Grove City Family Dentistry Five dentists. Eleven hygienists. Eight dental assistants. Fourteen administrative and management staff. Thousands of patients. Grove City Family Dentistry might look like a large, impersonal clinic, but only if you give it a passing glance. “It starts with the facility,” says Dr. Paula Zimmerman. “From the waiting room, with our kids’ room, to all of our operatories, [which] have themes. … So instead of going, ‘Oh, you’re going to be in room 14’—which sounds kind of cold and sterile—we have a Buckeye room, we have a rock ’n’ roll room, we have a Nashville room, we have a Hollywood room.” Each of the practice’s 15 operatory rooms has its own unique theme, in fact, with matching décor and a TV on either the wall or ceiling to help “hide the dentistry,” as Zimmerman puts it. The staff all strive to further foster a sense of ease and enjoyment in the facility. Positive attitudes are the norm, says Zimmerman. “One of the comments

that we get from a lot of our patients is, ‘Everybody seems so happy here,’ ” she adds. “It has to come from the doctors. The doctors have to come in and be in great moods and be ready to do their day. And that just fosters the whole thing.” Grove City Family Dentistry opened in 1960 with a single dentist. Dr. Craig Oiler grew up visiting the practice, and he took it over after completing dental school in the 1990s. From there, the practice added Zimmerman, Dr. Brian Mitchell, Dr. Ryan Niemic and most recently, Dr. Christopher Turner. Turner followed the path of Dr. Oiler in the sense that Grove City Family Dentistry was his family dentist since childhood as well. “It was kind of fun watching him grow up, and now he’s part of our practice,” says Zimmerman. “We have a lot of staff that’s been with us eight, 10, 15 years,” she adds. “I feel like we’ve all grown up and grown old together!” The practice takes a team approach, so

patients can become familiar with the same dentist, hygenists, dental assistants and front desk staff at each visit. When specialized services are needed, patients often have a resource right in the building, eliminating the need for a referral. Zimmerman is an experienced provider of the Invisalign toothstraightening system; she uses an advanced Itero scanner to take digital scans of the teeth, avoiding the need for the traditional— and often messy and uncomfortable— impression molds. Mitchell provides Botox services, both on the cosmetic level and to treat headaches and TMJ dysfunctions. An on-site oral surgeon and an orthodontist can provide extraction services and traditional braces, respectively. With convenient hours—the office is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays and one Saturday a month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.—the practice is ideal for busy families and working professionals alike.

Ohio Health to expand medical services for the Grove City community

hioHealth has been a proud member of the Grove City community for over three decades and will be expanding services over the next 18 months with the building of an ambulatory surgery center and medical office building and the OhioHealth Grove City Methodist Hospital. These additional services will be located on 22-acres of land on Stringtown Road, east of I-71. This isn’t the first time OhioHealth has added medical services to the Grove City community. In fact, OhioHealth has been steadily growing in the community and currently offers many services to patients in Grove City in five locations, including the Grove City Health Center. “We are thrilled to continue to grow our OhioHealth services in Grove City,” said Kevin Lutz, DPM, chief operating officer of OhioHealth Grove City Methodist Hospital. “Patients here have shown us they trust us with their healthcare – in fact, more patients in this community choose OhioHealth for their care than any other health system. Our urgent care and our WorkHealth that are located in Grove City are our system’s busiest. Now, with the addition of emergency and surgical services, we will be able to provide even more types of quality care for the community.” With all of these services already in the community, the next step was deciding what else community members needed in terms of healthcare. “When we purchased this land five years ago, we wanted to make sure that we were building a place where residents could receive quality, convenient healthcare without having to leave the community,” said Lutz. “We weren’t sure exactly what that looked like, so we spent that time talking with community members and leaders, to make sure we were bringing something to the community that would be beneficial. It was determined that surgical and emergency care were most needed here and we are excited to be bringing these important services to Grove City.”

Phase One: Ambulatory Surgery Center and Medical Office Building OhioHealth is partnering with area physicians to bring outpatient surgery options to the local community. Outpatient

“

We are thrilled to continue to grow our OhioHealth services in Grove City.” — KEVIN LUTZ, DPM Chief Operating Officer, OhioHealth Grove City Methodist Hospital

surgery at ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) is a rising trend in the United States. According to MedPage Today, over two thirds of outpatient surgeries nationwide are now performed at ASCs. Now, those who live in and around Grove City will have this option nearby for their own surgeries. The initial phase of the construction has already begun – ground was broken late last year on the ASC and medical office building, which will be complete in late 2017. The ASC will specialize in providing surgery in the outpatient setting, meaning patients undergoing surgery in this building will go home the same day as their surgery and will not spend the night in the adjoining hospital. The medical office building will house many physician specialties including: • Orthopedics • General surgery • Urology • Colon-rectal • Gynecology • Gastroenterology • Podiatry

Phase Two: OhioHealth Grove City Methodist Hospital The second phase of construction has also begun and will be completed in late 2018. The three-story, 26-bed hospital is being designed around our patients to enhance the patient experience, similar to OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital. It will also serve as a connection point for other services in the OhioHealth system. With a surgical focus, the new hospital will specialize in orthopedic and emergency care. Imaging, laboratory, pharmacy and food services will also be available on site. “We really see a need for OhioHealth emergency services in Grove City,” said

Lutz. “Many patients who live here travel to our larger hospitals, like Dublin, Grant, Doctors or Riverside in an emergent situation. Now they will be able to receive care from OhioHealth even faster, without leaving the community.” In addition to providing medical services, this new hospital will bring more jobs to Grove City. OhioHealth will add 285 new jobs to the community because of this growth. With the new hospital will come road improvements to Stringtown Road, which is one of the busiest roads in Grove City. A $3 million TIF will be used to fund road improvements to Stringtown Road, such as infrastructure and widening from the hospital east to State Route 104.

Where to Go When? Once open, those who live and work in and around Grove City will have access to OhioHealth primary care, urgent care and emergency care, all within a few miles of each other. However, it is important to note that these services are not interchangeable. Curious about where to go when? Here are some examples: Primary Care – primary care is for continuity of healthcare and management of a patient’s overall health as you age. This can be for things like: • Preventive, wellness and illness care • Management of chronic diseases and conditions • Annual health screenings and physical examinations • School and sports physicals • Sick visits • Immunizations • Follow up care following an emergency room or urgent care visit Urgent Care – urgent care focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions that are not life-threatening, but should be addressed promptly. These can include: • Cold and cough, sore throat

• Allergies, sinus infections • Minor eye infections • Urinary tract infections, STD testing • Ear aches • Fever, flu-like symptoms • Minor back pain • Upset stomach • Vomiting and diarrhea • Insect bites, rashes and minor abscesses • Minor burns • Minor cuts/lacerations, wound care • Minor breaks, sprains and strains • Abrasions, removal of superficial foreign bodies Urgent care also offers on-site x-rays, select lab services, drug screens, select immunizations and sports physicals Emergency Care – The emergency department treats severe and lifethreatening conditions. These can include the following: • Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath • Bone fractures, severe cuts or wounds, burns • Chest or upper abdominal pain or pressure • Fainting, sudden dizziness, weakness • Changes in vision, difficulty speaking • Confusion, suicidal feelings, changes in mental status • Any sudden or severe pain, abdominal pain • Uncontrolled bleeding • Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea • Coughing or vomiting blood • Suspected poisoning • Pregnancy related complications For additional information about these services, please visit: OhioHealthUC.com Those in and around Grove City have had access to a variety of medical services as OhioHealth has grown in the community over the last three decades. These services include: • Imaging • Rehabilitation • Urgent care • WorkHealth • Sleep services • Primary Care • Heart & Vascular • Orthopedics • Neuro • Sports medicine • General surgery • Ob/Gyn • Gastroenterology

Mount Carmel Grove City, Community’s First Full-Service Hospital, Taking Shape A lot has happened in the year and a half since Mount Carmel broke ground on its new, fullservice hospital in Grove City. And anyone driving past on I-71, Hoover Road or North Meadows Drive can see it. Construction crews have been busy clearing and preparing the Mount Carmel Grove City site, and have most recently been installing the steel beams that will frame the main hospital building. The $355 million, seven-story hospital will anchor the specialty healthcare campus Mount Carmel originally introduced to the community in 2014, which currently features a 24-hour emergency department, imaging and lab services, women’s health center and medical office building. In just a few months, the final beams will be placed to top out the main structure. “We couldn’t be more excited,” said Mount Carmel West President Sean McKibben. “And not just for the physical progress that’s being made. We’re excited that we’re that much closer to expanding access to innovative, people-centered care for the residents of Grove City and beyond. It’s something we’ve been planning and working toward for a long time, and to see that vision getting closer to reality is a thrill for everyone involved.” The same goes for the thousands of central Ohioans

who live south of the I-70 corridor and will have their very own full-service hospital for the first time a little more than a year from now. And it won’t be just any full-service hospital; it will be one that sets new standards for safety, serenity and peoplecentered care. Set to open in late 2018, Mount Carmel Grove City will feature 210 private rooms and seven floors of clinical service, including inpatient and outpatient surgery, intensive care, a bariatric center and

a mother-infant and level III neonatal intensive care unit, and offer a full complement of cardiovascular procedures, including open heart surgery, comprehensive cancer care and palliative care. The expansion will also nearly double the size of the existing emergency department. Connected to the hospital will be a new five-story medical office building offering outpatient cancer care, women’s health services, maternal fetal medicine and physician offices, while expanding on

BEAMING WITH EXCITEMENT. Mount Carmel Grove City, the community’s first-ever, full-service hospital, is taking shape and we couldn’t be more excited! We’ll be placing the final beams to “top off” the main structure of this innovative, seven-story hospital in just a few months. To celebrate, our colleagues have been signing those beams with personal messages of good health and goodwill. Which is exactly what you’ll experience when you come to Mount Carmel Grove City beginning next year.

the exceptional primary care, cardiac, rehabilitative and other specialty services offered in the current campus office building. The campus also will be the new headquarters for Mount Carmel’s Graduate Medical Education programs. Designing the hospital from the ground up provided Mount Carmel the opportunity to create a facility that not only supports superior outcomes, safety and high-quality care, but also puts the focus on the patient experience. That’s why the new campus was designed with flexible clinical space that promotes care coordination and allows patients and families to be engaged in their care from the very beginning. There will be a number of progressive features on campus, too, including easy-to-navigate pathways throughout the facility and a bistro-style dining area with a variety of menu options. Beyond that, patients and visitors will find serene views, abundant natural light, peaceful respite areas, generous greenspace, walking trails and roof gardens throughout the campus. “Mount Carmel Grove City is going to set the new standard of care for residents of Grove City and surrounding communities,” said McKibben, “and that’s progress we look forward to seeing unfold.”

On Oct. 16, 2016, Grove City Library opened at its new home at 3959 Broadway in the heart of the Grove City Town Center, fulfilling a partnership between Southwest Public Libraries and the City of Grove City and serving as the community’s center for lifelong learning. The full-service, state-of-the-art building offers more than double the amount of public space as the former library location on Park Street did, plus an expanded children’s area, a teen room, quiet study space, expanded public meeting rooms, more public computers with internet access and the flexibility for staff to adapt in the future as use and demand grow and evolve. Harper’s Grove is an early literacy section located in the Youth Services Department. Laura Harper, president emeritus of the Friends of Southwest Public Libraries, generously donated the money used to build this feature. The area is equipped with games, crafts, books and other activities

that help children develop the motor skills and language abilities they will need as they learn to read. At the library, the goal is to help children learn to read so they may read to learn and enjoy it. From storytimes for the youngest of patrons to science-based activities for teens to military history symposiums, Grove City Library offers a wide of programs and services for children and adults.
