Grove City Homecoming Celebration: The Tradition Continues

rove City’s 29th annual Homecoming Celebration marks the traditional gathering of Grove City High School alumni, community members, friends and neighbors to historic Grove City Town Center from 6 to 10:30 p.m., Friday, July 27. At 6 p.m., the 2018 Service Above Self recipient will be honored in a short ceremony by Grove City Rotary members, City officials, family and friends at City Hall, 4035 Broadway. Live entertainment features RockHouse from 7 to 10 p.m., performing a mix of favorites from the 1980s. The annual Homecoming Hall of Fame induction ceremony, by tournament coordinator Eric Saxton, occurs during the band’s intermission. “Grove City is proud to welcome friends and families who gather each year for this annual reunion,” said Mayor Richard L. “Ike” Stage. “This tradition remains a true example of our community’s small-town charm.” A variety of food trucks and Town Center restaurants will offer concessions during the event. Watch or participate in the 11th annual Homecoming Cornhole Tournament from 6 to 8 p.m., hosted by City Council member Ted Berry. See registration information on page 6 of this publication. The following streets close at noon July 27 and reopen by 11 p.m.: Broadway from Grant Street to Grove City Road, and Park Street from the City Hall driveway to First Street. Weather-related cancellation information for the Friday evening events will be available at the Grove City website or 614-277-3060 the day of the event. For additional information, contact the Grove City Parks and Recreation office at 614-277-3050 or visit GroveCityOhio.gov.
