Candidates Night for Hilliard City Council set for April 18 Don’t forget to attend Candidates Night on Thursday, April 18 at the Norwich Township Safety Services Building, 5181 Northwest Parkway at 7 p.m. This is an important election as four of the seven council seats are going to be filled. This is your opportunity to ask the questions of the people asking for your vote on May 7. Those candidates invited to attend are: Tom Baker, Marc Barraco, Les Carrier, Kelly McGivern, and Bill Uttley. Brian Katz has dropped out of the race. Hear the views of those wanting to represent you for the next four years. There will also be an open house after the forum so that the public can talk directly to the candidates.

Norwich Township Fire Levy – Vote yes on May 7 on Issue 11 At the March meeting of the board of directors for the Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce, the members voted to endorse the fire levy which will be on the primary ballot on May 7, 2013. The Board encourages everyone to become informed on this issue. The last time a fire levy was brought to the voters was 15 years ago. The firefighters have taken a pay freeze for 2013, 2014 and 2015. Due to the growth of the number of people in our community, Fire/EMS Personnel have increased from 46 to 85 employees and EMS calls have increased by 75%. You may go to the Hilliard Norwich Fire Levy Facebook page for more information and to request a yard sign.

Hilliard Women in Business Luncheon set for April 23 Our next luncheon will be held at Reception House at Raymond Memorial by Schmidt’s from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23. Our speaker will be Heather Whaling, president of Geben Communication, a firm based in Columbus that helps companies ranging from startups to $100 million enterprises excel in today’s social world. Heather, an avid Twitter user, was named one of Columbus Business First’s Forty Under 40 and one of Columbus’s Top 10 Entrepreneurs by The Metropreneur. She blogs about PR and social media trends at prTini.com and is the founder of the newly launched DefineYourAll.com. Her presentation topic is “Define Your All.” What does it

mean to “have it all?” What are we supposed to be “leaning” in to? We grow up being told what it means to be a good daughter, mother, wife, friend, employee or boss. It’s impossible to excel at everything, which is why women often feel like they can’t have it all. There’s immense pressure to confirm to societal norms, but what happens if you decide to test a different approach? In this presentation, Whaling will share tips and advice to help you define YOUR all. You do not have to be a chamber member to attend and we encourage anyone in the Hilliard area to join us. The mission of the group is: Women dedicated to the inspiration, education, support and celebration of the

personal and professional success of other business women. This luncheon is sponsored by Credit Union of Ohio. Heather Whaling Reservations are required and need to be made by Friday, April 18. The luncheon is open to the public. The cost is $18 for Chamber members and $21 for prospective members and guests. You may also make your reservation by contacting the Chamber office at 876-7666, or email info@ hilliardchamber.org.
