The two-level clubhouse overlooks the lake of the Island Green. Guests may be dropped off under cover and walk into the main entry without navigating the weather or any steps. The entry foyer has a beautiful porcelain-tiled reception area and stone fireplace. The Majestic room has windows on three sides and is highlighted by 18 Italian cut-glass chandeliers. The top level is elevated from the back and a 120-foot rear wall of virtually all glass provides a wonderful view of the golf course. A walk-out, covered deck is ideal for outside viewing. The Majestic room can accommodate 300-plus people for cocktail-style parties and 250 people for sit-down meals. For smaller events, a sound-proof partition divides the Majestic Room into two smaller rooms. The Imperial Room accommodates up to 120 people, and the Regal Room is for parties of 80 or less.
Both of these spaces offer a picturesque view of the golf course. Business meetings are easy because of the microphone system, Bose speakers and two Plasma 60-inch large screen TVs for viewing or for showing PowerPoint or other media presentations. There is also a drop down 10 by 14-foot projection screen available. In-house caterers provide sit-down dinners or buffet-style events, all customized to your tastes. Meals start at $17 per person. OsteoStrong offers a science-based, resultsbacked way to strengthen your entire musculoskeletal system. Indeed, OsteoStrong’s process is so profound that renowned business leader Tony Robbins recently partnered with the company after using the OsteoStrong process and seeing benefits firsthand. OsteoStrong is not a gym, diet, supplement, or drug. So, what is it? It’s a form of exercise, done once a week and lasting just a few minutes. You come as you are in your street clothes. Many clients are in and out in under 10 minutes. OsteoStrong works on a principle called osteogenic loading, which enables people of almost any age or fitness level to apply force equal to multiples of their bodyweight. OsteoStrong clients achieve this in four, short trigger-point exercises, which take only a few minutes. Research suggests that people must experience at least 4.2 times their bodyweight to stimulate bone growth. Problem is, most people cannot
achieve this level safely with conventional exercise. At OsteoStrong, they can, with clients safely experiencing four to 10 times their own bodyweight. This is important for people with or at risk of developing osteoporosis, especially those looking for an alternative to drugs and their side effects. But it is also critical for athletes, because strong performance depends on strong bones. Many members have seen dramatic increases in bone density after just a few months of once-aweek sessions, despite years of declining bone density. In addition to increased muscular strength, improved balance and
posture are also positive side effect for many OsteoStrong clients. OsteoStrong clients receive instant biofeedback on their efforts and personalized progress reports charting their gains. In addition, OsteoStrong offers balance testing so clients can measure their balance improvements over time. Wonder if you might benefit from a visit to OsteoStrong? Call OsteoStrong Columbus at (614) 5477676 to schedule a free tour or take advantage of a free session. We’re located at 1246 E. Powell Road in Lewis Center, just off Polaris Parkway.

Easy ways to reduce your risk of getting sick while traveling Travel and tourism is big business. According to research from the World Travel & Tourism Council in conjunction with Oxford Economics, the travel and tourism industry outpaced the global economy for the sixth consecutive year in 2016. With so many people traveling for business or pleasure, it can be easy for illness to spread. Travelers concerned about their vulnerability to colds or other ailments may be unable to avoid cramped airline cabins or crowded restaurants, but there are ways for both business travelers and vacationers to reduce their risk of getting sick while on the road. • Stay hydrated. People may remember to drink water when sitting at their desks in the office or lounging around at home, but travelers who are busy seeing the sights or attending seminars may forget to stay hydrated throughout the day. That can increase one’s susceptibility to illness, as fluids carry nutrients to the cells and flush bacteria from the bladder. Older travelers should be especially vigilant about staying hydrated while traveling, as the Harvard Medical School notes that older men and women do not sense thirst as much as they did when they were younger. • Continue exercising. Even vacationers whose primary goal when traveling is to relax and unwind may want to squeeze in a little physical activity during their travels. The U.S. National Library of Medicine notes that physical activity can flush bacteria out of the lungs and
airways, potentially reducing one’s chances of getting a cold, the flu or another illness. In addition, exercise causes changes in antibodies and white blood cells that could help the immune systems of physically active people detect illnesses earlier than the immune systems of sedentary men and women. • Purchase hand sanitizer. One of the easiest ways to get sick while traveling is to come into contact with germs. Travelers tend to be out and about instead of locked inside hotel rooms, so their exposure to germs is likely greater while traveling than it is at home. Airport security agents may discard hand sanitizer at security checkpoints, so it may be unwise for travelers to bring sanitizer with them on their trips. Instead, travelers can purchase some at their destinations, carrying it with them and routinely applying it to combat germs. • Get sufficient sleep. Traveling alters routines, and some travelers may find themselves getting inadequate sleep on the road. Studies have indicated that sleep helps sustain a fully functioning immune system, and that chronic sleep loss, which may be a greater concern for business travelers than vacationers, can impair the immune system. When traveling, men and women should make a concerted effort to get adequate sleep each night. Traveling can be a jolt to the body and make it more vulnerable to illness. But no matter how often a person travels, he or she can take steps to protect their bodies getting sick while on the road.

Ecotourism on the rise According to the International Ecotourism Society, ecotourism is defined as responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of local people and involves interpretation and education. Ecotourism aims to promote a greater understanding of and appreciation for nature, local societies and their cultures. In a 2015 study of the travel industry by the consulting firm Deloitte, travelers expressed a heightened interest in spending on eco-friendly travel. The study also found that an overwhelming majority of business travelers (95 percent) felt that sustainability will become a defining issue for the hospitality industry in
years to come. In fact, in a 2015 report titled “Travel & Tourism 2015: Connecting Global Climate Action,” the World Travel & Tourism Council reported that travelers are increasingly expecting tourism businesses to become sustainable in the same way they expect complementary WiFi connectivity in hotels and online check-ins for air travel. Such information should be encouraging for environmentalists and travelers alike, as data indicates efforts to promote eco-friendly travel are proving effective and increasingly driving travelers to demand that tourism-based businesses meet their demands for travel that’s both rewarding and beneficial to the planet.

Pack well for a hike in the wilderness September may enjoy the title of National Wilderness Month, but any time of year is a good time to enjoy the great outdoors. One of the ways to immerse oneself in nature is to enjoy a day hike or overnight backpacking excursion. Millions of people take to trails or create their own paths all across the world each and every year. Hiking is a great way to enjoy the beauty of nature, but it also has other benefits. The American Hiking Society notes that research has consistently shown that hiking as regular exercise can improve overall health and fitness. It also may lengthen and improve quality of life. Hiking as a form of lowimpact walking can reduce risk for heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and anxiety. Preparing for a hike involves packing accordingly for the trip. These items should be brought along on hiking trips to ensure such excursions are comfortable, safe and successful. • Water: Bring along water whether you’re hiking in warm or cool temperatures. Water can be heavy, so some experienced hikers prefer to bring a filtration device or purifying tablets so they can rely on natural water sources for their drinks. • Proper footwear: Trail shoes may be adequate for shorter hikes or when you are not carrying much gear. Otherwise, opt for sturdy hiking boots with plenty of sole and ankle support. • Nutrition: Bring along lightweight food to keep you well fed. Any number of situations, including difficult trails and getting lost, can prolong hiking trips. Nutritious snacks can help hikers
maintain their energy levels. • Rain gear/extra clothing: Dressing in layers and having a change of clothes enables you to adjust your attire according to the weather conditions. Wear water-repellant materials that wick away sweat. • Sun protection: Sun protection encompasses sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. • Illumination: Pack a headlamp or flashlight, and don’t forget the batteries. Light will help you navigate if you are out after sundown. Flashlights also can be used to signal others if you’re lost. • Navigational tools: A compass and map will help keep you on course. Remember, cell phones may not work in remote areas. • Fire starter: A night spent in the wilderness may not be on the itinerary, but chemical fire starters, matches or even dryer lint can help start fires in emergency situations. • Multipurpose tool: A multipurpose tool can be used to cut items, open cans and much more. • First aid kit: Don’t forget a prepackaged first aid kit to treat minor or major injuries. Taking a first aid course is also helpful. • Toilet paper: When nature calls in nature, a roll of toilet paper can make things much easier. • Emergency shelter: Tarps, tents or even reflective blankets can be put to use if a day trip needs to be turned into an overnight stay. Hiking is a fun way to enjoy the wilderness. Hikers must pack accordingly for every trip.

Infinity from Marvin — new name, same great product and service When replacing your windows or doors, there are a lot of things to consider, and having a trusted resource in the industry can be invaluable when making these decisions. Infinity from Marvin has built its reputation as a leader in manufacturing, and now with Infinity from Marvin Columbus, it aims to become the trusted outlet for consumers as well. Formerly known as WindowPRO, Infinity from Marvin Columbus grew out of the desire of Infinity corporate to offer the best window and door replacement experience in the market. This has created two corporateowned Infinity from Marvin retail stores, one in Cleveland one in Columbus. While the name may have changed, the dedication to customer satisfaction has remained a cornerstone of the business. General manager Jonathan Kloepfer and his team work hard to educate homeowners on the ins and outs of the replacement window and door industry.
“We absolutely take a consultative approach. We understand that our products and services are not for everyone, so we are not going to force someone into that direction,” Kloepfer said. “All of our reps have a considerable background in the construction field. That is more important to us than sales experience. By taking this approach, we find ourselves to be highly referable, which is really something that we take a lot of pride in.” Judging by the feedback provided through thirdparty surveyors, customers appreciate Infinity from Marvin’s approach to the replacement process.
“People enjoy doing business with us. It is an easy and even enjoyable experience,” Kloepfer said. “By offering Infinity and Provia products, we are able to offer the best solutions available in the marketplace as well as incredible service from the amazing team that we have assembled. I am most proud of our dedication to customer satisfaction. We truly go the extra mile to ensure that our customers are happy.” Do you have an upcoming window or door replacement project or just have a couple questions to ask? Call our local office to speak with an Infinity from Marvin team member.
NorthPointe Dance Academy parents speak out about the impact of dance on their children NorthPointe Dance Academy is always identifying new ways to engage students with fresh curriculum designed to build confidence and creativity. “This was Tatum’s first year of dance, and she loved it! Between theme weeks, camps, dress-up and recitals, she had a blast!” said NDA parent Brooke Munekata. NDA also offers more than 100 class options each week, with the goal of offering something that will work for everyone. Laura Borello, NDA parent, takes advantage of evening classes to balance her full-time career. “This flexibility allows me to continue at NDA, but there are several other reasons I would choose NDA over another dance studio. The teachers are amazing, the location is convenient and the staff is always friendly and helpful,” Borello No matter the age, gender or personality
of your child, NDA focuses on individual teacher-to-student relationships allowing the teacher to grow each student’s personal potential. “Dance is a wonderful extracurricular activity for kids. They have grown comfortable with being on stage in front of a large room full of people — a skill that can only benefit them in the future,” Borello said. More importantly, NDA’s primary focuses truly are confidence, community and personalized child development. “I have been overjoyed that it just hands me parenting opportunities on a platter... Really all we want is to make our kids better people, and this is a great avenue to allow me to do that,” said NDA parent Stacey Cacchio.
