Coffman girls look to clinch league title By FRANK DIRENNA THISWEEKSPORTS.COM The Dublin Coffman High School girls basketball team entered the final week of the regular season looking to win its second consecutive OCC-Central Division title. Before playing Westland on Feb. 5, the Shamrocks were 11-1 in the league. Hilliard Davidson was second at 10-2
after losing to Coffman 46-40 on Jan. 18 and Westland 40-39 on Jan. 29. The Shamrocks close league play Friday, Feb. 8, at Olentangy Liberty. Davidson played Liberty on Feb. 5 and wraps up league play Friday, Feb. 8, at home against Thomas Worthington. “We go to Liberty and we have a chance to achieve one of our goals this year,” coach Bryan Patton said. “We set out basically two goals – win our
conference again and win a district championship.” Coffman is seeded fourth in the Division I district tournament and will play host to Marysville on Feb. 16 in the first round. The winner will play Watterson or Westland on Feb. 20. “We match up with most teams in central Ohio,” Patton said. “We have a chance against anybody. We just have to prepare well and we have to play
well. There are a lot of good teams in central Ohio.” Coffman moved closer to a league title by defeating Thomas 80-26 on Jan. 29 and Central Crossing 50-44 on Feb. 1. Against Thomas, guards Kaylee Taylor and Quynh Vo each scored 12 points and guard Kamerine Taylor scored 10.
