Next Level Gives raises funds for Star House drop-in center for homeless youth Next Level Trainings is a an emotional intelligence leadership program that culminates in a largescale community service project. This summer, their philanthropic efforts focus on some of the most vulnerable members of the community: children who are impacted by homelessness, addiction, hunger and abuse. Next Level has committed to raising a total of $60,000 and material items in support of OSU’s Star House, an organization dedicated to serving the needs of homeless youth in the Columbus area. As the first drop-in center for homeless youth in central Ohio, Star House has been the bridge between the streets and more traditional and intensive services. Today, 1,200-1,500 homeless youth live on the streets of Food Partnership with local vendors to purchase fresh food for cents on the dollar Support Staff 4 PT support staff needed, staff training, facilitation & welcome home package
central Ohio, and Star House remains the only drop-in center for them, as well as the only research-based, drop-in center in the country. Star House serves approximately 800 youth annually which is steadily growing each year. The facility currently receives 20,000 visits per year from youth ages 14-24 and frequently sees infants and toddlers. On Thursday, August 4, 2016 they will reveal their final results at The Taste of Tri-Village in Upper Arlington. All sponsoring companies will be highlighted on their website along with social media shout-outs; sizeable donations made prior to this date will receive on site shout-outs at The Taste event with branded signage. Every year, children in our communities go without access to basic needs while
resources go to waste due to a lack of logistical distribution. Stores throw away fresh food, while stock piles of unused medical, hygienic and dental products are discarded or sit to collect dust in disparate locations. Sometimes just a short distance from places that can use these resources most, children in need go without. The mission is to raise $60,000 and abundantly fill “a bus load” of goods for distribution to youth experiencing homelessness in Columbus. StarHouse will use donations for food, support staff, transportation, facility improvements and documentation. There are many ways to get involved from monetary donations to that of materials. Visit their website at www.nextlevelgives.com to learn more.
