Nominations accepted through May 31 for Renai Award The mission statement for Hilliard Women in Business: Women dedicated to the inspiration, education, support and celebration of the personal and professional success of other business women. The Renaissance is a period in time which has been known for its great intellectual, social and artistic pursuits. Taken literally, it was a time of rebirth. It has given his-
tory some of its greatest minds and contributions in many fields, which are still being felt 500 years later. In today’s ever-changing world, we feel that the contributions of women in business exemplify the multifaceted talents and interests of many of those figures. The talents necessary to achieve success within the workplace, making positive contributions to the
communities we serve and maintaining balance within our lives are far more difficult than at any point in history. As such, we would like to accept nominations for the Renai Award. The qualified candidate will be in her current business or industry for a minimum of two years, has a history of giving back to the Hilliard community and be a member of the Hilliard Area Chamber of

Work together for success In high school I dreaded the words “group project”. For me it meant being grouped with kids I probably didn’t know very well (and maybe disliked), the project would be out of my control, and I would be graded on the effort of others. I have a very different perspective now. I have learned Shawn McCabe that a successful group effort can yield results far beyond the abilities of an individual. The success of the group will inherently bring success to the group’s members. There are several things that contribute to a group’s success but I think the most important one is shared commitment and contribution to a common goal. Your Chamber’s goal is to encourage the growth of existing industries and businesses while giving assistance to any new firm(s) or individual(s) seeking to locate in the Hilliard area. Our purpose is to advance the economic, industrial, professional, cultural, and civic welfare of the Hilliard area and its citizens. There are many ways for you as a member to show your commitment and contribute to your Chamber’s success. Simply by attending the events is a huge show of support. Volunteer for an event or be on the planning committee. Go a step further and take advantage of advertising and sponsorship opportunities. Last but not least contribute your ideas. The Board of Directors is constantly looking for ways to add value to your membership and it’s important for us to know what is valuable to you. We have some exciting things planned for the rest of the year but we are always looking for new ideas. Our Chamber is strongest when our members are active and contributing. Teamwork makes the dream work.
