The Taste of Hilliard & Business Expo The people came to taste the delicious foods from our restaurants and find out more about the goods and services that our member businesses have to offer our community. Over 1,200 people were at The Taste of Hilliard & Business Expo on August 6th at the Makoy Center! In just three hours that many people tasted different appetizers, entrees, desserts and pizza and could vote for their favorite places for the People’s Choice. The winners for the People’s Choice are: • Best Appetizer: Makoy Center • Best Entrée: Texas Roadhouse • Best Dessert: Crumbz Cakery • Best Pizza was a TIE: Flyers Pizza and Subs tied with Jet’s Pizza We had a great committee who worked for months on this event.

Ohio Health; Kaitlyn Katko, Makoy Center; Melissa McKenzie, Darby Glenn Nursing & Rehabilitation Center; Kim Wilson, Tolles Career & Technical Center; and Bonnie Nyikes, Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices, Calhoon Company Realtors. Special thanks to the Makoy Center and Clay Daniel and his team who prepared the rooms, assisted with parking, got AEP out for the electricity outage that occurred in the Burgundy Room during our set-up, and other ways to make this event run so smoothly. Learn how to maximize LinkedIn seminar We are excited to bring Jeff Young, LinkedIn Guru, to teach an hour long session on LinkedIn on Wednesday, September 10 at Indiana Wesleyan University, 3455 Mill Run Drive, Suite 200. You will go with many takeaways which will help you enhance your presence on this most important professional social media platform. Jeff has taught classes all over central Ohio and is looked to as the person who brings great content as
well as great delivery to the participants. The cost is free for Chamber members and $8 for prospective members and guests. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the class begins at 8:30 a.m. You must register for the class and you may do that on the Hilliard Chamber website, www.hilliardchamber.org. Seating is limited so don’t delay in registering yourself and your colleagues.
Team members from At Home joined Mayor Don Schonhardt and President/CEO Libby Gierach to cut the ribbon for their location at 3599 Park Mill Run Drive in Mill Run. They have a great selection of items for your home!

The Business Pitch Competition will take place on Wednesday, October 22nd at Kalahari Convention Center. Registration for this event is included with Convention registration. In its fourth year, the pitch competition gives small business owners the opportunity to win $20,000 to get their idea off the ground. A team of independent judges narrows the applicant pool to 4 finalists who will make their pitch in front of an expert panel, including Jeff Hoffman, founder in the Priceline.com family of companies.
