Whitehall Food Truck & Fun Festival offers a taste for everyone The City of Whitehall is pleased to present its fourthannual Food Truck & Fun Festival from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 30.

This year’s event will again be held on Yearling Road, between Etna Road and Langley Avenue.

The street is entirely gated off for the festival.

Visitors can enter and receive their wristband for the free event through one of four staffed gates, located on the north side of the festival at Etna Street, at the south by Langley Avenue and on both the east and west sides of the Rickenbacker Avenue intersection.

In addition to more than 30 of central Ohio’s best food trucks, two stages with live music all day, a kids’ area and a local crafts section, a few new things are on tap for this year’s event.

The City has again teamed up with Whitehall non-profit Employment for Seniors for its annual race fundraiser to support the organization’s mission of helping mature job seekers find employment. Previously held in the fall, EFS this year will host their race in conjunction with the Food Truck & Fun Festival.

The EFS Food Truck Fest 4 Miler, which is for both runners and walkers, will kick off at 9 a.m. from the football field at Whitehall Yearling High School and will end at the festival’s Community Stage near Langley Avenue, where the awards ceremony will take place. Those who register for the event will receive complimentary drink tickets and food coupons for the Food Truck Festival.

In addition, the City of Whitehall and the Whitehall City Schools have teamed up to offer more parking options for those attending the festival, sponsored by Heartland Bank, Dick Masheter Ford, the Mark F. Taggart Co., FedOne Dublin and FedEx Ground.

A shuttle will be running between Beechwood Elementary and Etna Road Elementary to take visitors to and from the festival’s north entrance.

“One thing we’ve heard in the past is that visitors to the festival have had a hard time finding parking,” said Gail Martineau, Whitehall Community Affairs Coordinator. “We’re happy to be able to offer a shuttle this year.”

Great eats The 2016 Whitehall Food Truck & Fun Fest will feature more than 32 food trucks & eating options spanning the festival route along Yearling Road.

A number of festival favorites, such as Pitabilities, MojoTaGo, Paddy Wagon, Schmidt’s Sausage Truck & Mr. Wiggly’s, will return this year.

New to the event will be central Ohio favorite Donatos Pizza, Sweet T’s Southern Style

Erin Tonnous of Alice’s Comfort Table said she’s excited to be part of this year’s festival.

“I grew up on the east side,” she said. “This neighborhood is important to me.”

As the name implies, Alice’s serves comfort food with a special touch.

Tonnous said she’s still putting together the menu for Whitehall’s event but expects to serve their BBQ meatloaf, Alice’s Burger (consisting of pork belly, fried egg and their house dressing) and their hot cornflake chicken sandwich.

“I was sad we couldn’t get in last year,” said Tonnous, who launched her truck in May of last year. “I went to the festival last year and ate.”

Rockin’ bands Eleven bands will take the Whitehall Food Truck Fest’s two stages on the 30th.

The main stage, located at Yearling Road and Etna Street, will feature local favorites like Social Crush and The Fabulous Johnson Brothers, a regular at Whitehall’s event.

17th Floor will headline the Main Stage, sponsored

by OhioHealth, Wallick Communities, Alliance Data and Rite Rug, beginning at 8:30 p.m.

The Community Stage, sponsored by Walmart, King Gyro, Priority Designs and Pepsi, will be headlined by Captain Kid starting at 8 p.m.

The Whitehall Yearling High School Marching Band will perform on the stage, located at Yearling Road and Langley Avenue, at 2:45 p.m.

“You can’t have all these food trucks without great entertainment, too,” Martineau said. “We’re excited to welcome some new bands, like 17th Floor, to Whitehall’s stages this summer.”

Family fun Bounce houses, putt-putt, face painters, balloons, a photo booth and more. That’s what visitors will find at this year’s Food Truck Fest.

The Kids Zone is located toward the south end of the festival next to Save-a-Lot. The area will feature both free and paid activities for children, kidfriendly food trucks and beverages

The City of Whitehall is happy to again welcome the Ohio National Guard, which has brought bounce houses and a climbing wall to the event for the past two years.

“Whitehall has such a rich military history, and we love

having the Ohio National Guard as part of our event,” Martineau said.
