Continue to reduce the amount you pay to the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Even with the recent dividends issued by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation back to the hard-working employers of Ohio, your organization should still consider evaluating participation in an alternative rating program now for the 2014 policy year to further increase your savings. Through our workers’ compensation third party administrator, CompManagement, Inc., your organization can see how participation in a program will impact your costs as well as how these programs can be stacked together to achieve the maximum savings available for your organization. • Group Rating Program: Upfront discounts typically range between 15 percent to the maximum discount available from the Ohio

Bureau of Workers’ Compensation which for policy year 2013 was 53 percent. • Group Retrospective Program: Retrospective refunds typically range between 25 – 50 percent; this program may be a good alternative discount program for companies that may not be eligible for Group Rating but have an individual premium over $15,000 and a focus on safety, emphasis on transitional duty and other cost containment strategies. • Stacking Options: Add on participation in Destination Excellence (1 – 3 percent), Drug Free Safety Program (4 – 7 percent), $15k Medical Only Program, and Safety Council performance bonus (2 percent) when participating in Group Rating.  If participating in

Group Retrospective Rating, add on Destination Excellence (1 – 3 percent) and Safety Council participation discount (2 percent). Already participating in a program and want more than a projection of savings that may actually be producing higher premiums than necessary? CompManagement’s unique approach to Group Rating and Group Retrospective Rating has helped thousands of employers receive substantial premium reductions. Take this free, no-obligation opportunity to explore your options for 2014 before automatically renewing with your current provider. Simply contact CompManagement at (800) 825-6755, select option 3 and speak to a customer support representative.

ARC Industries helps companies stay on budget Managing labor costs is one of the biggest challenges of running a successful business in today’s just-in-time business climate. To stay competitive, you might have considered outsourcing your operation-particularly jobs that involve repetitive or methodical tasks such as kitting, assembly, promotional packaging, shrink wrapping, sorting and labeling. It’s hard to find motivated, reliable workers to perform these tasks. We would like to share with you a little-known resource that such prominent organizations as Simpson Strong-Tie Company,

Inc. and The Ohio State University Extension/4-H Youth Development employ in their quest to stay on top in a competitive world: ARC Industries For more than 50 years, ARC Industries has helped companies like yours get products to market on time and on budget we are the silent partner in the success of hundreds of enterprises. Back to school lessons

Hopefully by now those of us with kids have recovered from the shock of transitioning our lives from the summer schedule to the school year schedule. While coping with this transition and contemplating this article I realized that there are a lot of lessons for us as adults to learn from the Shawn McCabe back to school experience. Heading back to school lets you reconnect with old friends and start making new ones. If you haven’t been active in the Chamber lately there is no better time to get involved and reconnect with old contacts. There are so many opportunities it’s hard to list them all! From the monthly luncheons and morning network exchange to the special events and business after hours, it’s pretty easy to get involved. Since the Chamber is always bringing in new members it’s an easy way to meet new people and expand your network. As our kids enter the next grade level they start to learn new things and grow as individuals. By being an active Chamber member you are exposed to people and resources you may never have known. The various events and programs the Chamber organizes cover a huge range of relevant business topics. Even if the topic is something you’ve heard before, it gives you an opportunity to augment your knowledge or introduce a fresh perspective. By getting involved as an event volunteer or on a planning committee you can grow as an individual. If our kids take advantage of all the opportunities available to them at school they are assured a bright future. Hopefully they inspire us to take advantage of all the opportunities available to us as Chamber members.

Member anniversaries The Chamber would like to recognize our members who have continually supported the purpose of the chamber and its activities.
