The 23rd Annual Taste of Tri-Village draws nearly 3,000 Formerly known as The Taste of Upper Arlington, this year’s event, held on August 4th, was a great success. While there were a few changes this year that changed the footprint of the event from years’ past, the event still attracted nearly 3,000 patrons and over 50 vendors. This year’s presenting sponsor was PNC Bank, while other event sponsors included Chingle, Upper Arlington Veterinary Hospital, Wright-Patt Credit Union, JackFM, James Hardie, Kroger, ThisWeek Community News, CityScene Magazine, HHH CPA Group and the City of
Upper Arlington. “We had a beautiful day, a great crowd, outstanding entertainers and a solid overall event,” said Michelle Wilson, Executive Director of the newly-formed, Tri-Village Chamber Partnership. “Overall feedback has been very positive and we had a wonderful time interacting with the local community.” One exciting addition to this year’s Taste event was adding a partnership with a local charitable organization. Patrons might have noticed a full-size COTA bus on the eastern edge of the event that was
filled with donations for the OSU Star House. The Star House serves local youth facing homelessness and other challenges. NextLevel Gives organized the fundraising portion of the event for the Star House and raised more than their goal of $60,000 to fund their project, The Abundance Bus. Four tips for reaching your savings goals By Anthony Clemente The Arlington Bank Thinking of putting away money for vacation, a car or a home improvement project? For many, getting started toward a savings goal can be a daunting idea. But if you know where to start, what once was intimidating now looks achievable. Here are four tips for making your savings goal happen:
Save first. If you’re going to embark on a savings journey, you’re going to need discipline. That’s why you should train yourself to spend what’s left over after saving, instead of saving what’s left over after spending. One way to save first is to save automatically. You can ask your employer to divert a portion of your paycheck to a savings account rather than depositing it all into your checking account. You can also use services like Arlington Bank Online to set up automatic transfers between your checking and savings accounts. Saving first is an effective way to reshape your habits if you tend to overspend because it forces you to decide between your savings goal and a potentially unnecessary expense.
Be realistic. To be successful, your savings goals must be grounded in reality. If your goal is a fairly large one, make sure you give yourself enough time to accomplish it. Too much, too soon can be discouraging and throw you off track. Lay out your goals on paper, including total costs and amounts you can reasonably expect to regularly set aside. Then set a budget by examining all of your income sources and all of your necessary expenses and savings goals. Most importantly, stick to your budget. If you find that your budget is unreasonable or too restrictive, you can always make adjustments. Just don’t forget that any changes to the amount you spend will affect your savings plans.

Are you getting the best rates for your savings-account balances? Talk to your banker. Be alert for ways to constantly move forward on your goals. Tri-Village Restaurant Week set for Oct. 31-Nov. 6 The Tri-Village Chamber Partnership is partnering with the CYP Club to present the first-ever Tri-Village Restaurant Week taking place during the week of October 31-November 6, 2016. Tri-Village Restaurant Week will feature the very best restaurants in Grandview Heights, Marble Cliff, and Upper Arlington for a full week of dining out this fall. From Monday, October 31 through Sunday, November 6, 2016 we will work with participating restaurants to offer special three-course menus for meals.
“We are expecting thousands of residents to dine out during Restaurant Week,� says Derek Grosso, President, CYP Club. “We will maintain a large social media presence, eblasts, website promotions, and text/ mobile campaigns to promote Tri-Village Restaurant Week.
