Jake’s Property Service: ‘Yeah, we do that’ Jake Warner, president of Jake’s Property Services, has been growing his business since 2000. Although the name might be new to Gahanna residents, Granville area residents know Jake’s Property Services very well. Granville is where Jake Warner and his family live. The Granville High School graduate said the community has been a wonderful place to grow up and start a business. Jake’s Property Services has five major areas of service: landscaping, lawn care, excavation, farm services and home services. Warner said because the company does so many things, he started using the subhead categories to better explain what services they can provide. “Just after one year of starting my business I met my wife Sabrina and in 2002 we had our first child, Kaleigh, and then in 2005 Anna Belle came along,” Warner said. “About this time is when my daughter, Kaliegh, realized that ‘J’ stood for Jake, ‘A’ stood for Anna Belle, ‘E’ stood for ‘elephant’ and ‘S’ stood for Sabrina,” he said. “It wasn’t long after that baby No. 3 came along and we knew ‘elephant’ would be Elijah,” Warner said. “I never knew when I started in high school my family would be a part of this great experience, so now J.A.K.E.S is a family business.” He said. In May 2010, Warner and his wife decided to expand and headed toward the Columbus area to find a location. “We happened to find this amazing

Cartridge World Gahanna Promotes Cost Savings and Recycling Chris Ratchford, GLHS Class of 1988, recently celebrated his two-year anniversary as the new owner of the Cartridge World location on North Hamilton Road. Cartridge World is the global leader in selling eco-friendly ink and toner printer cartridges. There are five Cartridge World stores in Central Ohio and over 1400 stores worldwide. Purchasing high quality, fully guaranteed cartridges at Cartridge World is a great way to save money. The prices at Cartridge World Gahanna are generally about 30% less than the prices at the larger office supply stores. Customer service is a priority at Cartridge World. The helpful and knowledgeable staff can help troubleshoot printer issues and can even make recommendations for customers looking to purchase new printers. In addition to offering cost savings and excellent customer service, Cartridge World offers a much greener way to print. In North America alone, over 350 million printer cartridges end up in landfills each year. By remanufacturing and recycling printer cartridges, Cartridge World and its customers

Gratzi Pizzeria & Sports Bar is more than just beer, wings and sports Gratzi Pizzeria & Sports Bar is more than just beer, wings and sports. When I first walked in to Gratzi Pizzeria with my family, I knew that we were in for a treat! Gratzi a Tutti, which is a tweaked spelling of “thank you everyone” in Italian, is located at 10705 Blacklick-Eastern Road, next to Marcus Theaters. Gratzi has overhauled our local dining scene with amazing home-made recipes from around the world, over 20 beers on tap, barreled wine and tasteful cocktails that would please Johnny Walker himself! The Italian restaurant and sports bar has become an icon for their delicious wood-fired pizzas, juicy burgers, Italian Hero Subs, Stromboli and the mouth-watering appetizers, all which are nothing short of amazing and affordably priced. In addition to the fantastic food, there is always something new to experience with their awesome food and drink specials, live entertainment which makes for a great atmosphere, full happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. during the week, over 25 high definition TV’s and one 10-foot big screen to enjoy all the sports action in a fun and vibrant atmosphere! The Gratzi menu has something for everyone. There are over 10 appetizers to choose from but my favorites are the veal meatballs, Italian twisty rolls, sliders, popcorn shrimp and the Italian baked kettle chips. Next, choose your entrée from classic spaghetti & meatballs, Gratzi burgers, to wood-fired stromboli or
Italian hero subs. If you are in the mood for homemade wood-fired pizza, look no further! Gratzi a Tutti, has designed 14 signature pizzas, from the roasted Portobello with fontina cheese and truffle oil to another option topped with prosciutto, mozzarella, basil and fresh arugula. You watch your pizza as it’s cooked over an open wood-fired flame which gives your pizza a wonderful smoked taste. Some of my favorites are the Pizza Arugula and the BBQ chicken pizza. The wood-fired Pizza Arugula has thinly sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, Romano cheese, basil and fresh arugula, and this tops the charts for me. Gratzi is a restaurant that keeps your coming back. The appeal of an upscale classic black and white sports-themed décor is unique unlike a traditional sports bar or any other Italian restaurant for that matter. The staff is friendly and professional, and their affordable prices keep me coming back. Whether you’re sitting inside or on the outdoor patio, or at the bar after work or at the table with your family, you will be sure to enjoy yourself. Gratzi is a fun, casual atmosphere for great food, sports, beer, wine and good times. Opening daily at 11 a.m. for lunch, dinner and late night, as well as catering, they have definitely won me over as a lifetime fan! I’m looking forward to visiting their newest location in Reynoldsburg, opening this November. Well done, Gratzi!

Planning a night out on the town with family and friends can be a fun experience. Scouring the most popular hotspots and the newest restaurants falls far short of burdensome, and those tasked with such a responsibility often enjoy the opportunity to get out of the house and soak up some local culture. As fun as such planning can be, hosts must consider the needs of all who plan to attend before making any final decisions. The following are a few ways hosts can ensure everyone enjoys a night to remember for all the right reasons.
• Consider finances.
Dinner at the hottest restaurant in town might sound like a grand idea, but hosts must consider if such a feast is affordable for everyone on the invitation list. Hot new restaurants or established locales where reservations are hard to come by tend to be expensive, so hosts should make sure everyone can afford such hotspots before making any reservations. Peruse menus online when looking for a restaurant, paying particular attention to the average cost of an entree at each restaurant you’re considering. When planning a dinner for an especially large party, call each restaurant to determine if they offer limited menus to larger parties. Many restaurants do this for parties of 15 or more, charging a set price per person, and that price is not always less expensive than it would be to dine a la carte. When necessary, find a restaurant where the
cost per person is within reason so no one feels like they need to skip the night out on the town due to financial constraints.
• Choose a central location.
Whether you’re getting together for a sit-down dinner or just drinks, choose a location that’s easily accessible for everyone on the guest list. Doing so increases the likelihood that guests will make it out. A location that’s near to all also allows both you and your guests to spend more time together and less time traveling.
• Choose a location that’s accessible by public transportation. In addition to finding a
central location, hosts also should look for a location with easy access to public transportation. This helps guests avoid sitting in traffic, and it’s also safe when nights out on the town will involve drinking alcohol,
reducing the risk that you or your guests will get behind the wheel when it’s safer to take a cab.
• Consider the needs of every guest. When planning a night on
the town, hosts must consider the needs of each individual guest before making any reservations or concrete plans. For example, if the group includes a guest with a physical disability, then any gathering spot you choose must be wheelchair accessible and have wheelchair accessible restrooms. Another thing to consider is each guest’s lifestyle choices. If one guest does not consume alcohol, then try to organize a night out on the town that involves more than just hopping from bar to bar.
• Solicit ideas. If you’re having trouble planning a fun night for all, solicit some ideas from those you invited. Just because you’re hosting the gathering and acting as the go-to guy or gal for those with questions about the night does not mean you can’t ask some questions of your own. finances are the last thing you want Ask guests what they want to worry about. Health care costs to do, and remember that can accumulate quickly, even after no idea is too outlandish. your insurance covers some of the If you decide to center the expenses.Health Savings Accounts night around a particular (HSAs) can help offset most, if not all activity, just make sure it’s of your out-of-pocket expenses, and something everyone on can be used for you, your spouse and the guest list can particiyour dependents. pate in.
Know your saving options Everyone knows the importance of having money saved, but we also know that sometimes life can get in the way. Unexpected expenses such as family or health emergencies, being laid off from a job, car problems or simply needing a new furnace can quickly drain a savings account without proper planning. Here are a few options to help grow your savings. 1. Find the savings account that’s right for you: Most banking institutions offer many different savings accounts with different interest rates, and it’s important to find the one that fits your plan. Perks such as automatic savings transfer or higher interest rates based on the amount in your account are just a few things to consider. At Telhio Credit Union, the “Own the Change program allows you to sweep debit purchases rounded up to the nearest dollar into your savings account – like putting your spare change in a jar and then earning interest on it! 2. Consider a Health Savings Account: During a health emergency,
3. Get higher rates by saving more over time: If you can afford to place your money in deposit for a set period of time, a certificate of deposit might be right for you. Money markets and high yield checking accounts are also good options. Telhio has outstanding rates on these products. More information is available at telhio.org. Telhio Credit Union is open to everyone who lives, works, worships or attends school within Franklin, Fairfield and Delaware counties and surrounding communities. Founded in 1934, Telhio is a not-for-profit financial cooperative where its members are also its owners. Telhio offers six branching offices throughout central Ohio and nearly 4,000 shared branching locations nationwide. Federally insured by NCUA. Additional coverage up to $250,000 provided by Excess Share Insurance Corporation, a licensed insurance company.
• Be specific when sharing information about the night. Once
all of the plans have been made, be as specific as possible when sharing those plans. Give an address for each place you plan to visit on the night and encourage guests to make use of their cars’ GPS systems or online navigation websites so everyone gets there without any trouble. Charge your cellular phone right before you head out for the night so the phone does not die should anyone call and ask for last-minute directions or instructions.

Did you know? When hosting a dinner party, hosts might be asked to provide some glutenfree foods. Gluten is a general name for proteins found in wheat that help foods maintain their shape. But gluten also can be found in cereal grains such as rye and barley as well as a variety of crossbreeds. Gluten is not unhealthy, but many people are glutenintolerant. When such people, who may suffer from celiac disease, consume gluten, they may be triggering an immune system response that damages their intestines and prevents them from absorbing nutrients they need to stay healthy. Some gluten-intolerant people may
be suffering from a wheat allergy that can produce various reactions to wheat allergens. Party hosts concerned about guests with a gluten intolerance may want to consult those guests about which foods they can and cannot eat. A gluten-free diet typically forbids gluten-intolerant men, women and children from consuming bread, beer, french fries, pasta, salad dressing, soy sauce, and certain soups. However, many food manufacturers have begun to produce gluten-free alternatives to popular foods and beverages, making it easier than ever for dinner party hosts to cater to glutenintolerant guests.
