Memorial Day

Killed-in-Action Memorial to be dedicated Monday By JENNIFER NOBLIT THISWEEKNEWS.COM Dublin will remember local military members killed in action this Memorial Day as the new KIA Memorial is dedicated. Dublin City councilmen Richard Gerber, Michael Keenan and John Reiner began work on a KIA

Memorial for the city last year and approved a design for the new Dublin Cemetery memorial in January, with hopes of a Memorial Day dedication. City Senior Planner Sara Ott said construction went smoothly and the KIA Memorial was in place a few weeks before the planned May 27 dedication.

The stained glass eternal flame was one of the last pieces of the memorial set to be installed. “It’s nice to have it there,” Jeff Noble, commander of the Lance Cpl. Wesley G. Davids American Legion Post 800, said of the new memorial in Dublin Cemetery. “Prior to them building the Grounds of Remembrance in

Dublin Veteran’s Park that’s where we did the whole ceremony, at the flag pole,” Noble said. “A major part of the ceremony is still held there.” The new KIA Memorial was installed where the flag pole sat and is about 9-feet wide with two

Dublin is hoping JPMorgan Chase & Co. will soon call it home. Dublin City Council members this week heard the first reading of incentives to lure a 500-job office with the company to the city. The financial services company already has a presence in central Ohio, but Dublin Economic Development Manager Colleen Gilger said they’re filling up a huge office they have in Polaris and have been shopping around for another spot. The company is eying 165,000 square feet of office space at 5900 Parkwood Place, an office previously occupied by Nationwide Insurance. “The average wage will be $50,000,” Gilger said of the 500 jobs that could come to Dublin. The incentives offered by Dublin include a $40,000 location grant and a two-year, 15-percent performance incentive on income tax withholdings. The company must execute a three-year lease agreement and meet performance goals to get the incentives. JPMorgan Chase also has a chance to extend the 15-percent performance incentive another two years for a three-year lease extension that would keep it in Dublin through 2019. Dublin anticipates paying the company $465,000 in incentives, including the extended agreement. The city expects to see $3.1 million in income tax withholdings from the company during the
