Bestselling author Tracy DiSabato-Aust will give a presentation on fall gardening with a focus on incorporating unexpected fall color through perennials at 2 p.m.

Sunday is Family Day, so the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s animal ambassadors will be on stage at noon for the little ones to enjoy. And don’t miss Kevin O’Connor on the main stage, either; the This Old House star will give presentations at 1:30 and 4 p.m., with a selfie opportunity for show attendees in between.

THE SEASON OF BONFIRES and football is almost upon us, which means it’s time for the annual Dispatch Fall Home & Garden Show presented by Ohio Mulch and Rosati Windows. With winter’s weather woes just around the corner, the Fall Home & Garden Show is the perfect place to stock up on knowledge and schedule services to prepare your home and yard for the coming months.

“Everyone knows that spring is a key season for home and lawn improvements, but we can’t forget the important tasks that come up for homeowners in the fall,” says Kayla Rutherford, marketing manager for Dispatch Consumer Shows.

“Now is the perfect time of year for an HVAC checkup, power-washing your walks and siding, cleaning your carpets and prepping your landscaping for spring. At our show, you’ll find craftsmen to provide all of those services and more.”

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 7-9, you can visit the Bricker Building at the Ohio Expo Center for all things home and garden, and then some. And because the expo overlaps with Columbus Oktoberfest, which runs until midnight Friday and Saturday and 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Expo Center’s Natural Resources Park, visitors can expect special cross-promotions. A free shuttle will transport guests between the two events, presenting the perfect opportunity to enjoy a post-expo stein or two.

Also new this year at the Fall Home & Garden Show are four display gardens, each with unique takes on the theme of “unexpected fall colors.” See how landscaping can come to life before winter’s chill in these small-scale versions of the massive display gardens found at the Spring Home & Garden Show.

Each day of the expo will feature different draws. Friday kicks things off with free parking until 3 p.m.—just download and print the coupon at DispatchHomeAndGardenShow.com or clip it from the Columbus Dispatch.
