COPEC workshop set for Saturday, Feb. 28 Central Ohio Professional Education Council (COPEC) and the Hilliard Chamber are providing the community a personal and professional development workshop on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Hilliard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Choose from one to five classes, all for $25 daily. (25 different classes to choose from.) Topics include health care reform, social media training, estate planning, business marketing and more! Real Business Seminar: The real issues faced by real business owners Join us for a “realBUSINESS Seminar” presented by Rider + Reinke Financial Group on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Heritage Golf Club from 8 to 9:30 a.m. This free seminar will have a continental breakfast for the attendees. Topics covered will include succession planning, retirement planning and business continuation. Business owners work extremely hard and make many sacrifices to grow their businesses. It is important to put the same amount of energy into protecting it as building it. Seating is limited and we ask for you and/or your colleagues to RSVP by Thursday, Feb. 19. Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce Business Monthly Spotlight on Business: Mat Happy Yoga Hilliard, Ohio’s first yoga studio, Mat Happy Yoga, opened on New Year’s Day hosting a donation-based Candlelight Flow to benefit the Ohio Wildlife Center. Sisters and business partners Rhiannon Skipper and Kelly Mehring collaborated to provide the community a warm and welcoming place where groups of friends, couples, and individuals looking to connect with a supportive community can come to de-stress, get fit and love themselves a little more. Mat Happy Yoga is full of passionate and talented instructors from varying backgrounds providing a variety of classes that range from beginner-friendly Yoga
Basics and Zen Flow to a relaxing Vinyasa Flow and strengthening Power Flow. Sunday evenings are reserved for a 75-minute restorative class. “We’re really focused on supporting the community and working with local businesses,” said Rhiannon. The studio is hosting a secondgrade brownie troop in February, a Hilliard-based girl scout troop in April, and will donate their space for a free yoga class to veterans. A small retail section offers tanks, leggings and yoga
pants from Columbus-based Bend Active and all-natural mat spray from Toledobased Mind Over Lather. The studio is equipped with joint-friendly, sustainable cork floors and furniture from local craftsman Boundary Customs. Mat Happy Yoga offers great deals for new students and low monthly memberships. A second beginner series recently was added in March. Special events and workshops, including Partner Yoga, Wine & Yoga nights, Team Sports Series for youth, and a Yoga for Runners Workshop are coming soon.
