Ninth Annual Taste of Grandview & Tailgate had great mix of food and fun It was a picture perfect day for the 9th Annual Taste of Grandview & Tailgate on September 13, 2014. Sun and perfect 70-degree temperatures were enjoyed by about 2,000 people at this year’s event. For the first time in event history, there were two presenting sponsors; Wright-Patt Credit Union, new to the Grandview Area and located in the Grandview Yard, and AT&T Uverse, that soon will be servicing the Grandviewproper area, and currently serves the Columbus portion of the 43212 zip code. Other sponsors who supported the event were: Tom & Jerry’s Auto Service, Title Boxing, The City of Grandview Heights, Destination Grandview, Starburst Media, Barnes & Thornburg, Cliing Marketing, Noteworthy Music, TriVillage Mentor League and Car2Go. There were many new restaurant participants this year, too. “The feedback I have received since the event has been very positive and everyone loved the mix of restaurants and their offerings,” said Michelle Wilson of the Grandview Area Chamber. “We had a few returning restaurants and several newcomers this year for patrons to enjoy.” Restaurants this year included: Marhsall’s Grandview, Yats Cajun Creole, Whole Foods, Jobu Ramen, The Oilerie, Columbus Fish Market, Dewey’s Pizza, Red Hook Grill, Cap City Fine Diner, Miller’s Ale House, Skyward Grille, Aladdin’s Eatery, Local Cantina and Matt the Miller’s. The beer served this year also was local to Grandview; Four String Brewery and Zauber Brewing.

Thank you sponsors, volunteers, participants and community for making the Taste a great success! Two years ago we added a beer garden to the event, but we also wanted to offer the community a balance of family activities. We added a large screen to cheer on the Buckeyes, this year on a 16x9’ LED wall from Hughies AudioVisual, and invited local sports teams to join us at the event. The Ohio Machine and the Columbus Crew joined us, and the TriVillage Mentor League provided children’s activities. And, we can’t forget our amazing entertainers throughout the day. New Basics Brass Band opened the show with some fantastic jazz and a few tunes to get us ready for the game. SupaFun Band, a whimsical group including trumpet, tuba, trombone played a halftime show full of Buckeye cheer. The post-game entertainment was none other than Mary Ervin and her group of Jolly Steppers. This event just wouldn’t be the same without them! Thank you to everyone who volunteered, sponsored and helped bring this annual community event to life. And, thanks to all of you who came out that Saturday afternoon to enjoy delicious food, local beer, family activities and entertainment. We’ll see you again next year for the event’s 10th Anniversary!
