A “Taste” of Upper Arlington Last year’s newest addition showcased ‘The Buckeye Mobile Tour.’ The Buckeye Mobile Tour’ travels throughout the State of Ohio, engaging fans through interactive games and sponsor activities. The tours will help bring the Buckeye Spirit to the streets. One of the Corporate Tour Stops will be at the Taste of Upper Arlington. “I am extremely excited to partner with Ohio State IMG Marketing again this year. We will once again have the ability to tag the Taste of Upper Arlington’s lead sponsors in advertisements that involve any cross promotion” said Becky Hajost, president UA Area Chamber of Commerce. “With the inclusion of two 30 second commercials within the Ohio State/Big 10 Pre-Season Kick Off show that will air on 97.1 The Fan, as well as pass through opportunities at select Tour stops pro-
moting the Taste of UA, our participants should see an additional uptick in attendance again this year” said, Charlie Groezinger with SGO Designer Glass. “We will join with Columbus at the Taste of UA for the 200th Columbus Bicentennial celebration of all things Columbus by adding a special surprise,” said Becky Hajost. This year’s Taste features two exciting bands, amusement rides and more for event goers to enjoy while sampling food and learning about the products and services offered by area businesses at the 19th annual Taste of UA. More than 130 area businesses and organizations will share their cuisine, wares and services at this year’s event. Restaurants sell samples of their signature menu items and enter to win the annual “Taste of UA” food contest. Go to the Upper Arlington
Area Chamber’s Facebook page to suggest and vote on the local celebrities you think should part of the panel of food judges. Judge will taste and judge the following categories for appetizers, entrees and desserts, and then select winners for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The Bier Garten will showcase Avalon Nine. Avalon Nine is acoustic duo Linda Blaine (Circleville) and David Clutter (Gahanna) who have performed together since 2005. Avalon Nine plays a fun, eclectic mix with acoustic guitars, vocal harmonies, and a touch of whimsy. From Joni Mitchell to Bob Dylan, the duo mines American roots music for gems from notable folk songwriters past and present. Extending their reach into rock and pop, they find fresh arrangements for familiar
tunes, from Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin to the Beatles and Tom Petty. Avalon Nine covers a lot of musical ground. The Bier Garten will return once again this year and will be located at the southwest end of the park in the parking lot of St. Agatha’s church. The Bier Garten will be open from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. with Avalon Nine performing from 6:00 – 9:00p.m. “It’s a pleasure to be working on the Taste Committee for the 2nd time, and seeing the excitement that everyone brings to the table. This year along with all the great foods of UA we will be enhancing the Bier Garten by expanding it to the south-west side of St Agatha property so that it will have greater visibility and easy access. It will also be located in a grassy area under some huge shade trees and have its
