She is working toward a duel degree in both Art (Graphic Design) and Psychology. Since her ﬁrst introduction to these areas in high school, Samantha has become a budding psychologist dabbling in the arts. Art for Samantha is her passion. Samantha is currently balancing three jobs and has a summer internship with the Senior Art Director/ Teacher at Pearson Publishing Company to gain experience in the art ﬁeld. She graduated from Big Walnut High School in 2009, Summa Cum Laude. Stage set for musical guests at the 39th Annual Westerville Area Chamber Music & Arts Festival Westerville and the Central Ohio region are home to many talented musicians performing a variety of styles and sounds. This year, the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Music and Arts Festival on July 14 and July 15 is proud to present an electrifying lineup of performers that is sure to light up the festival with the melodic sounds of familiar favorites and new discoveries. The NewsRadio 103.9 FM / 920 AM Stage, located at the center of the festival outside the Everal Barn, will showcase the following performances:

Donna Mogavero is one of Columbus, Ohio’s premier performing songwriters and has been performing in Columbus and around the region since the early 80’s. Donna Mogavero blends a mix of folk, country and rock in her original work. Donna

Blues Reveler

Blues Reveler is Matt Keeler’s homage to American roots music. Matt began performing blues, spirituals, and country ballads on guitar in the mid-1990s. He has since expanded his repertoire and instrumentation. Along with the brothers Adam and Ben Thayer, he has added Irish traditional music, string band music, ragtime, traditional ﬁddle tunes, and other genres to the band’s repertoire. They perform on a variety of homespun and eclectic instruments, including hurdy gurdy, washboard, bones, mandolin, and Irish whistle.

Blues Reveler The Select Phaze is a three piece Classic Rock n Roll band from Westerville, Ohio. The Select Phaze plays a wide variety of music from the 50’s through the 70’s as well as originals. Members include Eddy Obbish on guitar, harmonica and vocals, Ed Obbish on drums and vocal, and Bill Obbish on bass and vocals.

Youth Art Exhibit

The Youth Art Exhibit is sponsored by Nationwide Children’s Hospital Westerville Close to Home Center and Roush Honda and located on the second ﬂoor of the Everal Barn. The Youth Art Exhibit provides young aspiring artists with an opportunity to publicly exhibit their work. Awards, including Best of Show and People’s Choice, are given to the participating youth artists.

Kids Area

The Youth Activities Tent, sponsored by The Westerville Parks and Recreation Department, will host a variety of arts and crafts projects for children including Hawaiian leis, colorful ﬁsh and more. Youth Entertainment will also be available sponsored by Nationwide Children’s Hospital Westerville Close to Home Center and Immediate Health Urgent Care Centers @Westar. This year’s performers are Imaginating Dramatics with Candace Mazur-Darman on Saturday and Magic Nate on Sunday.

Westerville Music & Arts Festival celebrates its 39th Anniversary For 39 years the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce Music & Arts Festival has been a summer highlight for area residents. Beginning in 1974, the community had no idea that so many years later the Festival would still be going strong. What started out as a small “street fair” with only 50 artists exhibiting their work has since grown to include more than 130 ﬁne artists and craftspeople from around the country. The Festival has changed venues several times through the years to handle growing crowds of an estimated 20,000 people for the weekend event. While the Chamber’s goal was to give back to the community, for many of the artists, the involvement and support of the community is what has kept them coming back year after year. Since its ﬁrst year, the Chamber has continually monitored the quality of the festival. The Festival is juried so that only artists selected by a panel of judges may participate. The Festival has also expanded to include the exhibitions of heritage craftspeople that not only display and sell their works, but dress in period costume and give demonstrations.

Another major addition to the Festival has been to include youth exhibits as part of the weekend’s events. This has allowed young artists to be a part of a major arts show and display their talents. year’s youth art exhibits are sponsored by Nationwide Children’s Hospital Westerville Close to Home Center & Roush Honda. In celebration of Westerville’s 150th Anniversary two

years ago, the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce added a new exhibit to the Festival called the “Westerville Walkway” sponsored by Kemba Financial Credit Union. This section of the festival includes

civic service organizations and also features local and emerging artists from Westerville and surrounding areas. This year’s festival will be held Saturday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expect a one dollar admission charge for visitors over the age of 16. Free parking will be available throughout the weekend. Two trolleys, sponsored by OhioHealth Westerville Medical Campus, will be transporting festival patrons to and from Heritage Park. Trolley pickups include the Westerville Sports Complex and Graeter’s Ice Cream (corner of College Ave and State St. in Uptown Westerville). In addition to the exhibits, there will be an exciting line up of bands on the NewsRadio 103.9 FM / 920 AM stage as well as music and local entertainment on the Delaware County Bank North Stage, playing a variety of music including R&B, Country, Big Band Jazz, Solo Guitar, Bluegrass, and Classical. There will also be a silent auction held Saturday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. located in the Everal Barn, sponsored by Mount Carmel St. Ann’s.
