Congratulations to the 2019 Top Picks You are holding in your hands a one-stop directory of the best Columbus has to offer in a wide variety of categories. Welcome to the 2019 edition of CBUS Top Picks! Near the end of summer, we launched the fourth-annual Dispatch CBUS Top Picks. We asked you to hop on your computers and phones to nominate your favorite favorites in more categories than ever before — 152 to be exact. The top three in each category in this first round of voting became Top Picks finalists. Once those finalists were determined — and, goodness, many of you sure are
loyal to certain restaurants, stores, businesses and services — we opened the virtual polls back up once again to determine the order of the three Top Picks, including the overall #1 Top Picks. The culmination of this journey came on Dec. 11 when the Top Picks were unveiled during a gala awards celebration at St. Charles Preparatory School. (You can see some photos taken that night in this special section.) Wow, did you make your voices heard! In all, more than 400,000 were cast and 152 #1 top picks were named. Inside this section is the fruit of all that labor — the top three
In the 1947 Christmas classic “Miracle on 34th Street,” Macy’s unknowingly hires the real Santa Claus to work in its flagship store in midtown ® Manhattan. Surprisingly, Santa directs parents to other stores for hard-to-find toys. In the movie, the public’s reaction is overwhelmingly positive. The character of R.H. Macy (based on the real company founder) immediately embraces the new policy. “You cannot argue with success,” he exclaims to a room of executives. “Never in my entire career have I seen such a tremendous and immediate response to a merchandising policy… We’ll be known as the helpful store, the friendly store, the store with a heart, the store that places public service ahead of profit. And, consequently, we’ll make more profits than ever before.” Santa Claus and R.H. Macy were both right, according to the Better Business Bureau’s report — BBB 5 Gestures of Trust: A New Framework to Evaluate Customer-Business Relationships. Research suggests that trust boils
down to five critical behaviors trusted businesses exhibit: • Be honest • Be transparent • Be proactive • Be humble • Be equitable “Customers demand more from businesses today,” said Kip Morse, president and CEO of the Central Ohio BBB. “As consumer expectations evolve, especially among younger generations, we see a demand for more than just a smooth financial transaction. To be a better business in today’s marketplace is to see business as a series of ‘human’ transactions. In many cases this might require businesses to be customer centric, employee focused, forward thinking and innovative, as well as environmentally and socially conscious.” Businesses that see themselves as trusted were more likely to demonstrate they value their customers. These actions include making things right, treating employees well, putting customer service ahead of profits and even recommending a competitor if it’s better for the customer. BBB congratulates the 2019 CBUS Top Picks! For information on how BBB works to build a community that allows consumers and businesses to interact with trust, visit bbb.org.
So take a look at this section and keep it nearby for go-to’s that are beloved by your fellow central Ohioans. And I hope you’ll remember us next August when it once again comes time to make your voice heard and vote for your own Top Picks. Happy holidays, everyone! BBB’s 5 ‘Gestures of Trust’ offer lessons for today’s businesses
(and the #1’s) in all categories. One of the goals of these awards is round up the best of the best in Columbus in one handy place (in addition to this section, CBUS Top Picks from this year may be found at CBUSTopPicks.com). But another thing we envisioned these awards doing from the start was giving readers like you new options to think about. Maybe, for example, you want to try a new place to grab some Asian food. Well, three companies that will be happy to serve you — and are endorsed by more CBUS Top Picks voters than other local haunts — are inside these pages.

Rosati Windows
Dispatch Special Sections | Friday, December 20, 2019
CBUS Top Pick 2019

You have to stand behind a statement like, “The best buying experience in the business.” At Rosati Windows, led under the direction of Mike Rosati since 2000, that commitment to the customer has not changed since day one. “I realize that people have options when choosing replacement windows, so I appreciate each and every one of our customers” Rosati said. “Our prices are competitive, we react quickly to service needs and we control every decision that goes into building and installing our top-quality products.” Rosati Windows stays competitive because everything they do is done locally, right here in Columbus.
The business is a one-stop shop from the sales force, to manufacturing the windows in its 60,000 square foot facility on Roberts Road, to the installers and permitting. Keeping it local: This could be one of the reasons Rosati Windows is a three-time recipient as a CBus Top Pick. Rosati’s visibility around town and around the showroom helps, but it’s the personal touch that he places on every single order that goes through the door that has people constantly recommending Rosati Windows to their neighbors, family and friends. 2019 And in the end, what better referral is there than a happy and appreciative customer?
