Handcrafts and hospitality welcome visitors at the 2019 Market Day festival Welcome to Market Day, a Worthington community tradition, returning this year on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each fall at this day-long festival, Worthington’s downtown streets showcase a colorful array of arts and crafts vendors, food and farm products, community group fundraisers and family fun. An estimated 20,000 Worthington residents and visitors gather to enjoy the event, which is presented by the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and is made possible through the partnership of the City of Worthington, the Old Worthington Partnership, downtown merchants, and other organizations throughout Worthington. On Market Day, we encourage you to … Browse and buy handcrafted items. Approximately 200 arts and crafts vendors and community groups show off their craftsmanship and creativity along High Street (US 23), from State Route 161 south to the intersection of High and South streets. Market Day vendor booths are open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

Shop local. Many of Worthington’s distinctive downtown shops offer special sales or seasonal merchandise for Market Day shoppers. Eat, drink and be merry. Market Day food booths will offer a wide variety of palate pleasers, including Maine lobster entrées, Nepali momos and piquant Indian/Tibetan fare, savory and sweet baked goods, and all-American favorites including chicken sandwiches, walking tacos and favorite local pizza offerings. You’ll find a variety of tempting treats at downtown restaurants, bars and bistros enveloping the event area. Thirsty? Enjoy your favorite adult beverage while the “DORA” is in effect (see the related story on page 3), or look for cold-brewed coffee and lemonade shakes among the food vendors. Stop at the Chamber information booth for bottled water and soft drinks for $1 to benefit the Chamber’s scholarship fund. Enjoy family entertainment and giveaways. Throughout the day, community group and sponsor booths offer children’s and family activities,

product demonstrations, giveaways and information. AAA and First Merchants Bank are presenting sponsors of the event. See the list of additional sponsors on page 4. At noon, gather at the northwest Village Green to hear the Thomas Worthington High School Band perform for Market Day visitors. Get on board. Put your feet up on

the free shuttles providing transportation to the event area from the parking lot at Thomas Worthington High School. Drop-off and pick-up points are in the municipal parking lot behind the Worthington Inn and the parking lot at the Griswold Senior Center. Take a break. Relax during your shopping; bring your lunch or snacks, or meet your friends, at the canopied rest area, the AAA Hospitality Center on W. New England Avenue and High Street. Stop at the chamber event headquarters in booth #236, at the corner of High Street and W. New England Avenue, where you’ll find Market Day vendor directories, visitor information, bottled water and soft drinks, and water and treats for pets. Speaking of a break … the Saturday morning Farmers Market vendors have taken a one-week break on Market Day but will return the
