Chi Thai Restaurant practices corporate responsibility When restaurant owner, Steven Yee, moved to New Albany with his family, he had a vision of opening a restaurant that would be a part of a community and not “just another place to eat .” Eleven years later, Chi Thai has been in business for nine years and continues to grow each year as an Asiantaste favorite for New Albany. “I think a large part to Chi Thai’s success is the fact that we have always supported the local schools and all of the sports teams in the community. Parents like to give back to the local businesses that support their children and youth” said owner, Steven Yee. Chi Thai is a Top 10 Best Restaurant Winner in Columbus Monthly magazine. Its dine-in location is on 5577 N. Hamilton Road in New Albany. Chi Thai is known for its exceptional quality of authentic Chinese and Thai food, as well as the value and culture that’s put in to the entire Chi Thai experience. With all of these ingredients, plus catering, banquets, full bar and carry out, what’s not to like? Chi Thai’s recipe for success is a combination of service, quality and business responsibility or sometimes referred to as corporate responsibility. That means
supporting local area by buying local, donating and giving back to local charities and helping those in the community. Yee believes it’s important for business owners to be philanthropic and to make a meaningful impact to the local community. Chi Thai donated meals to 18 human trafficking victims for over 3 months because the victims, from China, were unable to adjust to American food. They also provided gift cards to Target for clothes, assisted with rent and even help some of them find jobs in the communities, something the Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force or Salvation Army never asked for. Chi Thai refused compensation for their generosity. “I just hope we were able to make a difference and help get those girls a fresh start” Yee said. Chi Thai continues to improve upon their alreadydelicious menu and has some of the finest selections of Szechuan, Hunan, Mandarin and Thai cuisines for lunch, dinner, banquets or outside catering. They implemented an online ordering system to allow customers to order online if that’s their preferred ordering method. Give credit to Chi Thai and restaurant owner, Steven Yee, for their continued support and service in this community.
