From the very beginning of this journey, the Dublin Foundation has honored the past, engaged in the present, and secured the future. Originally created as the Dublin Fund of the Columbus Foundation by a small group of village residents, the Foundation received its’ 501c3 designation by the IRS in 2004, and formally became the Dublin Foundation.

While the Dublin Foundation continues to remain true to the vision set forth at its creation, it also is paving the way for community members and organizations to make their own mark on the community.

Through the establishment

of donor-advised funds, the Foundation invests the funds of the donor, but the donor maintains control of how those funds are dispersed to impact the specific change sought through the philanthropic gift.

First Responders’ Scholarship Fund

On the 10th Anniversary of the 9.11 terrorist attacks on our country, the Dublin Foundation collaborated with the City of Dublin and Washington Township, as well as numerous other community organizations, to pay tribute to those who lost their lives. The Field of Honor was an awe-inspiring display of 3,000 flags on the Dublin Coffman High School practice fields. Just as the events of 9.11 impacted the very core of America, the Field of Honor impacted the Dublin community in a way not often seen.

It was an amazing event that truly brought the community together to remember and honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice on 9.11. And as a means to continue the legacy of that event and the spirit of togetherness it bore in the community, the First Responders’ Scholarship Fund of the Dublin Foundation was created. The flags flown at the Field of Honor were made available for purchase, with the contributions going to the Scholarship Fund. Purchase of the flags and donations to the Fund has become an ideal way to continue to honor those

Nick Rozanski Memorial Foundation

In April of 2012, one of Dublin’s own made the ultimate sacrifice to his country.

Nicholas J. Rozanski was killed in the line of duty while serving in northern Afghanistan as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Seeking to make something good out of the worst of tragedies, Nick’s wife, Jenny, worked with the Dublin Foundation to create the Nick Rozanski Memorial Foundation to benefit students and families within the local Dublin community through scholarships and other charitable foundations. The scholarships will enable future generations of young, courageous men and women like Nick to follow their dreams. Moreover, the Foundation will provide Nick’s family a way to touch the lives of others year-after-year in honor of their husband and father, and will serve as a way to give back to the community that Nick was such a big part of and had given so much to him.

Celebrating Dublin’s Past, Present and Future

While Dublin has come a long way over the past century, one thing remains true – everyone loves a good party!

And the Emerald Celebration – formerly known as the Emerald Ball – has been that party for the past 30 years. The primary fundraiser of the Dublin Foundation, and with the support of the corporate community, City leaders, and residents, the Emerald Celebration has become a signature event within Dublin.

Plans are already underway for Emerald Celebration 2013, which will be held on February 23, 2013, at the Marriott North-

west. It will be an evening of fun and philanthropy, during which attendees will have the opportunity to reminisce about the past, celebrate the present and the good works being done every day, and look forward to the future that is on the horizon.

It is the Foundation’s belief that ‘tall oaks from little acorns grow’ and that the work of the Dublin Foundation is only possible through the generous spirit of the Dublin community and those individuals and corporate residents who graciously give of their time, treasure, and talent. Twelve years ago, when Scott Cevasco, and his wife, Beth, started their first store in Akron, Ohio, they were a traditional jewelry store selling diamond studs and three stone rings. But Scott wasn’t satisfied. “I didn’t like the quality of the jewelry that was offered,” he said.

“Gemstones were held with tiny little prongs and the pieces were so light weight, they bent!”

So they invested in CAD (computer aided design) technology and reinvented their store. Customers are encouraged to make appointments with one of their designers, bring in their jewelry box and prepare to have fun!

“We can redesign something that the customer already has, or start from scratch with all new gemstones,” said Scott.

“By reusing diamonds, the price of the piece is dramatically lowered.

And gold can be traded in too, further lowering the cost.”

Speaking of cost,

Scott Cevasco and wife, Beth, are the owners of Scott’s Custom Jewelers at 3536 W. Dublin-Grandville Rd. designing at Scott’s is very affordable.

“You are part of the team, so we don’t charge for designs – only materials and labor,” explained Scott. “And we’ll change the design as many times as needed, because we want it to be perfect.”
