purchase an alcoholic beverage from one of seven qualified restaurants to walk throughout the defined downtown Worthington event area with their beverage in the approved container. Please note signs at the event that delineate the permitted area along High Street from Village Green Drive to South Street – and please drink responsibly. Purchase DORA beverages from: • Dewey’s Pizza, 640 High St. • Harold’s American Grille, 671 High St. • House Wine, 644 High St. • La Chatelaine, 627 High St. • Old Bag of Nails, 663 High St. • The Whitney House, 666 High St. • The Worthington Inn, 649 High St.
