Inspiring Local Love Stories Welcome to the Spring 2026 issue of Columbus Weddings. Last issue, I got to

introduce myself as the new editor of the magazine. After a stunning Fall issue— thanks in no small part to the beautiful couples, amazing community of local vendors and our design team—I was excited to see what the spring would bring. This excitement was in no way preemptive. Real Weddings submissions brought a surplus of creativity, diversity and personality that was incredibly hard to whittle down. From breathtaking floral arrangements, rich cultural celebrations and love stories so potent they were, at least partially, captured in these photos, there are plenty of ideas for your big day. This issue also contains a heartwarming story about the generosity and collaboration of our incredibly talented local wedding professionals, as seen in the story of BTTS’ Dream Wedding Giveaway. You can read more about Sarah and Andrew Devlin’s wedding starting on Page 14. When I reached out to one of our Real Weddings couples to let them know they had been selected, they told me they used Columbus Weddings to help plan and inspire their own big day. More Than a Dream BTTS helped curate the wedding of Sarah and Andrew Devlin as part of its inaugural Dream Wedding Giveaway. BY MANDY SHUNNARAH | PHOTOS COURTESY STARLING STUDIO

Three words changed the course of Sarah Devlin’s love life: “Yes!” and “Why not?” “Yes!” when she answered Andrew Devlin’s question of “Will you marry me?”, delivered over Sarah’s father’s birthday cake. Having received Mr. Crowder’s blessing a month prior, his only child’s engagement was the best gift he could have been given. “My dad was so happy. I was taking pictures of him with the cake for his birthday, then the waitress set mine down and he just started laughing. That was better than the little gift I got him!” Sarah says. Little did the Devlins know, they were about to be given a once-in-a-lifetime gift of their own. The Devlins met at the birthday brunch of a mutual friend, making their later engagement at Sarah’s dad’s birthday party a poetic choice. The pair hit it off while celebrating

someone they both love and says they never really separated after that. But in true Buckeye fashion, their first official date outside of the larger friend group to an Ohio State University football game sealed the deal. “I said to him, ‘Let’s go tailgating and buy tickets last minute; it’ll be fun!’ ” Sarah says, “It ended up being one of the best days.” A few days after their March 2024 engagement, Sarah was scrolling Instagram when she saw an ad for all-inclusive weddings vendor BTTS’ Dream Wedding Giveaway. “We didn’t find out about it until the day it closed, but it just popped up on Instagram and I was like, ‘Why not?’ ” BTTS has a history of using the business as a vehicle for good. Between donating $100 to the charity of the couple’s choice with each Friday, Saturday and Sunday wedding they book, do-

nating leftover food to shelters, leftover flowers to nursing homes and their company-wide Gives Back Week, the Dream Wedding Giveaway is the latest iteration of the company’s long reputation for giving. SPRING 2026 Columbus Weddings

“Giving back is at the core of who we are at BTTS,” says Heather Vincent, BTTS’ director of marketing. “John [Brooks], our managing partner at the company, looked at all of us at the table and said, ‘Listen, what if we give a wedding away?’ ” No one could say no. From there, it was a year of planning and figuring out which vendors might want to join the effort to make an even more impactful giveaway. With BTTS offering a $20,000 all-inclusive wedding package complete with a venue and catering, $5,000 in florals from its flower company, Fiori Florals, and $1,000 for the couple to buy their wedding bands, the giveaway was valued up to $26,000. An additional $24,000+ in giveaways came from BTTS’ local partner vendors. With everything the Dream Wedding Giveaway entailed, it’s easy to see why BTTS received more than 100 applications from hopeful, deserving couples—making it all the more difficult for the team to choose a

winner. BTTS considered factors like financial need and community involvement to help them narrow it down to the top 10 couples, but the team couldn’t agree past the finalists. So, they let fate decide for them, hosting the top 10 finalists in April 2024 at The Cove, one of BTTS’ venues. “How do you decide who’s the most deserving?” says Vincent. “[Finalists] got to meet the staff and the other couples, and then we had each couple write their name on a card. We dropped those into a raffle drum, and our managing partner chose out of that.” Sarah and Andrew were just happy to confirm that the free date night at The Cove wasn’t a scam. With the over-the-top generosity, they could be forgiven for thinking the giveaway was too good to be true. “I was like, it’s a free date night at a nice venue, we’re just going to enjoy ourselves,” Andrew says. “We had zero expectations.” “I was thinking, ‘I’m not holding my breath,’ ” Sarah recounts. “As I wrote our names down [for the raffle], I said, ‘If it’s for us, it’s for us.’ ” The couple laughs as they think back on their shock at hearing their names called, looking left and right to see if there were another Sarah and Andrew. (“Sarah and Andrew are pretty generic!” she says.) Then, the room erupted into applause. “I guess it was for us!” Sarah adds. While each finalist couple endeared themselves to the BTTS team, they were thrilled when Sarah and Andrew won. Like BTTS, the couple is big on giving back: Andrew is a therapist working in community mental health, and Sarah is a former preschool teacher who volunteers with the 3- to 6-year-olds at her church.

Beyond the gift of a free wedding, BTTS took care of the minute details that can easily add up to long to-do lists and headaches, giving the couple more time to enjoy their engagement sans wedding planning stress. With BTTS taking care of nearly all the planning and coordinating the giveaway vendors—as well as the non-giveaway vendors, such as the violinist the Devlins hired—the couple was saved from having to juggle all the moving parts that a memorable wedding day entails. The Devlins were married at The Estate at New Albany April 19, 2025. Of course, some of the most special moments are the ones no one could plan for. Including when the best man started unbuttoning his shirt. “At the end of the speech, he starts taking off his shirt and I’m like, ‘What is happening?’ Sarah laughs. Underneath was a T-shirt full of collage photos of the three of them, including the best man photoshopped into the photos he wasn’t in. “I always say, ‘I’m marrying your husband’ because they’ve been best friends since middle school, so that was really funny.” As the new Mrs. Devlin says, “Everybody deserves to have their dream wedding, but the true reward is the life you have after.” «

Wedding Ins and Outs of 2026 Here’s what trends are dominating the 2026 wedding circuit, and which are being left behind. Sarah Cox As wedding fads move through the trend cycle, couples are leaning into personalization, immersive experiences and bold aesthetics. Gen Z is getting married, and they are making sure everyone knows it is their moment!

VIDEO PROJECTION Instead of flat photos in a frame at a reception, we love it when couples have a video of their love story playing on a loop throughout cocktail hour and reception. Playing a video on a wall behind the bar or the dance floor can make a significant impact and fill empty wall space.

DESSERT TOWERS Champagne towers have been all the rage lately, but why stop at just champagne? Dessert towers are a great way to display and serve crowd favorites like tiramisu or chocolate mousse, adding an extra element of sweetness to your celebration. BOLD FLORALS Couples are looking to shake up the last few years of white and green with some personality, including vibrant reds and oranges, or even earthy moss green and terra cotta. They want their wedding to feel fresh and exciting and are using color to make those statements. Other in vogue pairings include high-contrast duos such as emerald green with a soft blush or mocha with a dusty blue. FOCUSED CEREMONIES While you may want to have your favorite people by your side on your wedding day, it doesn’t mean they have to be right next to you. Reserve the second row or aisle seats for your wedding parties to sit during the ceremony, keeping the spotlight on you and your partner on your special day while curating beautiful ceremony photos. 20

BABY’S BREATH While baby’s breath has had a substantial and somewhat ethereal moment in many wedding arrangements, florists are seeing a shift away from it. Baby’s breath was originally intended to be used as a cost-effective filler flower. However, when used as the star, or even only, flower in larger arrangements and installations, the high volume required comes with a hefty price tag. WHITE AS A NEUTRAL Couples are taking a more literal approach to the word “neutral” when it comes to florals and incorporating more taupe and greens. For today’s clients, neutral equals natural. White flowers still have a place, but they’re no longer in the neutral bucket, instead serving as statement stems in more modern, clean arrangements. INCORPORATING TRADITIONS YOU DON’T LIKE Ultimately, the day is about you as a couple. If certain traditions don’t resonate with you and your partner or don’t fit your family dynamic, then you’re not obligated to do them. Make choices that reflect your relationship and lifestyle.
